FGM ‘Widespread’ In Indonesia! Will ‘Migrants’ Spread It Wider, To YOUR Land?

So this is not a question of ‘Islamophobia,’ whatever that nonsense word might mean. Sinta is a prominent Muslim, as is the other sensible woman mentioned later in this post.

Unfortunately, the benighted self-styled ‘scholars’ of the MUI – Indonesian Ulema Council  –  have led many simple people in the kampungs to think otherwise. We’ve reported before on that unspeakable old man, Ma’aruf Amin, and his outrageous claim that not only is the horrendous custom acceptable but a ‘human right.’

And the report reminds us that Ma’aruf’s outfit issued a fatwa challenging the ban that existed until the spineless government rolled over and allowed the horror to recur as a legal practice – a 2010 guideline issued by the ministry that overturned its own ban and instead explained in detail how the procedure should be carried out.

Fortunately, Indonesia re-entered the modern world last year, when that ministerial guideline was withdrawn last year, meaning that the 2006 ban now stands. But the practice continues.

As it will while callous clerics encourage it.

And we all know how callous many clerics are, especially in the Arab World.

Any aspirant ‘migrant’ should be required to make a sworn statement, repudiating FGM  – if they won’t, they should be barred. Any who are subsequently caught perpetrating such assaults should face hard labour for years, followed by expulsion

While the Jakarta Globe’s latest story on the ‘creeping shariah’ plan to impose nationwide prohibition on Indonesia does mention the instigatory role of two Islamist parties, there’s a shocking gap in the key part of the report, namely who’s in charge of the KPAI.

That’s the National Child Protection Agency, and new readers may be unaware of what has happened within that seemingly innocuous body over the last year or two.

However, as we have reported more than once, the KPAI Chairman, Asrorun, is a leading member of the notoriously intolerant MUI, the Islamist ‘Indonesian Council of Scholars.’  Not only that, but he’s the sometime boss of its Fatwa Commission!

Child Protection?

And as for children’s other rights, has Asrorun disowned the outrageous sexism that shariah decrees when a parent dies and his children inherit whatever he leaves behind?  The iniquitous inheritance rules embedded in shariah make it very clear girls are a poor second to boys in that matter.

It’s downright weird that the JG failed to mention Asrorun’s real motivation, his bigoted sectarian ideology.
