A Tropical Calais? Indonesian Mayor Wants Migrants “Removed!”

Batam Mayor Muhammad Rudi said Thursday he asked for the minister’s guidelines about how to deal with the “social problems caused by the immigrants” in Batam…

  • =======================

  • “We are asking for the immigrants to be removed from Batam,” Rudi said..

  • Batam is a bustling port at the northern end of Indonesia, just across from Singapore.

  • I’ve passed through it a couple of times, and taken the international ferry, a short, pleasant journey, on which you can see lots of small boats going to and fro, many of them fishermen. It must be quite easy to sneak into quiet spots along the coast if one wishes to deposit a cargo of crimmigrants.

  • But this JP article nowhere specifically says Mayor Rudi is talking about legal or illegal immigrants…

…until we reach these two consecutive paragraphs.

Batam Immigration Office recorded 362 immigrants in Batam, 280 of whom live at Kolekta Hotel and 61 at the Immigration Office Detention Center. The immigrants’ cost of living is funded by the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Does this mean that some government apparatchik has chosen to emulate Cameron, instal illegals in hotel accommodation, instead of slapping them behind bars where they belong?

There are also 82 immigrants living at Aspirasi Park in Batam. They are from Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia and Ethiopia.

Aaah! Same allsorts with which poor Calais is burdened.

The municipality said the immigrants have made the park “dirty.”  http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/10/13/batam-wants-govt-to-remove-immigrants-from-city.html

And another Batam official had another thing to say which made me think of Calais, and the long failure of French authorities to crack down on the undesirables –

“There is no supervision of them. This is dangerous. The central government has to consider the local wisdom when they decide to accommodate immigrants,” he said.

British Lying Press V French Patriot Mayor!

Sounds just like that fine French mayor we wrote about last week!

In France Today, Democracy’s ‘A Threat To Public Order!’

The report concludes with a most peculiar sentence.

I’m not sure if it reflects the versatility of undesirable aliens or the the Jakarta Post’s infamous grammar issues.

Recently the Immigration Office arrested several male immigrants suspected of soliciting themselves.
