Nazis Go Nuts as Playboy Editor Freed – “Weird Porn Judge!”
Only yesterday we heard that the imprisoned Indonesian editor of Playboy, Erwin Arnada, has had his prison term quashed – after quite some time spent serving his two year sentence – by the same Supreme Court that sent him down!
And (according to Okezone.com a few hours ago) Indonesia’s Islamonazis have now denounced the Chief Justice as a ‘weird porn judge…”
Arnada’s lawyer told the media he had no idea why this has happened! The Court gave no reason!
Jakarta Globe 23/6 Playboy’s local editor Erwin Arnada, whose magazine contained no nudity, is currently behind bars serving a sentence, which critics said highlighted the growing pressure from Islamist groups for a more restrictive society in the predominantly Muslim country.
“We have received a confirmation from the Supreme Court that it has granted a judicial review of Erwin Arnada,” prominent lawyer Todung Mulya Lubis told Reuters by telephone. “It shows that it is committed to uphold press freedom in Indonesia,” Lubis said, saying his client would be released soon.
He said he had not been told of the reason for the acquittal.

The conviction and sentence were equally incomprehensible and should never have happened, since the local Playboy was about as porny as The Beano (for non-Brit readers, The Beano was, and I suppose still is, a British children’s comic featuring characters like Desperate Dan and Biffo the Bear)
Needless to say, the Islamonazi Front Pembela Islam went nuts when they heard this latest news. Habib Rizieq, Fuhrer of the self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam’ (FPI) assailed the decision.
‘Since when did the Supreme Court become the Indecent Court?’ he raved, demanding that the Chief Justice be ‘examined’ by the Judicial Commission. (report in Inilah.com 24/6) He further (okezone.com 24/6) trundled out the familiar refrain about ‘injuring the feelings of Muslims,’ as if the alleged hypersensitivity of his fanatic constituency has anything to do with justice.
But this ruling, while welcome, is most unusual.
From the Straits Times, I notice that I’m not the only one shocked at the feeble fifteen year sentence handed down to the evil old terrorist Abu Bakr Ba’ashyir.
The 15-year jail term handed to convicted terrorist Abu Bakar Bashir this week is sparking debate, with analysts suggesting it was kept light to avoid angering the radicals who revere him.
The prosecution had pushed for a life term for the 72-year-old.
But analyst Mardigu Wowiek Prasantyo, who helps the police interrogate terrorist suspects, said the lighter sentence was seen as having “the best outcome for society.”…the government has shied away from clamping down on fundamentalist groups for fear of being portrayed as anti-Muslim…One of the prosecutors said on Thursday that judges had been too lenient. Bashir was proven to have incited people to commit acts of terrorism, a crime punishable by death, and to have supported the use of violence to inflict harm, which can bring life imprisonment. “But the judges had to consider the wider feelings of society,” said the prosecutor, who did not want to be named. “It seems they don’t just follow the law book exactly. They make decisions after taking into account all the relevant aspects.”
Analysts do agree on a few things though. One is that Bashir should be isolated while in prison so he cannot influence others.
Yes, that is very important. Otherwise the old swine will infect convicts with his venomous form of mental illness known as shariomania.
On Friday, National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Ketut Untung Yoga Ana said Bashir was still in police custody in his own cell and would be moved to a prison only at a later date. “The court will decide where to put Bashir,” Ketut said.
Buru Island, way up north and far out on the sea, was where Suharto kept his ‘political’ prisoners. They didn’t enjoy it much. And they had to do some honest toil.
Why not put Ba’syir the Bigot Beast there?
