“Cops Did Nothing, Even When Jihadis Threatened to Behead Me!”
Okay, so you think that’s my protest in the headline above?
Or some other wicked ‘Islamophobic’ trouble-maker, commenting on a narrow escape from one of the many sectarian gangs who roam this otherwise delightful country?
Wrong.
Or maybe a local Javanese Christian, harried for deploring the illegals sealing off his church?
Wrong!
Or maybe one of those Ahmadi or Shia, whose dissent from Sunni dogma brings down torrents of bigot hatred on their harmless heads?
Wrong, wrong, thrice wrong!

In fact, the victim – of Islamist menaces, and police indifference, was none other than an active member of Ansor, the youth wing of Indonesia’s largest Muslim organisation, the NU.
His name’s Aminuddin Azis, and he’s head of the Jogjakarta chapter of Ansor. But that didn’t save him from a base rabble.
Now the Jogjakarta Anti Violence Community (Makaryo) are demanding police in Gunungkidul Regencyprosecute perpetrators of sectarian violence in the region.
Ths photo shows these brave young folk, Muslims, Chrisitans and Hindus, demonstrating against the forces of darkness.
Aminuddin didn’t actually DO anything to provoke the morons. It’s quite enough that he’s Chairman of Gunungkidul Interfaith Forum!
FJI members allegedly pursued Aminuddin, forcing him to seek shelter at the Gunungkidul police headquarters.

“The police did nothing even when they threatened to behead me,” said Aminuddin.

I see some of my readers still conflate every Muslim with the sort of IslamoNazi scum who engage in this sort of mayhem.
Please note – Aminuddin is of course a Muslim, as is Alissa, mentioned later in this post. Again, I spend much of my social life with Muslims, and they abhor what is done by hoodlums in the name of their religion.
He puts the assault down to an online report of his concerns about the FJI damaging and forcing the closure of the Kemah Injili Indonesia church in Widoro, Gunungkidul, on March 30 and April 6….
The Islamist ‘commander’ has of course denied any knowledge of the attack on Aminuddin or the damage to his car. But he confirmed that his people did force the closure of the church in Widoro.
So who gave these fanatics the authority to close down anything at all.
And the local police chief’s excuse, that they don’t have witnesses to the vicous louts’ attack on Amanuddin, sounds pretty hollow. If he sought shelter in their office, didn’t the bold gendarmes think to collar the ratbags who were after him?
Jogja used to be a haven of religious tolerance, under the Sultan’s guidance, but he seems to have been eclipsed, while the zealot self-styled ‘scholars’ of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) there, according to the JP report, were more than happy to agree with a demand by the same Jihadist gang that police suppress the minority Shia community in the area.

No wonder Gusdurian Indonesia coordinator Alissa Wahid reckons these outrages are not isolated events… Indonesia. “This is a social-change phenomenon that needs to be responded to as soon as possible,” said Allisa, who is a daughter of former Indonesian president, the late Abdurrahman “Gus Dur” Wahid.
And everyone who cares for Indonesia, native or foreign, will surely echo herhope that the police would take stern measures against the perpetrators.
