Indonesia’s New Moral Movement? Who Yelled ‘Kill, Kill, Kill?’

As a moral movement, everything we do is based on moral values and justice… to uphold honesty and public welfare,” Din said during the announcement of KAMI’s formation on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

A total of 150 national figures are part of the coalition so far…

So since I care very much about the country I have lived in for more than two decades…

    .

    .

…I took a look at who’s involved in KAMI – Koalisi Aksi Menyelamatkan Indonesia (KAMI) (Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia)

    • and you can too, using the JP link..

    https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2020/08/19/moral-movement-kami-aims-to-save-indonesia-says-cofounder-din-syamsuddin.html

….but one name leapt out from the page.

…including Islam Defenders Front (FPI) chairman Sobri Lubis…

    Remember him?

    .

…or more precisely, his infamous rant?

     Just watch the video-

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4

    – which shows him issuing his monstrous call for his devout audience to ‘Bunuh, Bunuh, Bunuh (KILL KILL KILL!) Ahmadis, a peaceful, utterly inoffensive religious minority, whom our UK readers may have noticed..

    .

    .

….incitement for which Sobri Lubis was never prosecuted, BTW! Nor, as far as I know, has he even apologised!

As for his ‘Islam Defenders Front,’ the FPI…just look!

    ..

Note – this picture on the left was taken long before masks were decreed as a virus precaution!

Din Syamsuddin, quoted at the top of the page, is the former head of Muhammadiyah, a ‘moderate’ Islamic mass movement here.

    .

    Din, of Muhammadiyah

    ..

He is well-informed, and certainly knows all about the FPI, whose Sobri Lubis he appears happy to welcome as a supporter of his moral movement…based on moral values and justice…

Why, you may ask, are such things happening, and part of the answer must lie in the eighth ‘demand’ which the Jakarta Post helpfully lists.

…The coalition also conveyed eight of its demands to the government:

    1. State administrators must enforce the state administration and management to be in accordance with the spirit and values of the 1945 Constitution and state ideology Pancasila.

    2. The government must seriously tackle the COVID-19 pandemic by allocating adequate budgets and directly help the poor who are economically affected.

    3. The government must overcome the economic recession for the interest of small businesses and domestic and informal workers, rather than large and foreign entrepreneurs.

    4. The government must stop chaotic and discriminatory law enforcement, eradicate “law mafias”, stop the criminalization of political opponents, arrest and severely punish looters of state assets.

    5. State administrators must stop practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) as well as the system and practices of oligarchy, kleptocracy, political dynasty and power abuse.

    So far so good!?

Many Indonesians probably agree with much of the above, but…

…a moral movement, everything we do is based on moral values and justice…

    Here’s Number Six!

    6. State administrators must not give opportunities for the rise of communism and other anti-Pancasila ideologies, including separatism; must stop the stigmatization of religious groups with issues of intolerance, radicalism and extremism that divide the society.

The government should not bow to certain countries to enforce economic and foreign policies

    Aha!

…stigmatization of religious groups with issues of intolerance, radicalism and extremism…

Well, God forbid anyone would ‘stigmatize’ Sobri Lubis or his “Islam Defenders Front” with issues of extremism!

Ever Heard Of Parakansalak? Time You Did!

Don’t know about back in The Old Country, but the BBC World we get here in Jakarta has been running show-off ads featuring famous folk they’ve interviewed.

One such is President Jokowi, telling us how tolerant Indonesia is.

    .

    .

Maybe he could make a day-trip and ask the local authorities in Sukabumi, West Java what part of his broadcast they failed to understand.

Their administrative area includes a place called Parakansalak, where dwell a number of Ahmadis.

The Ahmadiyah are a peaceful, extremely inoffensive religious minority, but have been horribly persecuted here, for no reason, except Islamist intolerance.

    Examples?.

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

     …

    ahmadis transito
Savage bigots in Lombok destroy Ahmadi homes -100 cops just watched – and that wasn’t this month, it was YEARS ago.
    ….

    ahmadiyah2-e1285119271327

Ahmadi kids in ‘shelter’ after their families were driven out of their homes by vicious Islamists

When President SBY was in power, a leader notable for his open mind on matters of religion…

    =

….a specifically discriminatory diktat was declared, the notorious Tri-Ministerial Decree.

I used to hope Jokowi would chuck that diktat in one of his palace trash-cans, but so far, no such luck.

