To honor the Dutch maestro’s Bonnet and Smit, the Dutch cultural center, The Erasmus Huis, proudly presents the exhibition ‘Modern Balinese Paintings, the relationship with Rudolf Bonnet and Arie Smit’.

The purpose of the exhibition is to show a selection of art works by several Balinese painters who have a strong affinity with the oeuvre of Bonnet and Smit. Attention has been paid to the similarities between the works of Bonnet and Smit and their followers. The works are chosen in such a way, that it becomes particularly clear that the artists have depicted the same theme. The art shown in this exhibition focuses on the role of Rudolf Bonnet and Arie Smit for the development of modern Balinese’ paintings.

This exclusive exhibition has been initiated by the Erasmus Huis and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and is a collaboration between Erasmus Huis, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Museum Puri Lukisan, Neka Art Museum, Agung Rai Museum of Art, Museum Pasifika and OHD museum.
