It’s an issue of whether Indonesia is a constitutional democracy, in which pusillanimous pip-squeaks like everyone else are obliged to comply with rulings of both the Supreme Court and the National Ombudsman.

Bima clearly reckons he is not so obliged.

If he were in any sense pluralist, as he used to claim, he’d be down there unsealing the house of worship and wishing the congregants a Merry Christmas – as my Muslim friends and all decent Muslims here are very happy to do.

His inaction shames Indonesia before the world.

PS -Sorry, not only his inaction, but the action of his goon-squad, his civic militia, the notorious SatPol PP, who according to a Tempo report, turned up at the church site and set about bullying the Christians, hand-in-glove with louts from sectarian thug-gangs.
