Not what I expected when I woke up today, but as night falls on Jakarta, I find myself applauding a Labour Shadow Cabinet member on the basis of a report in one of the UK’s most Europhiliac media.

 

Labour’s shadow transport secretary Andy McDonald urged Sir Richard to “look to his own considerable reserves” and withdraw his proposal that Virgin airlines staff take eight weeks’ unpaid leave to mitigate the economic consequences of the coronavirus.

UK Charity Commissioners? Slap Down This Brexit-Hating ‘Charity!’

So  – the ‘bosses of the London market have asked DExEU to remove their branding from the video saying Brexit is “disastrous” and adding:

“We do not wish to be associated with it in anyway.”

And some leftist named Darren Henaghan, managing director of Borough Market, brays that Brexit ‘goes against the culinary haven’s “vibrant” welcoming of people from the EU and beyond.’

What an ass!

Not just because he falls back on the buzz-word ‘inappropriate!’

  It’s a ‘CHARITY!’

More precisely, it’s a ‘charitable trust.’

Are there not rules that require charities to refrain from taking political sides, especially in matters of controversy?

If, therefore, Henaghan had complained about the video compromising his “charity’s” duty-bound  impartiality, I could readily understand that concern.
