I hope you had a pleasant weekend.
I did.
But a congregation of decent, peaceful, inoffensive Indonesians did not.
An Islamist mob showed up to ‘reject the launch of a book called Haqiqatul Wahy on Saturday, planned to have been held in the Ahmadis’ Mubarak Mosque, in East Bandung.
Accompanied by a number of police and TNI officials, dozens of people who claimed to be a combination of 27 mass organizations in Bandung, including the organization of the Islamic Defenders Front and the Sundanese Champions broke up an Ahmadiyah gathering.
Clarification for new readers, on this latest shameful affront to Indonesia’s once proud principles of religious tolerance –
‘TNI’ means the country’s armed forces.
And the Ahmadiyah are the most persecuted, yet paradoxically the most peaceful and inoffensive, religious minority in the land.
And the ‘Islamic Defenders’ Front?’
That’s the FPI!
Here’s a picture to illustrate their concept of religious tolerance.

The Ahmadis’ bigot tormentors have made their lives a misery for years, oppression which intensified after the self-styled ‘scholars’ of the MUI issued a fatwa against them…

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”
…a dogmatic diktat soon followed by the infamous Tri-Ministerial Decree promulgated ten years ago, under President SBY.
Here are a few previous posts to bring you up to speed with the evils done to them over the past decade or so.…

…
Savage bigots in Lombok destroy Ahmadi homes -100 cops just watched – and that wasn’t this month, it was YEARS ago.

In Squalid Internal Exile, Lombok Ahmadis Denied Voting Rights
==============
But back to Bandung this past weekend, where the mob was ‘overseen by police and armed forces,‘https://news.okezone.com/read/2019/01/05/525/2000379/acara-peluncuran-buku-ahmadiyah-haqiqatul-wahy-dibubarkan-massa and the bigots’ vehicle was seen to display ‘black and white banners which in Indonesia are identified with Hizbut Tahrir, which was banned last year.’
Not only that, but they maintained that their grotesque intolerance was justified by the local (West Java) regulation version of the afore-mentioned Tri-Ministerial Decree -‘which already clearly outlaws activities of Jemaah Ahmadiyah.‘
So said Muhammad Ro’in, Chair of the Indonesian Islamic Da’wah Council, a spokesman for the mob, adding a rant about the theological content of the Ahmadi book, which, he declared, meant that stopping the book-launch was ‘not a violation of the human rights of the JAI followers.’
……..

Mansyur Ahmad
==
The Chairman of Jamaah Ahmadiyah Indonesia (JAI) in Bandung, Mansyur Ahmad, felt that what was happening was unjust, but simply said that he accepted their fate at the hands of the mob, quoting an Ahmadi motto, ‘Love to all, enmity to nobody.’

Ahmadi women leaving the book-launch under police supervision
============
‘They have agreed to disperse of their own accord at 10.30am,’ said Ro’in, while one ranting Islamist yelled that if they did not disperse, ‘we will go in there!.”
=

=
At 10.30 the bigot rabble were duly loitering at the scene, with dozen of cops simultaneously on duty there.
The officer in charge, Irman Sugema, denied they were taking the side of the intolerant mob.
“No,no, actually we police are on guard. If we weren’t, they might already have gone in there…we are on guard.”
=

He stressed that the police were working to prevent clashes between the two sides. According to him, the event ended one and a half hours earlier than scheduled, based on an agreement between the two parties facilitated by the Coordinating Board of Trustees of the Society of Communities (Bakorpakem) in Bandung and accompanied by police and the TNI.
Commander Sugema appears to think that the job of the police is to prevent mayhem.
Keeping the peace is of course important.
But equally, allowing bands of fanatics to threaten mayhem if decent people do not cease and desist from perfectly respectable, legitimate and plainly peaceful activities?
That’s not what many people, here in Indonesia and abroad, expect of the constabulary.
I personally can’t see any moral equivalence between people holding a harmless book launch and a pack of intolerant bullies.
The cops have batons and guns and could have dispersed the louts who came there to cause trouble.
The atmosphere had heated up when several people uttered utterances of hatred and harsh words.
One of the journalists present, Rio Tuasikai, nearly became the victim of mob violence for recording one hate-freak’s outbursts.
Rio was dragged off by five of the louts and forced to delete his film.
Were they arrested?
Were there any arrests for ‘SARA?”
That’s the Indonesian term for incitement to ethnic or sectarian hate.

Anyway, too depressing to go on about this. My Indonesian readers can use any number ofl inks to learn more.
I’ll wind up with a little more more context.
This hatred for books among Islamist fanatics is nothing new.
We even had a book-BURNING, Nazi-style, a few years ago…

…in which Indonesia’s largest publishing company, Gramedia, gleefully participated!
And it should be noted that a mob of savages even managed a Koran-burning, again a few years ago…

…although to be fair, that has to put in context – the brutes burned much of the little town where the Ahmadis lived.

Good the way you draw the comparison, the sick Western pervert teachers psychologically manipulating their students and that ‘teacher’ beast in Indonesia physically molesting his students.
The Indonesian court had the right idea, kill the rapist.
And why aren’t those Western ‘teachers’ not facing trial?
