Jennie BlackPink – Just Another Outbreak Of Aurat Outrage!

Just a little light-hearted look at ‘aurat’ today.

And how lighter one’s heart is at the sight of Jennie!

Pretty Jenny, and uptights’ infantile censorship

I owe a debt of thanks to WowKeren.com, which is run by people undoubtedly much more clever than the clowns at Google Translate, who, in response to my request, served this up

Jennie BLACKPINK (Black Pink) recently took a photo shoot with ELLE. After the photos were released, fans felt Jennie was too sensual and indulged in a lot of genitals so they tried to cover it up… https://www.wowkeren.com/berita/tampil/00326428.html

Honestly, ignoring the kooky English, and admittedly it’s difficult to render the uptight word ‘aurat’ into anything that makes sense…

    .

.’Fathers, Husbands, Their ‘aurat’ is your responsibility!’

….can any of you normal folk see anything untoward about Jennie’s minimal cleavage or graceful legs?

Sadly, numerous people here really believe that just about every part of a woman’s body should be covered, including not just ‘genitalia’ but mid-riffs, shoulders, knees etc.

Yes, pathetic, yet if any girl likes to go out and about looking like The Michelin Man, okay.

But the Dark Age notion that husbands and fathers dictate a gal’s dress-code…

    .

    .

However, the delicious young Korean ladies who constitute the Black Pink girl-band do seem to bring out the backwards!

Can’t call such freakin’ killjoys ‘fans!’

Remember, a year or more ago!

‘The clothes do not even cover the thighs!’

Meanwhile there’s minor stuff like a global pandemic and the marxist BLM revolt against civilisation going on.

How can ANYONE waste time getting uptight about a cute little chick whose whole body looks great?!?

My friends and me talk and laugh at this, how can anyone say Jenny is not nice to look at.
Crazy fanatic men do not like women. It will not matter the women dress in ugly clothes or pretty like Jenny, fanatic men still want to be big boss.
We should be free to show everything Jenny is showing. Men do not like women then no need look at women.

    Thigh-Phobia Update – Countering Indonesia’s Kill-Joys With Comedy

You will remember, perhaps, the killjoy campaign against that pretty K-Pop group Black-Pink, which we wrote about last month!

    ..

BlackPink OK – Thigh Panic Hits Indonesia!

‘The clothes do not even cover the thighs!’

So whined the middle-aged misery who started the censorship petition, and incredibly, the tax-funded bureaucrats whose job it is to safeguard people here from the awful sight of female thighs ( not male, it seems!)  caved in – that utterly inoffensive ad was removed from public view.

    ===

Just in case you appreciate, like I do, attractive young females, here are a few more Black Pink photos.

So sadly, censorious prudes made Indonesia something of a laughing stock.

But laughter has not yet been banned here, not quite yet, and the proof of that was a retaliatory petition, not the big one I mentioned in that previous post, but a smaller one, which nevertheless got quite a few signatures.

That petition requested support for Maimon Herawati, the initiator of the BLACKPINK ad stop petition –

    – to become a member of the girl band!

    =

    AND HERE SHE IS!

Usai Stop Iklan Shopee, Muncul Dukungan Maimon Herawati Jadi Personel BLACKPINK

    ====================================

Can you picture her in such a role?

    ===========

Image result for har har har

I have to say, poor old Maimon looks exactly as I expected she’d look! Namely, like somebody who is not having much fun!

I feel sorry for her, in a way, but would feel sympathy only if she had not, by her petition, shown that she doesn’t want the rest of us to have much fun either.

    https://www.change.org/p/blink-indonesia-bantu-maimon-herawati-jadi-anggota-blackpink

That’s the link to the petition, which has evidently languished since the forces of gloom triumphed.

Perhaps, just for fun (God Forbid!) you readers could add your names to it.

It will have no practical effect but it costs you no money and only moments of your time, and would show a bit of moral support to the forces of humour and cheer here.

I do not think she will accept invitations to join the band.

    Jakarta Censors Exhibit Thigh-Phobia Symptoms!

Through an official statement issued on its website, the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) issued a stern warning to 11 television stations that aired Blackpink Shopee ads and the “Shopee Road to 12.12 Birthday Sale” event.

    https://www.bbc.com/indonesia/trensosial-46534564

    apocalypse-30

And that’s another lurch into desolation, surely, arguably made worse if the claim is true that the KPI’s kill-joy commissars are not merely succumbing to pressure from backward petitioners against the delightful and not remotely offensive advert..

    ..

    Image result for shopee blackpink

…but were ALREADY fretting over ‘respect for politeness norms stipulated in the Broadcasting Broadcasting Code and Broadcast Program Standards (P3SPS) Guidelines.’

Like, uh, what is IMPOLITE about those attractive, well-dressed girls?

    Answer- nothing at all!

But now no less than eleven tv stations have been warned against the thigh menace…

    .

    Shock Horror – it’s a thigh!

    ==

    OMG! Another thigh!

    ….

    …and threatened with ‘sanctions’

KPI commissioner Dewi Setyarini denied that her wet-blanket comrades had simply buckled to the wowsers.

    =

    Dewi Setyarini

    ..

She insisted that the KPI team had submitted a complaint about the advertisement, long before the petition appeared demanding the removal of the advertisement.

“We were actually discussing it last week (the advertisement),

How that ad offends ‘politeness’ is nowhere explained, but the Indonesian word ‘kesopanan’ can also be translated as ‘decency…’

….so we have to ask once more –

WHAT is ‘indecent’ about short skirts?