    Anyway, back to Parakansalak!

Sadly, in 2008, their mosque was subjected to an arson attack by a mob of bigoted savages. After 12 years, the victimised community decided they should start reconstruction of their place of worship.

According to the Jakarta Post, the local Ahmadi leader, a Mr. Asep  Saepudin, felt obliged, on 3rd March, to report intimidation to the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM)

    Why?

It seems that work was going ahead at the mosque when a senior police officer, named Slamet Irianto, showed up and told the work-men to stop work.

    Why?

This is where it gets weird.

Remember, it’s a local top cop we’re talking about.

The police chief said that a mob would come to the site and ransack the building if the builders continued.

So he tells the good people to cower from evil savages?

Surely he has officers at his nearby precinct whom he can summon, if the mob is detected in the vicinity.

Surely the proper thing for a policeman of any rank is to take steps to ensure law-abiding folk can get on with their legitimate business.

Surely if a pack of pig-ignorant louts seek to interfere, the cops, all armed here, could simply fire a warning shot, then take out a few of the scumbags if they refuse to scarper.

The report gets even more nauseating the longer you read it, how local government turns out to be as unfamiliar with the concept of religious liberty as the cops there…

    .

….but here’s the link if you wish to use it.

I try to write about the plight of the Ahmadiyah from time to time, but used to write a lot.
I should get back to that level of frequency.

    Dani the Primitive

    O

    Sickening!

And yet for all the fine talk of pluralist democracy, of a Mind-Set Revolution, that we have heard in recent years…

…there has been no move to repeal that oppressive Tri-Ministerial Decree  –https://jakartaglobe.id/news/ahmadiyah-followers-indonesia-attacked/–  promulgated during the time in office of previous president, Democrat Party nominee SBY…

    ==

…a diktat that deprived the blameless and peaceful Ahmadi minority of the fundamental freedom to worship as they wished.

It still makes me angry, but I no longer hope that religious liberty will be restored in my lifetime.

Every year you sound the remembrance bugle for these innocent men.
Then it became even sadder reading for me when that other Ahmadi was murdered near my old home town in Scotland.
That crime was committed by a Pakistani, as hateful as the mob in Cikeusik. As far as I know, that Pakistani was convicted but not deported.
      God knows why.
But at least the court in the UK took the case seriously and though the sentence fell short of what i’d have hoped, it was not the complete mockery of justice that followed Cikeusik.

Islamist Fanatics Threaten Peaceful Minority, Again!

As you know, I went walkabout overseas a week or so ago, so missed some local news, notably the latest intolerant outburst by the self-styled Islam Defenders Front, the notorious FPI, whose hate and violence we have oft recorded, not to mention their ‘bravery!’

    fpi skulk in mosque

IslamoNazis V Freedom-Fighters? – Some Chicken, Some Neck

IslamoNazi Gauleiter – “Women Already Have Limitations..

FPI in West Java – ‘Let’s Burn Out the Orphans!’

I had not heard news of the outcome of the huge petition against renewal of their permit to operate as a ‘community organisation…’

    Jakarta – Anti-Fanatic Petition

…so I just checked – President Jokowi’s Minister Wiranto said this week that no decision has been reached. https://m.republika.co.id/berita/nasional/politik/19/07/19/puvqgh409-wiranto-belum-diputuskan-izin-fpi-dilanjutkan-atau-tidak

    We wait expectantly.

This time the white-shirt extremists were belly-aching about the inoffensive Ahmadiyah minority and the location was held at South Sulawesi’s Provincial Assembly…

    .

Sulawesi ( once called Celebes) is in the middle of the map, a fairly large island with long peninsular ’arms and legs.’

    .

    …on Friday 12th July.

The bigoted gang arrived in pick-up trucks to protest the local legislature’s allegedly inadequate position on peaceful dissenters, who do not share their theological interpretations.

One ranter was reportedly screaming that he did not want the nation to be “cursed by Allah because of the sect!”

    .

    .

According to Timur News, the Islamists had numerous demands, including the Ahmadis’ “immediate repentance” and a police investigation into alleged “blasphemy” – which presumably refers to those theological differences between the Ahmadis and the vigilante gang.

As I have already said, the Ahmadis are utterly inoffensive, and peaceful, despite the frightful brutality visited upon them for years here in Indonesia.

