It is not debatable. Riel was a traitor.
The death penalty was the lawful penalty for that crime when he committed it.
End of story.
Unless the people now saying he’s a hero are saying treason is a good thing.

Traitors like traitors, thats why there is so much support in the colleges for this Riel campaign.
There will be a campaign soon to rehab the Communist spies from the 1950s.
They beleived in their cause too so why should we be mean to them just because they betrayed their country.