Except in the narrow minds of fanatics, of whom, sadly, there are a lot here, like those sad people who present shariah costume as ‘Modest Fashion…’

Offensive In Jakarta – Women Can Be Modest Without Being Sectarian!

….a form of words grossly offensive to the millons of normal, polite, decent women who dress modestly every day but do not get their knickers in a twist about allowing us guys a glance at a nice knee…

…a spot of cleavage, a shapely thigh or even a sexy shoulder!

Who can forget the bizarre outburst from Suryadharma Ali, when he was President SBY’s Minister of Religious Affairs…

.The Beat, Jakarta, 29th March 2012 –  Indonesia’s powerful Religious Affairs minister, Suryadharma Ali, has declared that miniskirts are pornographic and should be banned under tough new anti-porn laws.

    Ali1

Appointed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono earlier this month to run the new task force into pornography, Ali told reporters in Jakarta yesterday that a set of universal criteria must be decided. He added that, “one criteria will be when anyone is wearing a skirt above the knee.”

One might have hoped that when he was jailed for graft…

    https://jakartaglobe.id/multimedia/suryadharma-alis-prison-term-increased-10-years/

…we’d hear no more such tripe, but…

    ###########

NB – although the sticky-beak moaners have amassed over 100,000 signatures for their anti-beauty moan, the pro-beauty petition has also been gathering more support, I’m told not far off 80,000 names.

    whatever__i_love_indonesia_by_NOF_artherapy

So there’s still hope for Indonesia’s future.

So embarrassing for our KPI state censor to go back to the crazy thinking of Suryadharma Ali, who also was such a big embarrassment to Indonesia.

Now same like you say, we have Killjoy Desolation.

BlackPink OK – Thigh Panic Hits Indonesia!

‘The clothes do not even cover the thighs!’

My apologies for not noticing the latest example of uptight indignation here in Indonesia, as my attention has (as might be expected) been focused on The Old Country’s beleaguered bid for independence.

But I HAD noticed the cause of the new ‘petition war’ in this hot and mostly very agreeable archipelago where I’ve dwelt for almost exactly 20 years…

    =

…as I was travelling from the Ground Floor to the Top Floor in a lift (aka elevator) in a Jakarta office building, with one of those built-in screens on which ads appear, appealing to their captive audiences to buy products or use services of various kinds.

The ad that caught (and kept!) my attention was one for an ‘e-commerce’ business called ‘Shopee.’

    =

    Image result for shopee blackpink

    =

…which featured absolutely delightful young ladies dressed immaculately in bright attractive clothes – clothes perfectly suitable for lovely lasses like those who comprise BlackPink!

That’s the gals, above, and you can see for yourselves that the Korean girl-band are respectably clad, cute dresses which reveal nothing shocking, no bare bums, not a nipple in sight.

    BUT…

‘The clothes do not even cover the thighs!’

    For pity’s sakes!

What is it about thighs, any thighs, not just the charming thighs visible in the ad, but any thighs (okay, I admit, my thighs are not inspirational) that gets uptights in a tizzy…such a terrible tizzy that there’s been a priggish petition launched, to get the Government of Indonesia to BAN the ad that features the Korean beauties?

     http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2018/12/10/of-legs-and-pancasila-two-petitions-battle-it-out-over-blackpink-ad

Thighs are not always nice to look at – I’ll not inflict a pic of mine – but many are, not least the thighs of BlackPink!

However, we can quickly suss out the true character of the objectionable petitioners by reading another part of the uptight outburst, viz.

“A group of women wearing skimpy outfits. What kind of subconscious values do we want to instill in our children with this vulgar ad that flaunts aurat…”‘

    Aaah, the dreaded AURAT!

The Jakarta Post helpfully translates the word as ‘intimate parts’ but of course thighs are not intimate parts, not to most of us.

What the uptights mean by ‘intimate parts’ can best be illustrated by that wonderful kill-joy poster I often use…

…with its poor little ‘Michelin Man’ lookalike girl, it’s pictorial message made repulsively clear with the sexist wording above and below it –

‘Fathers and Husbands..Their aurat are your responsibility!’

No nonsense there about women getting to wear what they like, just a mediaeval mind-set on display.

To be fair, there are similar cranky kill-joys in the Western world –Appeasing Uptights – Merkel’s Himmler Wants Ban On Sexy Ads! – and there are people here in Indonesia much more uptight than the anti-thigh brigade. Aceh’s Mad Mullah – ‘Dancing is EVIL – It Involves Body Movements!’

However, happily, there’s a counter-petition on the go, urging the state censor NOT to ban the ad. The sensible petitioner’s initiator provides a refreshing response.

“Open your mind. Be smart, people!”

That petition had 27,000 fans when the JP report was published but today is up to 35,000, and rising. Yet the uptights have nearly 90,000 on theirs.

I hope all my Indonesian readers take a stand against such backward forces.

    Open your mind

    Be smart people

      Hi Ross.
I signed the petition and hope that censor shows sense. I made sure to pass it around the office but I think they knew already because most of them watch for Indonesia stories on your blog.
      More please!

      The girls are dressing nicely.
They are not naked and it is stupid to say they are indecent.
So today I agree with you but not many other days.

Good evening, Ross, from not far across the sea.
So you are still there in Jakarta, talking sense at least on this topic to a population which seems to have at least 35000 of its number prepared to resist arabization. Good luck. You need it.
That other lot of petitioners, probably 100,000 by now, don’t like sense.
Maybe they will one day reach a more grown up outlook but not in your lifetime, I’m afraid to say.
