Poles Set Another Good Example – Clean Out Media Bias!

  • Good on those Poles!
  • Now they’ve acted to curb the bias in their so-called ‘public’ broadcasting.
  • Funny how it’s ‘public’ in that the public are milked mercilessly to pay hacks’ fat salaries, but if the public’s elected representatives dare try to rein in editorial arrogance editors, there’s uproar.
  • The ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) wants to “bring back public media to the Poles,” said PiS MP Elzbieta Kruk during the debate at the Sejm, Poland’s lower house.

    ‘Ideologies and political orientations’

Kruk, herself a former chair of the National Broadcasting Council, said that public media “falsely presented as public opinion” ideologies and political orientations that were not supported by the majority of voters.

“The ethos rooted in Christianity and Polish traditions of freedom and independence is marginalised or discredited, while an ideological and moral fashion unacceptable to the majority of the population is ennobled,” she said.

That must ring a bell or ten with millions of Brits, Canadians and Australians, who wish they had governments ready to clean out the biased bigotry we have all seen in the BBC, CBC and ABC.

So let’s examine briefly how the patriotic Poles plan to handle this.

If it goes ahead, the plan is that the head of the Polish public radio and television will be dismissed and replaced by three-member boards “appointed and dismissed by the minister of the treasury….the draft law “represents the first stage of the reform of the Polish public media, aiming to establish a national media system,” the bill says….

Given the huge support the new government got in the election last year, I’d say they have a clear democratic mandate for their straightforwardplans to re-orientate Polish society towards traditional values…

But of course the parasite class that leeches off Polish tax-payers whilst despising their values is beside itself.

The media bill is “a negation of the principles of a functioning public media in a democratic society,” the current head of the National Broadcasting Council, Jan Dworak, wrote in a letter to the speaker of the Sejm.

Dworak goes on to make a ludicrous comparison, saying the proposed reform “represents a return to the model we know from the past where state media is completely subordinated to the government.”

The past, in Poland, refers to the totalitarian marxist dictatorship. Of course the Reds controlled media, and everything else they could, as tightly as possible.

But the point is – the Reds were an un-elected oligarchy, put in power by Soviet bayonets. Marxist rule meant that real Poles were not represented but tormented.

And foreign sticky-beaks jumped in quickly – the Association of European Journalists (AEJ) said “impartiality, objectivity and fairness” of public media “will not be upheld” by the media bill.

Pubic media’s impartiality, objectivity and fairness? Hohoho!

So get stuck in, Elzbieta!

The EUSSR will be shrilling too, soon enough, determined to thwart any moves to defang their vicious media fan-club.

But knowing a lot of Poles, and knowing their country’s history, I reckon Warsaw will not back down in the face of Brussels bleating.