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

    ahmadis transito
Savage bigots in Lombok destroy Ahmadi homes -100 cops just watched – and that wasn’t this month, it was YEARS ago.
    ….

    ahmadiyah2-e1285119271327

Ahmadi kids in ‘shelter’ after their families were driven out of their homes by vicious Islamists

But what is truly offensive is the creepy call by the FPI, ‘inviting all Muslims to always supervise every activity of religious blasphemy specifically in the city of Makassar.’

In other words, not content with being fanatic foes of religious liberty themselves, the FPI want to turn the province, and indeed the country, into a sticky-beak cauldron…

    .

    .

…nasty nosey-parkers ‘supervising’ how fellow-citizens worship Almighty God.

And even more offensive, is Point Five of their diktat list – viz.

If Ahmadiyah is not disbanded in 3 × 24 hours, all of its activities in disseminating its heretical ideas, we will forcibly dissolve every Ahmadiyah activity in our own way…’  https://www.timurnews.com/10259-2/10259/

Now THAT merits a serious police investigation!

We have seen how these bigots ‘forcibly’ handle anyone who does anything they don’t like, as our photo of thugs attacking little food-stalls in Sulawesi some years ago..

    ..the ‘offending’ victims’ being who?

Workers enjoying a simple lunchtime snack during Ramadan.

Nor should we forget the bloodthirsty call, by a leading FPI notable to a savage mob.

Just watch the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4  –which shows him issuing his monstrous call for his rabble audience to ‘Bunuh, Bunuh, Bunuh’ (KILL KILL KILL!) innocent Ahmadis.

….incitement for which he was never prosecuted, BTW!

All very true, Ross, but I want to know why the government has still no decision yeton renewing the FPI pemit to be a ‘community organisation.’
Inthe report you write about, they threaten to ‘forcibly dissolve’ a religious activity they do not like. That alone is reason enough to refuse renewal. They are violent vigilante extremists and Indonesia does not need gangsters.

Lest We Forget – Cikeusik 2011 – Anniversary Of An Islamist Pogrom

It was on 6th February 2011 that we watched the news on Indonesian TV, the Cikeusik Pogrom, a thousand-strong mob…

    =

…of vile sectarian savages swaggering along country roads not so very far from where we sat in our comfortable Jakarta home.

    Their objective?

A handful of innocent fellow-citizens, whose only ‘offence’ was to worship God Almighty in a manner different from their manner.

The filthy swine, under the watchful eyes of on-duty police, laid siege to a small habitation and in due course got hold of their prey, dragged them out and battered them to death.

Nobody has ever been charged with those murders, although everybody was well aware of the foul crime that had been committed.

Sometime Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa’s bizarre comment was, sadly, the nearest any major figure came to acknowledging the devastating effect the slaughter of innocent men had on Indonesia’s reputation.

I was still so young when the mob murdered those innocent men but I remember we were all in shock at how they were not stopped by the police there.
Many of us will never forget.
Thank you Ross that you remind us.

Every year on the anniversary you post something like this. Some of us appreciate it.
Same goes for the way you keep your teeth clamped on those Gramedia book-burners.
They are a disgrace to their country and deserve to go bankrupt.
When the ayatollahs take over, Gramedia’s appeasement will do them no good.

Book-Hating Bigots V Peaceful Religious Dissenters – Cops As Referees?

I hope you had a pleasant weekend.

    I did.

But a congregation of decent, peaceful, inoffensive Indonesians did not.

An Islamist mob showed up to ‘reject the launch of a book called Haqiqatul Wahy on Saturday, planned to have been held in the Ahmadis’ Mubarak Mosque, in East Bandung.

Accompanied by a number of police and TNI officials, dozens of people who claimed to be a combination of 27 mass organizations in Bandung, including the organization of the Islamic Defenders Front and the Sundanese Champions broke up an Ahmadiyah gathering.

Clarification for new readers, on this latest shameful affront to Indonesia’s once proud principles of religious tolerance –

‘TNI’ means the country’s armed forces.

And the Ahmadiyah are the most persecuted, yet paradoxically the most peaceful and inoffensive, religious minority in the land.

    And the ‘Islamic Defenders’ Front?’

    That’s the FPI!

Here’s a picture to illustrate their concept of religious tolerance.

    =

    =

Oh, yeah, that’s about Buddhists, and then there’s women…IslamoNazi Gauleiter – “Women Already Have Limitations, Let Alone Non-Muslims!” …and as for their previous record on Ahmadis, read this –FPI in West Java – ‘Let’s Burn Out the Orphans!’

