February 6 – Nine Years Ago, But Cikeusik Pogrom Never Forgotten!
I was at home in West Jakarta when we saw the TV news. I was shocked, but also angry, that this sectarian atrocity took place while police were present.
I was angrier still at the grotesque mockery of justice that followed…
https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2011/06/11/indonesia-ahmadiyah-trial-prosecution-or-persecution/
…the filthy murderous pigs who martyred those innocent Ahmadis…
…
Islamist pig at Cikeusik
…
…the HANDFUL of those pigs ( out of a thousand cowardly Islamist bigots!) who were eventually prosecuted given derisory sentences…

…and Deden, the one brave survivor of the slaughter?
Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer
……double the sentence meted out to an evil young primitive named Dani, whom you may see on the horrible video, dashing a rock down on the head of a helpless Ahmadi.
O
Sickening!
And yet for all the fine talk of pluralist democracy, of a Mind-Set Revolution, that we have heard in recent years…
…there has been no move to repeal that oppressive Tri-Ministerial Decree –https://jakartaglobe.id/news/ahmadiyah-followers-indonesia-attacked/– promulgated during the time in office of previous president, Democrat Party nominee SBY…

…a diktat that deprived the blameless and peaceful Ahmadi minority of the fundamental freedom to worship as they wished.
It still makes me angry, but I no longer hope that religious liberty will be restored in my lifetime.

A story I’d not have heard, Ross, but for you.
Every year you sound the remembrance bugle for these innocent men.
Then it became even sadder reading for me when that other Ahmadi was murdered near my old home town in Scotland.
That crime was committed by a Pakistani, as hateful as the mob in Cikeusik. As far as I know, that Pakistani was convicted but not deported.
God knows why.
But at least the court in the UK took the case seriously and though the sentence fell short of what i’d have hoped, it was not the complete mockery of justice that followed Cikeusik.
Please keep writing this annual jab to the conscience of the Indonesian legal system.

Well done, Ross!
Every year, you mark this injustice.
I am sure many, many Indonesians and us expats too, share your disappointment that the bigots who murdered these men were never punished.
As for those ‘judges’ what can we say?
