As the folly of releasing convicts and ‘asylum’ crimmigrants has become commonplace around the world, despite the obvious risks to public safety, it was sad to read in Indonesia’s Kompas of the actual human cost this policy has already exacted.

In East Lampung, South Sumatra, a teenage girl was raped by one of what the authorities here delicately describe as the Covid-19 Assimilation Program.
 
The 20-year-old criminal had been out of jail for less than a month when he ‘met’ the victim on Facebook, made a date…

…then threatened to choke her unless she went into a garden area.
Without the C19AM, that poor girl would not have been raped.

Alongside that saddening Kompas report, there’s a link to another story, that another 39 convicts released under the ‘virus amnesty’ have also been re-arrested.
Since Indonesia is far from the only country to have unleashed undesirables in this context, I’m asking readers for any news of similar outcomes elsewhere.