The Ahmadis’ bigot tormentors have made their lives a misery for years, oppression which intensified after the self-styled ‘scholars’ of the MUI issued a fatwa against them…

    =

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

…a dogmatic diktat soon followed by the infamous Tri-Ministerial Decree promulgated ten years ago, under President SBY.

Here are a few previous posts to bring you up to speed with the evils done to them over the past decade or so.…

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

In Squalid Internal Exile, Lombok Ahmadis Denied Voting Rights

    ==============

But back to Bandung this past weekend, where the mob was ‘overseen by police and armed forces,https://news.okezone.com/read/2019/01/05/525/2000379/acara-peluncuran-buku-ahmadiyah-haqiqatul-wahy-dibubarkan-massa and the bigots’ vehicle was seen to display ‘black and white banners which in Indonesia are identified with Hizbut Tahrir, which was banned last year.’

Not only that, but they maintained that their grotesque intolerance was justified by the local (West Java) regulation version of the afore-mentioned Tri-Ministerial Decree -‘which already clearly outlaws activities of Jemaah Ahmadiyah.

So said Muhammad Ro’in, Chair of the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Council, a spokesman for the mob, adding a rant about the theological content of the Ahmadi book, which, he declared, meant that stopping the book-launch was ‘not a violation of the human rights of the JAI followers.’

    ==

The Chairman of Jamaah Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI)  in Bandung, Mansyur Ahmad, felt that what was happening was unjust, but simply said that he accepted their fate at the hands of the mob, quoting an Ahmadi motto, ‘Love to all, enmity to nobody.’

    ============

‘They have agreed to disperse of their own accord at 10.30am,’ said Ro’in, while one ranting Islamist yelled that if they did not disperse, ‘we will go in there!.”

    =

    =

At 10.30 the bigot rabble were duly loitering at the scene, with dozen of cops simultaneously on duty there.

The officer in charge, Irman Sugema, denied they were taking the side of the intolerant mob.

“No,no, actually we police are on guard. If we weren’t, they might already have gone in there…we are on guard.”

    =

He stressed that the police were working to prevent clashes between the two sides. According to him, the event ended one and a half hours earlier than scheduled, based on an agreement between the two parties facilitated by the Coordinating Board of Trustees of the Society of Communities (Bakorpakem) in Bandung and accompanied by police and the TNI.

Commander Sugema appears to think that the job of the police is to prevent mayhem.

Keeping the peace is of course important.

But equally, allowing bands of fanatics to threaten mayhem if decent people do not cease and desist from perfectly respectable, legitimate and plainly peaceful activities?

That’s not what many people, here in Indonesia and abroad, expect of the constabulary.

I personally can’t see any moral equivalence between people holding a harmless book launch and a pack of intolerant bullies.

The cops have batons and guns and could have dispersed the louts who came there to cause trouble.

The atmosphere had heated up when several people uttered utterances of hatred and harsh words.

One of the journalists present, Rio Tuasikai, nearly became the victim of mob violence for recording  one hate-freak’s outbursts.

Rio was dragged off by five of the louts and forced to delete his film.

    Were they arrested?

Were there any arrests for ‘SARA?”

That’s the Indonesian term for incitement to ethnic or sectarian hate.

    =====

Anyway, too depressing to go on about this. My Indonesian readers can use any number ofl inks to learn more.

I’ll wind up with a little more more context.

This hatred for books among Islamist fanatics is nothing new.

    We even had a book-BURNING, Nazi-style, a few years ago…

    =======

…in which Indonesia’s largest publishing company, Gramedia, gleefully participated!

And it should be noted that a mob of savages even managed a Koran-burning, again a few years ago…

Nothing to Do This Jakarta Sunday? Karnaval!

I am not in the habit of offering my Indonesian readers a fun day out with fanatical Islamists, but having seen this huge billboard at Slipi last week, it seemed churlish not to share with you the opportunity to savour the delights of a ‘Karnaval!’

——.Hasil gambar untuk fpi spanduk 2018 slipi

    ooooooooooo

I was crossing the footbridge at the Halte Busway at Slipi Pertamburan, when I spotted the huge ad, so I paused my stately stride to study the smiling faces, several of whom I recognised, not least that of the ‘Grand Imam’ of the FPI, the ‘Islam Defender Front,’ Habib Rizieq, whom we have featured so many times in our writings…

    • ===
    • ==
    •  Habib Rizieq, who famously suggested the Christian Governor Ahok be slain for unacceptably quoting some Koranic verse –.“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.

