No More Peers, Please, In The Next Honours List!
I just read, in the Europhiliac ‘New European,’ that Jo Swinson, the Lib Dem ex-leader, having been chucked out by her Scottish electorate last week, is set to come weaseling back to Westminster…
….
…
…as Lady Loser, perhaps, via the Dissolution Honours List!
That’s just spitting in the face of East Dunbartonshire’s voters!
Somebody back in The Old Country should start one of those parliamentary petitions, calling for an end to Life Peerages.
Where honour is due, knighthoods are good enough, or the various OBEs amd MBEs etc.
Abolition of the Upper Chamber ought to be the long-term plan…
Another Petition For Brits – Referendum On Lords!
000000000
…as quite a lot of people have already suggested, but in the meantime?
Life peers are often uppity gits who think they can interfere with the decisions of the elected House of Commons. Not just failed MPs but self-regarding elitists from all walks of life- they’re almost always a waste of space!
That BBC twat is one obvious example of somebody who should be kept away from law-making…
….
Lord Hall, whom some eejit appointed to be big BBC boss…

No MP thrown out by his or her voters should be eligible for membership of the other House.
It’s really insulting to the people who made it clear the candidate is unworthy of support.
Swinson should stay home, do some house-work and reflect on why she was unacceptable.
I need hardly add that the same applies to male rejects.
(I haven’t forgotten your own confession to having been a house-husband when your child or children were little!)

Fiona, you are not wrong!
It would be very wrong to let Swinson swan into parliament after the people threw her out.
What would be even more off-puting would be Lord Bercow .
I hope that little sh-t gets no honours at all because he disgraced himself
as Speaker.
Johnson will do as he likes but he knows the arithmetic in the Lords. He might nominate hundreds of people he can count on to even things up.

Swinson has a cheek even to consider sneaking back into Westminster through the back door!
How many other things that voters flushed down the toilet are going to come bobbing up to the surface this way?

Good idea, the end of peerages, not the petition though.
The new majority in the Commons will take no notice of it if Johnson tells them not to.
If he sees the sense of it, he’ll make it happen.

As a follow-on from what I said earlier, it doesn’t look like Johnson is going to end peerages.
I have just been reading that he is already proposing to send Zac Goldsmith to the Lords.

Jobs for the boys.
At the very least, peers should have speaking but not voting rights.
