Bogor’s Mayor Cowers From Bigotry – West Java Shamed AGAIN!
Disgusting tale of bigotry, from Bogor, West Java, today, no surprise, alas, because that city’s Mayor Bima Arya has a miserable record of cowering from fanatics, despite his pre-election reputation as a ‘pluralist’ and ‘moderate.’
Now he’s banned the Shiite minority from holding their annual Ashura event today.
===========
——————-
Why?
Because a bunch of Islamist fanatics want it banned, and Hizonna lacks the guts to order his plentiful civic militia to safeguard freedom of religion!
Again, no surprise, because the militia, known here as the SatPol PP, have a shameful record in that respect, better known for enforcing Bogor’s illegal prevention of Christians from worshipping in their own church!
Mayor Bima’s the bright boy who summed up that issue by telling the GKI Yasmin congregation that they don’t exist, so why should he act justly towards them!

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’
No matter both the Supreme Court and the National Ombudsman both found in favour of the ‘non-existent’ Christians!.
This latest grovelling by authorities comes after shocking scenes in Bandung, also West Java, where would-be celebrants were forced by hard-liners to cut short a similar event.
An odd phrase, ‘hardliners.’
–
–
A more accurate term might be sectarian savages, unhindered by the police.
A mere 120 people claiming to be “defending” the dominant Sunni interpretation of the faith interrupted an Ashura celebration at the Sidolig sports stadium, forcing an early end to the event attended by thousands of people.
This victory for jihadist louts occurred despite the presence of a thousand cops, all armed and trained but evidently over-awed by the evil intolerants, because although they prevented the hard-liners from entering, still the law-abiding Shia had to be escorted out of the stadium.
The Jakarta Globe journo must have a sense of humour, because he writes that it was not immediately clear why the massive police force didn’t prevent the activists from disturbing the event.
- The report adds a pathetic confession of police indifference from Bandung’s top cop, a person clearly given to mealy-mouthed piffle – the important thing was that everybody was safe.
No, not so – the important thing is that religious liberty was crushed once more, because nobody gave the order to the police on duty to draw their guns and subdue the scum.
“Our duty was to ensure security,” he said. “We had prepared a thousand officers.”
But the worshippers were denied the security they had a right to expect, because the 1000 officers didn’t maintain security- they let the jihadist jerks attain their obnoxious objective!
I see President Jokowi is currently out of town, visiting Obama.
Well, he won’t benefit much from that rat, a cultural marxist who gives not a fig for freedom of religion.
But a lot of Indonesians do care about their country’s reputation. And they are wondering when Jokowi will live up to his pluralist promises made during his election campaign.
Noody wants action replays of his predecessor’s supine record. SBY to ask the world to ban blasphemy | The Jakarta Post SBY’s pandering to Islamist extremists was an embarrassment, not least when he urged the world to adopt an international ‘blasphemy law,’ replicating the draconian statute here under which an innocent Shia cleric was sentenced to prison for preaching his own faith.

If only Jokowi would order his National Police to enforce that Supreme Court ruling in Bogor, and to confront the foes of freedom who pollute his beautiful archipelago.

One Hundred Sundays of Oppression – Worship in Jakarta!
Today – after a decent Sunday brunch, bacon, eggs etc. – a Western treat in contrast to my usual warteg dining – I thought it might be a fine idea to go into town to show solidarity yet again with that persecuted Christian congregation.
Kenapa, Pak Presiden? GKI Yasmin Masih Disegel!
They gather every other Sunday, hot sun or drenching rain notwithstanding, opposite President Jokowi’s splendid palace, in protest at the unlawful closure of their house of worship.
======================
‘Open our sealed church!’
- ====================
- I was moved to do so by the news of the death last week, after a long and productive life, of Adnan Buyung, a lawyer famous not only for defending the GKI Yasmin Protestants’ rights but also ‘as a role model for young lawyers.’ http://www.antaranews.com/berita/519760/adnan-buyung-panutan-advokat-muda
One hopes his lessons sank in, because the current state of religious liberty in Indonesia is parlous.
Apart from the sealed churches, the outrageous Tri-Ministerial Decree has not been repealed, leaving peaceful minorities subject to utterly irrational discrimination.
Jakarta This Week – Blameless Minority Creed Hounded Again!
I won’t go through all the details again – you can find plenty using our little search engine over to the right – but it is good to know that decent Indonesians, of all creeds, are still raising their voices against evil.
And I was glad I joined the ranks of the oppressed today, for it turned out this was their hundredth Sunday service on the street, years of persecution, and they marked it well, hymns ringing out, sweet solo singers, and, most tellingly, an empty seat reserved for President Jokowi.
But he didn’t come along. He is, after all, a ‘moderate.’
Much as the new Mayor of Bogor is a ‘moderate.’ That’s Bima, the bright boy who summed up the issue by telling the Yasmin congregation that they don’t exist, so why should he act justly towards them.

