New Hitler Statue? “Nothing To Do With Glorification!”
oooooo
Surprised, to say the least, that a German city council voted on Monday in favor of accepting a 6.3-meter (21-foot) bronze representation of the revolutionary national socialist thinker Adolf Hitler. Council members voted by a majority of 42 to 11.
Har-De-Har-Har-Har!
FAKE NEWS, of course!
Were it true, there’d be riots and diplomatic rows compared to which the current Turk uproar would seem like a teen lovers’ tiff.
The outrage would likely escalate if the German mayor declared that –
“This has nothing to do with glorification. Those times are over.”
But the sheer hypocrisy of present-day Social Democrats can be gauged when we compare my Fake News with the real report which I’m ridiculing.
After months of discussions, Trier city council voted on Monday in favor of accepting a 6.3-meter (21-foot) bronze representation of the revolutionary socialist thinker Karl Marx. Council members in the southern western German town voted by a majority of 42 to 11.

This exaltation of evil arose from a gift by the world’s largest tyranny, Red China, which has graciously presented the monstrosity to Trier on the occasion of Marx’s 200th birthday on May 5,
‘Shame and not an honor’
As you might expect, decent Germans were affronted by the prospect of such a monstrous tribute. Marxism has caused millions of deaths, innocent victims of evil, and brought misery and slavery to millions more.
Concentration camps, torture, abolition of all the freedoms we take for granted.

Not least in the large chunk of Germany ruled for decades by Soviet quislings.
Malignant Marxist regimes continue oppress Cuba, Vietnam, North Korea – and of course there’s that genocidal one-party despotism in Beijing.

The appearance of the effigy lead to immediate negative reactions from some citizens:
“Setting up a statue of a man who played a major role in the development of Communism is a shame and not an honor for Trier,” wrote one person in the local newspaper.

City authorities saw things differently, however. Trier mayor and Social Democratic (SPD) Wolfram Leibe said:
Lousy Leibe with red flags
“This has nothing to do with glorification. Those times are over.”
Of course it has everything to do with glorification!
That’s what statues are for, as indeed is the lame-brain scheme to hold a special exhibition…next year, “Karl Marx 1818-1883. Life. Work. Times.”
Will Leibe include models of tormented inmates in Sachsenhausen concentration camp, or other victims of red malevolence….

…like all those prisoners in Stasi dungeons, being maltreated by Merkel’s one-time comrades-in-arms?
NOT A CHANCE, with lice like Leibe in charge!
As usual, we would never suggest extra-legal action, but if the dirty old swine’s statue were somehow to topple over one dark night, and break into a hundred pieces…
… who would shed a tear, except those damnable forty-two Red fellow-travellers on Trier City Council!
ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
PS -An interesting little bit of old DW news from Odessa offers another possible solution.
Ukrainians have transformed a statue of Soviet founder Vladimir Lenin into one of Darth Vader in the city of Odessa. The absurd but highly-symbolic move comes just before the release of the latest “Star Wars” movie. (23.10.2015)

Mayor Leibe lives in an alternative moral universe.
What will we see next, statues of Pol Pot and Lavrenti Beria?
Why not memorialize mass-murderers like Charles Manson and Jack The Ripper?
It’s just so sick.

I read a while ago that the unveiling is planned for May.
I might fly over and join any Germans demonstrating.
Can you find out for me from your contacts if anything is planned?

Morning, Ollie.
I’m composing a post for the weekend ( 29/4) on this and from what I have read so far, I’d say the bad guys are expecting critics to appear on the 5th.
If I get details, I’ll add them for anyone interested in attending.
Addendum!
Bingo, Ollie!
I have found the local newspaper in Trier, which tells us that –
The German Communist Party and the Left are moving through the city with a pro-Marx demonstration.
At the same time, the AfD announced a silent march – commemorating the victims of communism. A Trier resident, who grew up in the GDR, wants to go on a hunger strike and hold vigils. The Buddhist community Falun Gong, banned and persecuted in China, is planning a rally in the main market.
