Good to read that here in Indonesia sensible citizens are still raising their voices against dangerous fanatics.

  • Suaramerdeka.com reports that a number of youth organizations such as GP Ansor, Pemuda Pancasila, FKPPI and Youth Panca Marga (PPM) showed up at the Regency Office of Religious Affairs (MORA) in Gresik, East Java, last weekend.

Not all of these are groups I might often hang out with, but who cares? They were being public-spirited, objecting to the fact that a branch of HTI had surfaced in their neighbourhood.

The youth groups listed as objectors to the jihadist outfit deserve a pat on the back for speaking up on the very reasonable grounds that if HTI get going, it will have a negative impact on the atmosphere in Gresik.