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’
One assumes the Supreme Court and the National Ombudsman disagree with Mayor Bima on the matter of those innocent victims’ existence, for they both found in favour of the ‘non-existent’ Christians, after all.
Right, that’s it for today, another Sunday over, started with a brilliant brunch, ended with a brief reflection, knowing I am going off on my travels, wondering too which way Indonesia is going.

West Java – Religious Freedom Still Stomped by Sectarian Bigots
I was thinking about going into the city centre today, but will postpone that plan till next week, because, according to my calculations, the fortnightly open-air service beside Monas Park should next take place next Sunday.
========
——————-
I refer to the persecuted Christians of Bogor, West Java, who worship there, still persecuted, their church still sealed. So much for all that hogwash ‘hope’ heard, about the bright young ‘moderate’ Mayor Bima elected last year.

His disdain, or worse, for the legal rights of these unlawfully downtrodden people – the Supreme Court ruled in favour of GKI Yasmin Church’s congregation to worship in their own building – has taught many Indonesians, and observers overseas, never to take these so-called ‘moderates’ at face value.

Bima is no better than his predecessor, the fanatical Islamist Mayor Diani.
Metrotvnews.com reported last month on the oppressed Protestants’ plight, and thanks to Metro for doing so. Many other local media have been increasingly forgetful of this blight on Indonesia’s reputation.
The report quotes Yasmin’s spokesman, Bona Sigalingging, reminding us that not only the high court but also the Government Ombudsman long since ruled in favour of the victims of Bogor’s vindictive sectarianism.
—————–
- “The City Government of Bogor, Mayor Bima Arya, should be able to resolve this issue, after four years. We built the church according to the rules. Why are we still forbidden to worship there? ”
Bona was speaking a few Sundays ago, in downtown Jakarta.
He and other oppressed minority creed members have been holding their services on alternate Sundays on the streets of Jakarta, usually opposite the President’s Palace, because President Jokowi like his predeccessor, SBY, has so far not seen fit to order enforcement of the high court ruling.
———–
- The last time I went down there to join them, they even had a couple of Shia girls (one of them very pretty) also victims of Sunni Islamist intolerance. Muslim dissenters, members of the Ahmadiyah community, subjected to the infamously discriminatory Tri-Ministerial Decree, have similarly attended these open-air gatherings.
Many of us hoped that Jokowi’s inauguration would herald a restoration of religious liberty, in particular for Yasmin, and for that HKBP Filadelfia church in Bekasi, where fanatic scum pelted the Christians with dung and urine for the crime of trying to worship God on their own premises.
Jakarta’s Oppressed – Ascension Brass Band Worship! No Sewage, Urine This Year!
So far, Jokowi has not fulfilled our hopes.
Does anyone still think he will?

Berani Ke Bogor? Foto2 Expo – till 30th July.
Feeling frustrated in Jakarta, with the absence of fun activities, the restrictions on bars, etc.?
–
–
Relax – it can only get worse once the fanatics’ prohibition law is passed by Parliament. http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2015/07/03/alcohol-prohibition-bill-could-soon-become-law-house.html
However, there’s always fresh air and flowers – even the authorities in Bogor can’t stomp those, not as effectively as they stomp religious liberty. X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’
Here’s an idea, if you don’t mind a trip out of town.
And the traffic jams do seem finally to be diminishing.
Still life floral photos, by a famous Dutch photographer, Margriet Smulders.
Organised by Erasmus Huis but the venue is the Kebon Raya, in Bogor
FREE ADMISSION! Runs till 30th July.

Jokowi Urges Cops To Protect Minorities – in Depok?
Just watched the local news, and there was President Jokowi, addressing the massed ranks of Indonesia’s Finest, urging police to do more to protect minorities.
———-
- Nice sentiment, but to hear him say such a thing from a podium in West Java made me wonder if Jokowi was joking.
He hasn’t ordered the cops to enforce the Supreme Court order and unseal GKI Yasmin Church in nearby Bogor, where the congregation has been persecuted by evil Islamist fanatics for years, in defiance of the law.
—
—
Every second Sunday, if Jokowi looks out his Presidential Palace window downtown, he can see them worship on the street in protest againt this lawless oppression.
And he was actually speaking in DEPOK, the city where the completely innocent Ahmadi religious minority had its mosque seized by the City Government. https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2011/05/25/depok-jadi-kota-pki-islamist-council-grabs-private-property-communist-style/ That authoritarian, sectarian move underlined clearly the way jihadists are a mirror image of the PKI, the banned Indonesian Communist Party.
The Communists are, thanks be, no longer a threat here, but their tradition of hostility to religious freedom lives on in the thinking and actions of those who rule Depok.
It’s a great pity Jokowi evidently feels powerless to over-rule their bigotry!
