Selamat Hari Pancasila – In Lombok Too?

Happy Pancasila Day, a relatively new public holiday in Indonesia, on which I commented last year…

    https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2017/06/01/happy-pancasila-day-is-brotherhood-worth-a-hundred-meter-walk/

My observations then should still resonate with Indonesians who cherish their heritage of religious tolerance, which has been gravely undermined since last year…

….what with the imprisonment of Jakarta’s Christian Governor Ahok for the mediaeval ‘crime’ of ‘blasphemy’- in his case merely quoting a Koranic verse during his election campaign, a quip which his largely Muslim audience at the time took in good part, but which was then seized on…

“It’s not the first and definitely won’t be the last attack. It’s been years and the Ahmadi community continues to live under threats…”

I thought you had missed that horrible news from Lombok but I should have known better. Better to save it for this national holiday that as you say is about tolerance and liberty, equality, fraternity.
If the police arrest those thugs that attacked the Lombok Ahmadis and if a court convicts them and gives them long prison terms then I will start believing that Pancasila still matters to the government.
I have few hopes that is going to happen.

I spent the day with some very nice Indonesians and it gives me a headache to picture what kind of country theywll have to live in if the government here doesnt do something to secure pancasila values.

The Lombok violence wasnt as bad as Cikeusik but it looks like nobody is going to do time for it.
I may be wrong and I hope I am wrong but if the culprits dont get serious prison time then it would be a clever move to give up up having a pancasila holiday.

‘Bullied For Months On End?’ So Kick The Primitives OUT!

And back to DW again, and a reference to ‘nation-wide outrage when a little Jewish girl was bullied for months on end by her Muslim classmates in Berlin.

    =

    Gambar terkait

Nazi grafitti – ‘Jews Out!’    Now action replays, thanks to Mama Stasi Merkel?

    =

The president of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Josef Schuster, told DW last month that Muslim children were being indoctrinated in their homes.

Needless to say, Merkel’s Bundestag flunkey Volker Kauder deplores sectarian intimidation, but rather than deal effectively with those responsible, his anaemic remedy is that education authorities could form an interschool response to problem…

    =

…or at least an updated version, like this?

    And if they refuse?

Foolish Germany, like the UK, has no corporal punishment for recalcitrant young ratbags.

    =

So surely a better idea is expulsion – and not just from school!

The problem is obviously an inevitable result of importing hordes of pig-ignorant bigots.

And it’s not just little Jewish girls who are suffering, a truth of which Kauder seems to be aware.

“The statements of the father of the Jewish girl in Berlin, whose case triggered the discussion, were very thought-provoking for me,” said Kauder. “He spoke of some boys from Muslim families treating classmates badly, whether they were Jews, Christians or even Muslims, for example when they went to the wrong mosque.”   http://www.dw.com/en/merkels-cdu-urges-mandatory-reporting-of-anti-semitism-in-schools/

So innocent Muslims too are the targets of these juvenile savages?

Kauder doesn’t get specific, but I wonder if those victims he refers to as attending ‘the wrong mosque’ might be Ahmadiyah.

Here in Indonesia, that harmless minority have suffered brutal persecution…Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer …and state-sponsored discrimination…

Why Not, Pak Wiranto? Avenge Munir – And The Martyrs!

    Wiranto

    ==

A baffling response from Indonesia’s Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto yesterday.

It seems that reporters ambushed him and asked him about the Munir case, which remains unresolved after 13 years.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/09/08/wiranto-on-munir-we-should-be-talking-about-development-now.html

Peculiar word to use, ‘ambush,’ as if a government minister should not be prepared to answer questions when he’s out in public.

Especially questions related to his specific ministerial responsibilities.

“You should have talked about our development, or our plundered territory. Why talk only about [Munir]?” Wiranto replied

Well, maybe, because more than a dozen years have elapsed, and the hireling Polycarpus, convicted of murdering the innocent Munir, has long since been released…

    Munir, Don’t forget him!

Munir’s Murderer Free – Jakarta Justice Mirrors Western Weakness

It’s all as much a mystery as when we published another post in February.

No NEED To Tell Munir Murder Story? But CAN They?

I hope President Jokowi is on the phone today, reminding Wiranto that Wiranto’s office has been appointed by Jokowi to lead the settlement of cases of human rights abuse in the country..

    Munir’s case is hardly unique.

