Thanks be there are still sane citizens in that once-delightful city!

I spent a while in Victoria, British Columbia, many years ago, a house guest of two elderly cousins.

I’d taken a bus trip across the Dominion of Canada, partly to enjoy its varied beauties, but also to check out some of the many relatives who…

…after my great3grandfather Joe sailed from County Londonderry, about 170 years ago, had spread across the country, playing their part in the creation of modern Canada.

Those kindly old folks I stayed with have long since passed on, and better so, for they would be horrified were they to learn that only ONE Councillor in Victoria…

Geoff Young

….a man who respects his constituents, named Geoff Young, opposed the pinko creep mayor’s crusade against a hero of Canada’s history.

That Mayor, Lisa Helps, exemplifies the cancer that is eating away at Canada’s British North American heritage. Related: Watch the Committee of the Whole’s meeting here

The Background

Referring to the handful of culture-demolitionists who produced the hateful scheme, Cllr. Young said that they “have had ample opportunity to work through these issues, to discuss them –

Mayor Helps’ imbecilic comments about the statue, reported elsewhereJohn A. Macdonald statue ‘painful reminder’ of colonialism: Victoria, B.C. mayor suggest she is a far-left nutjob, and most certainly a dedicated enemy of democracy.

“The reason we’re not doing a big public consultation on the statue per se is it would become a debate about do we keep the statue or do we remove the statue?”

Yes, that’s what’s called democracy, you blethering bint!

That’s a concept your subversive sort despise, as you go on to make so very clear.

That’s not the debate we want to have,” she said. “What we want to have is a conversation about how do we as a city and as a community have reconciliation in the city that’s built on the homelands of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations…”

Okay, Comrade Helps, if you own a house or a shop or an office built on the homelands of the Songhees and Esquimalt Nations, then give it back!

If you’re so uptight about the fact that British people and the other Europeans who came to Canada, like old Joe and all my other ancestors, and turned it from a wilderness into the magnificent dominion…

….in which I count myself fortunate and proud to have been born, then why don’t you clean out your own bank account (not the city tax-payers’ funds, mind) and give all that you have to those Indians’ descendants, as compensation for what only your kind of creep, not normal Canadians, regard as a rip-off.

DO NOT DISS Macdonald on a pinko whim – put your proposal to a municipal referendum and go door to door putting your case for destruction of the Dominion’s identity…

…then see how well you’ve done when the votes are counted.