…and there too, second from the left, was his longtime henchman, Sobri Lubis…

    =

Sobri Lubis, infamous for his exhortation to a mob of rabid savages to ‘kill, kill, kill’ the peaceful Ahmadiyah minority. See him on the video!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7RLCXNdKF4

…another figure well-known to our readers.

Who could resist a chance to see these luminaries up close?

But it’s the ‘Karnaval’ that tickled my fancy.

    ???????????????????????????????

    =

Halfway down the list of attractions, you can see it…

    ‘Karnaval Laskar Pembela Islam.’

That’s the ‘Islam Defence FIGHTERS,’ who are presumably even more militant than the rest of the FPI…

    =

….and we know how militant most of them are!

    ——–

    ========

So if you have nowt better to do tomorrow, off you go and see what constitutes a ‘carnival’ for such people!

No need to be scared by their ‘militancy.’

Pancasila? Seven Years Post-Cikeusik, Ahmadis Still Suffer

It was on February 6th, 2011, not so very far from Jakarta, that the infamous Cikeusik Pogrom occurred, three innocent Ahmadis….

    =

Cikeusik – cowardly scum commit sectarian murder

Watch the pigs at their bloody work on this link..   http://www.liveleak.com/view.

…savagely bludgeoned to death by a mob of cowardly Islamist fanatics.

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

We lament this atrocity every year and remind all prepared to listen that no justice has yet been done, no charges of murder brought against the swine responsible.

But the persecution of, the denial of religious liberty to, this peaceful and decent community continues today.

    It’s never stopped.

    =

    =

Just put ‘Ahmadis’ into our search box over there to the right and you can see the endless saga of vicious sectarianism that afflicts them.

    ====

Just a week or so ago, just a few miles from where I live, just across the city limits that separate Jakarta from Tangerang in the Province of Banten, Islamist bigotry reared its ugly head,

I quote from the local newspaper.

Pemuda Pancasila (PAP) Ciputat, accompanied residents and a number of community leaders to reject the construction of the Ahmadiyah Jemaah Mosque in Ciputat,  South Tangerang, on Saturday (20/01/2018)

    .

Dampingi Warga Serua Indah, Pemuda Pancasila Tolak Pembangunan Masjid Jemaah Ahmadiyah

Their rejection of the Ahmadiyah Mosque was also demonstrated by the installation of banners at the entrance of the empty land.

Needless to say, the notorious thug-gang, the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI) was reportedly present. But that’s par for the course whenever intolerance is in the air.

FPI in West Java – ‘Let’s Burn Out the Orphans!’

    Eager to kill!

    =

IslamoNazi Gauleiter – “Women Already Have Limitations, Let Alone Non-Muslims!”

Again, search ‘FPI’ and you’ll see what we mean.

It was the presence of the Pemuda Pancasila that caught my attention more than anything else.

Pemuda simply means Youth, but Pancasila is Indonesia’s national ideology, a key tenet of which is pluralism, respect for all Indonesians’ right to worship Almighty God.

Except it seems, if they upset the so-called ‘scholars’ of the MUI, the Indonesian Scholars Council, whose fatwas are sometimes just laughable…

    =

    …but not always.

The bigoted fatwa they unleashed some years ago against the Ahmadis has been invoked by fanatics over and over to stomp their right to worship, often by wicked, violent means.

So an outfit using the word Pancasila ought to be defending religious liberty, you’d think. Instead, astonishingly, the PP spokesman at the scene declared that –

” Then the basis of our rejection was quite clear, that there is no last Prophet other than the Prophet Muhammad SAW, “said Abdul Aziz.

Another protester told the media –

“So in addition to the rejection of the construction of the mosque, we also reject the Ahmadiyah congregation…”.

    http://www.suaradewan.com/dampingi-warga-serua-indah-pemuda-pancasila-tolak-pembangunan-masjid-jemaah-ahmadiyah/#

So the objection to the proposed Ahmadi mosque is NOT based on anything that you or I would deem planning grounds, no access problems, no infrastructure problems, no…

It’s purely because the peaceful minority holds views at variance with Islamist dogma. Very sad, that seven years after the Cikeusik Pogrom, there’s no sign of any mind-set revolution in Tangerang, nor in many other places…