More recent, equally heinous, crimes against humanity have been committed in Indonesia, such as the murder of the martyrs in the Cikeusik Pogrom…

Ahok Defies Back-Stabbers And Sectarian Fanatics!

Since the bloody riot two Fridays ago, when gangs of Islamist hoodlums attacked police and shamed Indonesia before the assembled cameras of the world’s media, a lot of that overseas media have lost interest in what’s happening in Jakarta.

    ————-

    ——-

    • So for the sake of fair play, I must mention today a young Muslim leader named Zuhairi Misrawi.
    • Despite the Jakarta Post branding him an ‘intellectual,’ he sounds a sensible fellow. He belongs to the NU, the Nahdlatul Ulama, a very large organisation, which sometimes comes out with rational thoughts, and this is one of those times.

    ———-

    • Zuhairi is urging the extremist so-called ‘scholars’ of the MUI, who are still state-funded, so far as I know…

….to back-track on their peculiar accusations of ‘blasphemy’ against Ahok, the Christian Governor of Jakarta.

As has been obvious to everyone from the start of the controversy, Zuhairi points out that it’s based on a misquote of a speech the governor made that was uploaded to the internet.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/11/07/mui-must-retract-biased-statement-against-ahok-nu-activist.html

We reported on Ahok’s reference to a Koranic verse before, and you can check that out…

…but it’s undoubtedly true that, if the issue had remained a case of notorious jihadist gang-groups caterwauling as usual, few normal Indonesians would have given a tinker’s cuss.

    But Zuhairi’s right.

“The MUI is the source of all of these problems.”

Blasphemous Savages Wreck A Mosque in Java

Once again the peaceful and utterly inoffensive Ahmadis have been the target of pig-ignorant blasphemous brutes.

In an unholy echo of a previous attack five years ago, in Cisalada, West Java, when a Koran was burned, even the holy books in the mosque were vandalised.

A swarm of savages caused Rp.200 million worth of damage to their mosque in Kendal, Central Java, the cowardly swine launching their onslaught in the wee hours when nobody was around to bear witness.

If Jokowi does get the National Police Chief of his choice, one hopes the first duty the new man is tasked to do is round up violent vermin across the archipelago and deploy well-armed officers to see to it that persecuted Ahmadis (and Christians X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’ Mayor Denies They Exist!’ ) in West Java, and everywhere, can worship freely in their own consecrated buildings.

Indonesia’s Arrogant Islamists – “Non-Denominational Belief Is Not a Religion!”

    e-KTP-contoh

    ==========

Interesting to see that it’s Ma’aruf Amin who’s being quoted on behalf of the MUI, the Indonesian Council of ‘Scholars,’ in the debate on the KTP, the ID document which every Indonesian must carry.

    =

    ma'arruf amin Ma’aruf Amin

    =

Ma’aruf, you’ll recall, is the enlightened figure who told us that female circumcision is a ‘human right.’   http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/home/rights-groups-push-for-female-circumcision-ban/566823  That barbaric custom is still widely practiced here.

“Circumcision hopefully will make her less amorous…” Islamist Ignorance Targets Tots

However, he has agreed that citizens should be free to leave the KTP’s ‘religion’ column blank.

Many of us might think that religion is a personal thing, nothing to do with the state,  but never mind, a teeny-weeny step towards religious liberty for the people of this wonderful land, after being forced for decades to fill in the column with one of the six religions.    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/11/14/ulema-council-wants-keep-religion-column.html

But don’t start the cheering too soon.

The MUI man went on to say his fellow-countrymen should not be allowed to enter their religion in the column if they don’t follow one of those six state-approved faiths.

    Why not?

“A non-denominational belief is not a religion so it should not be stated in the religion column,” said Ma’ruf.

Ma’aruf must certainly have a hot-line to God if he and his ‘scholar’ colleagues feel they can determine that minority faiths are NOT religions. But it’s up to them what they believe about mankind’s relationship with the Almighty. I’d be the last to deny them their right to think and worship as they see fit.

A pity they don’t take the same view.

They’ve been the most vociferous cheer-leaders for discriminatory state action against the inoffensive Ahmdiyah minority, and others who don’t share their dogmatic beliefs. They expressed approval of the infamous Tri-Ministerial Decree which has been invoked by vicious Islamist bigots as justification for sealing, and stealing, houses of worship belonging to Ahmadis.

    oooooooo

masjid-ahmadiyah-depok These Ahmadis were prevented from further prayers in their Depok, West Java, mosque by a simple step – the local authorities expropriated the whole building! Just like Communists, these sectarians!

