That news from Blackburn, Lancashire, in the UK, adds yet more impetus to the campaign to rid civilised countries of this primitive bag-head gear, or better, of the primitives who insist on wearing it, or more precisely, of the bigot bullies who insist their womenfolk wear it!

  • A British imam has launched a nationwide campaign to ban the burqa(full body Islamic covering) in Britain. The campaign aims to ban the wearing of face coverings in all public places, including the burqa and the niqab, which he describes as un-Islamic.

Dr. Taj Hargey argues that the burqa is a “Saudi-Afghani fad” imposed on British Muslims, who are predominantly of Pakistani origin, where the burqa was never traditionally worn. Dr. Hargey is the leader of the Oxford Islamic Congregation, and the head of the Muslim Educational Centre of Oxford (MECO).

He is calling for Britain to follow France and Belgium in banning the wearing of the burqa in public places, following a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights (EHRC) that the ban was legal. I was so surprised by this – given the backward bigotry of numerous ‘clerics’ here and elsewhere on this issue – that i thought perhaps it was a spoof, created by ‘Islamopohobes.’

That report concerns inter-marriage, and shows SO much more sense than one hears so often here.

All this inhuman coercion/conversion is an affront to religious liberty.

Alas, it won’t likely improve anytime soon – even the old autocrat Suharto, when one of his sensible allies, Ali Murtopo, tried to drag Indonesia out of marriage law Dark Ages in 1973, backed off, after a mob of demented ‘students’ invaded the legislature, rabidly determined to prevent their sisters marrying for love if that love happened to worship God Almighty in a different way.

That sort of ignoramus bigotry still holds sway.
