Jakarta – All We Want for Christmas is Religious Liberty

============================================

Yesterday, while I was pondering when to despatch my Christmas cards to have a hope of timely delivery, the persecuted Christians of West Java delivered SIX THOUSAND cards to the Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
Bogor’s GKI Yasmin Church and Bekasi’s HKBP Filadelfia Church handed them in to the Secretariat of State, to be forwarded to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Jemaat GKI Yasmin dan HKBP Filadelfia menyerahkan 6 Ribu kartu pos kepada Sekretariat Negara RI untuk diteruskan kepada Presiden SBY, Minggu (9/12).

The postcards were signed by thousands of people from all corners of Indonesia and the Netherlands.
People who filled out postcards include Father Magnis Suseno, Sri Edi Swasono, sculptor Dolorosa Sinaga, Tommy F. Auwy, Rocky Gerung, Taufik Basari, Adnan Buyung Nasution, Todung Mulya Lubis, and first lady Sinta Nuriyah Abdurahman Wahid.
So let’s not hear it from Islamophobics. Some of those signatories are serious Muslims, who care deeply about their country and its international reputation.
Indonesia’s good name has been foully sullied by the failure of the authorities here to enforce the high court rulings in these congregations’ favour.“We hope this Christmas, Tuesday, December 25, 2012, GKI Yasmin and HKBP Filadelfia church will be worshipping in their respective proper places, according to the decision of the Supreme Court, plus the relevant recommendation of the Ombudsman in thecase of GKI Yasmin. In 16 days time, we want to worship in our church, ” pleaded Bona Sigalingging.

HKBP SEALed
Bigot Lackeys Seal Bekasi Church
———–
As RRA readers know, the local councils have worked in appeasement of and/or collaboration with bigot thugs to deny religous liberty to these Christians. Mayor Diani of Bogor and Regent Neneng of Bekasi have done all they can to thwart the law and obstruct justice.

Sealed! Bogor Christians Worship in the Street
-“We hope that 25 of December is also a symbol of the return of the momentum of law enforcement in Indonesia, with the opening of the seals illegally imposed by Bekasi and Bogor municipal government,” said Thomas Wadu Dara, who carried the cards to the Secretariat.

Over to you, Mr. President!