    =======================

The endless persecution has even seen murder, the foul Cikeusik Pogrom.  of 2011, where three innocent men were martyred by a mob of savages.

    • ===================
    • The subsequent trial, when a handful of scumbags were put away for on average six months each (along with an Ahmadi who survived the atrocity!) showed the world how flimsy freedom of religion really can be, sadly.
    • ==================

Of course, Pak Ma’aruf doesn’t endorse violence.

    =

    Amidhan-MUI-2011 Amidhan

    =

Nor does his senior MUI colleague Amidhan.

As was made clear a couple of Ramadhans ago, when he spoke about Islamist thug raids on mini-markets that did not kow-tow sufficiently to the intolerance prevalent at that time of year. Amidhan has no time for thuggery, but if shop-keepers dare display indifference to the sectarian demands of the MUI…

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

The new Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman, has shown refreshing readiness to respect Ahmadi and other minority creeds’ rights – there are, after all, nearly ten million Indonesians not affiliated with ‘approved’ religions – and that’s great.

Will the MUI now inch into the modern world and insist to their followers that it is every citizens’ duty to take a stand for religious liberty and prevent the shameful assaults, arson and closures inflicted on these peaceful people?

Religious Liberty! Lukman Lights a Candle of Hope!

    freedom-of-religion

    oooooooooooooooo

    Well, Hell’s Teeth!

I have long hoped for this news, but to read it, at last, makes this rainy evening seem bright.

The Religious Affairs Minister, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, comes from an Islamist party, the very same one, PPP, which spawned his predecessor, the oleaginous intolerant, Suryadharma Ali.

    0000000000000000000

    main-lukman-hakim4 Lukman…

… NOT at all like Ali . Ali1

    0000000000000000000000

But since Ali had to step down in a swirl of corruption allegations, Lukman has shown he’s a man of a very different sort. A good bloke, as I called him last Sunday, he’s now promised a new bill of rights for all faiths, even those which under President SBY were horribly persecuted…

    oooooooooooooooooooo

Lukman said the new bill would target the closures and attacks on churches and Shiite and Ahmadiyah mosques…

    http://thejakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news/minister-promises-bill-protect-religious-minorities/

The current law is a green light to sectarian bigots.

    oooooooooooooooooo

One of the requirements stipulated in the joint decree is for applicants to get the signed approval for their house of worship from the heads of 60 neighboring households of a different faith.

    0000000000000000000000000000

The difficulties experienced in getting these should not be simplistically ascribed to hatred or prejudice – in Bekasi, some years ago, it was learned that some vindictive clerics had told local Muslims to toe the line or they’d be denied funeral services for their kin!

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2010/02/19/religious-mapping-dialogue-needed-end-spats-analysts.html

    oooooooo

masjid-ahmadiyah-depok These Ahmadis were prevented from further prayers in their Depok, West Java, mosque by a simple step – the local authorities expropriated the whole building! Just like Communists, these sectarians!

    0000

In Muslim majority Indonesia, Christian, Shiite and Ahmadi applicants have almost invariably failed to get the required number, while a few cases have been reported in parts of eastern Indonesia, which has a large Christian population, of Muslims not being allowed to build mosques.

And excellent news too that the package should include measures to help Shiite and Ahmadi communities being driven from their homes by mobs of Sunni Muslims — often with the support of the local police.

    • Ahmadiyah burned Koran in Cisalada Koran burning – by Sunni savages in Cisalada, West Java (they also burned the Ahmadis’ mosque and homes)
    • That’s the very issue I posted on earlier this evening, referring to the Lombok Ahmadis, but the Shia in Sampang suffered just as much.

But for all Lukman’ goodwill, he’s still showing a trace of unreality when he goes on to say his ministry would also work with local Islamic clerics — who are often instrumental in inciting hostilities against minority groups — to get them to embrace religious tolerance.

The JG journo is spot on with her comments on who’s usually to blame for intolerance and hostility. Indeed, many of the posts we’ve published on Islamist intolerance around Indonesia have had cause to mention the local chapters of the MUI.

-and those strange men of the State-funded MUI are all too often working hand-in-glove with local cops.

Time to cut the subsidies, Pak Lukman?
