‘You’re Only An Adult! It’s Past Your Bedtime!’ Jakarta Rules, OK?

National Narcotics Agency (BNN) chief Comr. Gen. Budi Waseso has expressed his support for the Jakarta City Council in its plan to restrict the operational hours of nightclubs until 12 a.m. as stipulated in a draft bylaw on tourism.

Pak Budi added that his support is conditional on the aim being to ‘improve morality.’
Would he review his support, if the councillors concerned announced that the aim is to make the capital of Indonesia a potential winner of the annual competition for the title of ‘Most Boring City On God’s Earth?’
So what are all the grown-ups ushered out of the night-spots at midnight meant to do?

Crowds of mainly young, energetic adults wandering the streets of the city with nowhere to go are hardly a recipe for improving behaviour in Indonesia’s energetic capital.

oooooooooooooooooooooo
Yes, of course they could all head home to be tucked up in their comfy wee beds by mummy and daddy. Infantilising the adult population may well be a guarantee of enhanced moral fibre.

But I’d have thought if Jakarta City Council wants to be seen as transparent, it would be more honest to describe the proposed new stipulation as a by-law on ANTI-TOURISM!

Why must anyone be on the street at midnight?
The night is dark because meant for sleeping. Only strange people will want to be playing in the darkness. Yes, like zombi in your picture.
You foriegner like nightclubbing but most of Indonesia is sleeping at night and waking in the morning to work.
If you like party with alcohol, better you go live in Bangkok or maybe Australia.
