Senator Lambie Must Be Specific on Shariah!
Wow!
Had to laugh at the way Yahoo minces around exactly what ‘shariah’ means.
Sharia influences the legal code in most Muslim countries and includes regulations to do with all aspects of Muslim life including daily routines, religious and family obligations, marriage and financial dealings. https://au.news.yahoo.com/a/24996108/sharia-advocates-should-leave-lambie/
ooooooooooooo
Soppy drivel!
The way that definition is set out, you’d think shariah was about who makes breakfast, who sits at the head of the table, who has to be invited to weddings…and who pays the bills!
And I suppose, no doubt, in a way, it does cover those kinds of questions. Its precise demands on people are no doubt also a matter of debate within Muslim circles, as with any legal code.
So when ladies like Senator Lambie in Oz, or men and women anywhere, call for action against supporters of shariah law, it’s important that they be clear about what is objectionable about shariah that motivates their call – for serious action, in this case.

Senator Lambie
- =============================
- Senator Lambie said any Australian who supported sharia should not have the right to vote or get welfare payments. “Anybody that is supporting or calling for sharia law in Australia should get out, simple as that,” she told reporters in Hobart on Monday.
I like her style – too many politicians mince their words for fear of ABC attack-dogs. Clearly there’s only room for one code of law in Oz, that on the Australian statute book.
But she would have made her point MUCH more effectively if she had specified exactly what aspects of shariah are unacceptable in a civilised society.
There are probably various bits and pieces of shariah law we’d all find harmless. But basic requirements on Australia’s part should include :-
No subordination of women – i.e. no nonsense about enforced shrouding of women’s heads and bodies – unless their menfolk are similarly shrouded….and no sex discrimination re inheritance rights- equal shares!
Befire we go on, we mustnote that her party leader, Clive Palmer has distanced the Palmer United Party from her inflammatory assertion…
–
Palmer
–
Why? Because he’s under threat of an electoral backlash from the Muslim community…
Some geezer named Keysar Trad is up in arms!
He runs the Islamic Friendship Association of Australia, and he has graciously offered to give Senator Lambie, PUP senators, and Mr Palmer a “cultural briefing” on sharia.
No doubt a fascinating teach-in, if you know what questions to ask of the teacher.
“A lot of people talk about sharia but what they have in mind is a tiny aspect of sharia,” he said. “The penal provisions make up less than 1 per cent of sharia. Sharia is all the teachings of Islam and it is about being good to your neighbour, being honest, decent, not stealing, praying five times a day.”
============================
- OK, no problem with most of that.
- But is Mr. Trad ready to denounce dangerous rubbish like the death penalty for ‘apostates’ i.e. anyone who converts out of his creed…
- o
- o
- …or the death penalty for adultery?
- Will he make it clear that every Australian’s first duty is to Australia, and NOT to peoples overseas who happen to practise his religion.
If so, then few Aussie folk, including, I’m sure, Ms. Lambie, would have any problem with shariah.
But before we consider who needs to be taught about civic virtues, let’s look at the real Trad record –

Here comes the judge – look out, fanatic!
- ==================
- Many of his remarks are distasteful and appear to condone violence. I’m satisfied that the plaintiff does hold views which can properly be described as racist. I’m also satisfied that he encourages others to hold those views. In particular he holds views derogatory of Jewish people. The views which he holds would not be acceptable to most right-thinking Australians.”. And Keysar runs a Friendship Association?
Palmer, and some other less coherent individuals, like Labor Senator Sam Dastyari, should indeed swot up on shariah.

Here’s a photo of the code in action, a little girl beaten by a hooded coward, for what…apparently some morons in Aceh think being on your own with a member of the opposite sex (khalwat) should entail punishment – barbarism!
When I have asked the occasional Islamist visitor to RRA comment column about undesirable aspects of shariah, the response has been to shy away.
Dastyari exemplifies the bluster which shariah apologists resort to when under the spotlight. He says Lambie is “uninformed and irresponsible…Just because you can string the words Muslim, sharia and ISIS into a sentence doesn’t make it right and doesn’t make it factual,” he said.
More delphic is the comment from Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Social Services, Senator Concetta Fierravanti-Wells, who has apparently dismissed fears over sharia.
“Sharia law doesn’t operate in Australia and it is not going to operate in Australia,” she said. : http://www.smh.com.au/federal-politics/political-news/jacqui-lambie-and-clive-palmer-at-odds-over-sharia-comments-20140917-10ib1g.html#ixzz3DdRmrx92
Well, she obviously doesn’t think it should be – but what matters is what shariah demands.
If it demands murdering converts, killing frolicsome spouses and de-prioritising patriotic duty in favour of some supranational ideology, then those aspects need to be proscribed.
An immediate denunciation of such tripe is required from every imam in Australia.
- And those who espouse such pernicious views need to be investigated under the ‘hate-speech’ laws which Abbott has unwisely decided to keep on the statute book – at the demand, paradoxically, of various people who like shariah!
