Islamist Gang Confronts Jakarta Democracy
It must be galling for benighted backward brutes in Jakarta to have not only a Christian but also an ethnic Chinese Governor running Indonesia’s capital city.
Jakarta Jew-Haters Boo Chinese Christian Candidate
They certainly said so during the gubernatorial election!
oooooo
Ahok
oooooooo
Most Indonesians, on the other hand, whether or not they like Ahok’s sometimes abrasive style, are surely proud that their 90% Muslim capital elected Ahok as Deputy Governor two years ago, spurning sectarian ranters, and certainly see no reason to object to his constitutionally correct elevation to the gubernatorial job about to be vacated by President-Elect Jokowi.
But ‘most’ is not ‘all.’
Never overlook the shrill noises a rabid band of fanatics can emit when upset.

- “Reject Ahok”- IslamoNazi FPI banner
- —————–
- Sindonews.com reports that the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) is calling on Jakarta City Council to reject Basuki Purnama (Ahok’s proper name) as replacement for the position of Governor.
These IslamoNazis are planning a demo for next week, 24th September, and erecting banners blasting Ahok.
————————————
“We will mobilize the masses in front of the City Council on the 24th of September,” said Secretary of Jakarta DPD FPI Novel Bamu’min…according to Novel Ahok does not deserve to be Governor of Jakarta…the man is also not fit to hold his current position, Vice Governor of Jakarta.
Why?
“….his arrogant and abusive talking…a leader should be able to set an example for his people. During his time, Ahok is always making provocative statements and heating up the atmosphere…” http://metro.sindonews.com/read/902824/31/tolak-ahok-fpi-bakal-kerahkan-massa
Aaaw, c’mon, Novel!
Lots of local notables here make provocative statements.
WE know the real reason you don’t like him.
Who was it that hurled that famous sexist and sectarian abuse at the district head in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, that infamous ignoramus outburst?

Why yes, the self-same Bamumin!
At least then he was forthright about his sectarian motivations.
Why, now, does he skulk behind objections to Ahok’s forthright rhetoric? If the FPI did harbour concerns about public figures using inflammatory speech, why haven’t they long since retired Novel’s white-shirt colleague, the notorious Lubis.
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
‘Bunuh, bunuh, bunuh,’ – ‘kill, kill, kill,’ he shrieked at a rabid rabble, urging the murder of the peaceful Ahmadiyah religious minority (video link here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4 )

One can hardly, after all, get much more into heating up the atmosphere than issuing clarion calls to murder innocent people.
