To me, ‘Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ and ‘The Spy Who Came In From The Cold’ were simply enjoyable fiction, yet some people have to drag  politics even into light reading, people like the leftists who tomorrow are giving him that ‘Olaf Palme Prize,’ who claim Le Carre…

Though don’t forget, Le Carre’s books are just fiction and should not be taken seriously, any more than his lefty bluster should.

As to the prize – which is NOT for his literary skill but for his politics- it has in the past gone to a few good people, like Vaclav Havel, but frankly I would be minded to refuse an award that was once handed to a rat-bag leftist leaker like Daniel Ellsberg!

Another previous recipient was that Italian far-left hack we wrote about last year, Roberto Saviano, whose detestation of democratic principles….
