Legacy – Good, Legion – Not So! A New TV Season!

New TV season, Monday night, 13th February, and I’m glad of it.

Re-runs are handy if you tend to be out a lot of evenings, as I am!

    0000000000000000

But there’s been altogether  too many, and worse, too much of that imbecilic cartoon garbage, ‘American Dad.’

    • Do adults really watch cartoons, unless they’re drunk, or else in the company of their children?
    • Sad people!
    • ————
    • But of course tomorrow we have The Walking Dead back again, the awful zombies, which I shall be sure to get home in good time to enjoy.

Hurry up, it starts in ten minutes!

But I have just watched Legacy, which I’d never seen before…

…and it was excellent, real ripping yarn stuff. Counter-Intel fighting terrorists, with plenty of twists and turns, action all the time.

And two episodes together, on a Sunday, when I am almost always home, resting up and chilling out.

Not so gripping was Legion, on a few days back…

…which makes little sense and the characters in which are downright peculiar.

Try it if you are patient!

Jakarta Cable TV – Who’s Censoring ‘Threat Matrix?’

Partying Thursday night, partying tonight, so last night  it made sense to stay home and watch tv.

One of the many enjoyable action series available on my cable system is ‘Threat Matrix,’ basically Homeland Security versus terrorist scumbags, which generally has a satisfactory ending with said scumbags as dead as door-nails.

All-American, of course – it would be nice to have similarly righteous entertainment based on Brit, Oz or even French anti-terr operations.

    =================================

    • ———————————————————————-
    • Anyway, as I sprawled in my chair with thirst-quencher, pack of Bohem cigs and ashtray all within handy range, I noticed occasional audio-lapses.

Following the dialogues on the Indonesian text, I realised that somebody was engaged in deliberate censorship.

The two words repeatedly cut were none other than Jemaah Islamiyah and although I was  aware that they are an organisation dedicated to war on Western civilisation, I refreshed my memory by using wikipedia, viz. Jemaah Islamiah (Arabic: الجماعة الإسلامية , al-Jamāʿat ul-Islāmíyatu, meaning “Islamic Congregation”, frequently abbreviated JI)

Whilst doing so, in the knowledge that wikipedia on its own might not always be adequate in its background checks, I found this nice illustration…

A wanted poster released jointly by the Philippine military and the US embassy in Manila shows terrorist leaders wanted by authorities for murders. Photo: AP

……………and the link to a story about demonic characters involved with JI.  http://www.scmp.com/news/asia/article/1106228/philippine-police-shoot-malaysian-terror-suspect

    So there we are.

However, I remain baffled by the censorship.

Indonesian authorities, President Jokowi, Police and parliamentarians, have all declared themselves absolutely opposed to terrorism, this country having suffered various outrages over the years, committed by evil people like the Bali Bomb Pigs.

Indonesia’s Densus 88, the special anti-terror unit, is doing a rather good job of taking out terrorists, much to the dismay of the unpleasant Islamist elements here.

    • So why would the state censors deliberately blot out the name of one of the most swinish murder gangs? It makes no sense – even less since the Indonesian text gives the name clearly for all viewers to see for themselves!

    —————————————-

    • censorship
    • ——————————-
    • If it’s not the state body that’s guilty of this censorship, is it the cable company? Do all the cable companies here collaborate in this – rather incompetent – censorship?

    All very curious.

If anyone has answers, please advise.

The Dead Will Walk Again – Within Two Weeks!

Monday nights have been lack-lustre since before the Festive Season, though the hours of daylight as likely as any other day to produce some visitor to brighten things up.

But nocturnal delight is due to resume in just under two weeks time, with a new season of The Walking Dead!

Until I took the plunge and got cable tv I had never heard of this horror serial drama. But now I can’t wait.

Anyone who enjoys a gripping tale of eerie activity should tune in. It appears to be immensely popular, with rather comical mass zombie eruptions in Singapore (or was it Hong Kong?) getting hearty applause from spectators! So if a mix of horror and humour is well received…

Poor girl met two English teachers in D’s Place last night – now she’s stuck with them!

But catering to impatient zombie-addicts who need an eldritch fix to keep them going, trailer clips are available on a media currently abuzz with speculation on what’s going to happen in the new TWD season. And now the re-runs have begun, giving me a chance to see early episodes I missed out on.

Rick’s group will still head towards D.C. to see what has become of the nation’s capital.http://www.vcpost.com/articles/37907/20150120/the-walking-dead-season-5-new-goal-official-teaser-reveals-some-casts-exit.htm

    Much excitement ahead, then!

And in view of the real world news, these ‘walkers,’ and the even more frightful ‘rotters’ (the zoms so far gone they get stuck to tarmac and can’t get up to chase you!) often provide light relief.
