Am I Right About 5th June?

Just checking that my memory’s as good as ever- is today not the anniversary of the first referendum?

I could check on Google, but instead leave it to those old comrades-in-arms who read these words of mine to confirm or refute my recollection. I am clear as to the 1975 speech I made to the crowd, when the disappointing result came out –

‘The people of this country have been conned into stabbing themselves in the back, but our day will come!”

    And it did!

Meanwhile, thanks to Get Britain Out, British tax-payers have been told of the latest massive rip-off scheme devised by the EUSSR to brain-wash its subjects.

    …The Euro-Commissars have a approved a plan  to spend €33.3 million (£28.6 million) over the next 2 years on a communications campaign…

….to “explain the purpose of the [European] Union and the [European] Parliament to the citizens’ ahead of European Parliament elections in 2019.”

Extolling their own valuable role, as ever.

What they may not wish to broadcast quite so loudly is the disgraceful extravagance scheduled for new furniture to fill up any empty space in their plush offices – some €8.33 million (£7.1 million!

As GBO pointedly asks, why the HELL should Brit tax-payers be charged for propaganda for elections we won’t even take part in – and furniture we’ll never get to sit on?

    On Thursday, think BREXIT!

June 5th it was, and I was but a teenager.
I think many of us remember where we were when we learned of the result, traumatic, like when Kennedy was shot.

      Dead right, mate!
Never got to hear your speech but I made one myself the day after and said much the same as you, although I never honestly expected we would get our freedom back in my lifetime.
I was a Young Conservative back then, but on Thursday i am voting for Ukip, because i think they are the only party we can trust.

I remember it well because I was so sad that morning after, but last year on 23 June I was delirious; We were free at last, thank God Almighty.
Not every day I quote Maurice Chevalier and MLK in the same sentence!.

I just checked Google! You are spot on.
There are a lot of us who spent a lot of the energy we had more of in those days campaigning for a NO vote and we talk about it a lot, how much damage has been done to the United Kingdom, deliberately, by the EU Commission, I can give examples like how it destroyed our fishing industry.

      There’s deeper damage too.
We over-fifties old enough to remember when we were independent have suffered but it’s much worse among the younger people. Millennials never knew what it was to stand on their own two feet without foreign courts to go crying to when their precious ‘rights’ are ruffled.
It will take some while to get them straightened out and able to think like adults but I believe it will eventually be all right.
Sorry if my grammar or myspelling is a bit off but you can fix it up for me, if you will.
