He’s a grand guy, but nagging doubts beset me when I read his prediction that ‘European leaders will be forced to bow to public opposition to migration..

It would be great if they did, and of course they should, but Mr. Orban seems to me to be crediting those leaders, Merkel, Macron and that fool in Holland with something like genuine good faith, and some kind of residual loyalty to their own countries,

That’s not so. Their loyalty is to Brussels, and their protestations of democratic integrity are base lies. If ’twere not so, they’d heed to people’s wishes, or at least give the people a vote on the migrant menace.

That’s from an article in EUObs this week, by a man named Gareth Harding, who is Managing Director of Clear Europe, a communications company and runs the Missouri School of Journalism’s Brussels Programme.

He may be a smart fellow, but the Czechs are smarter, for sure.

The present tensions between the two are no more a conflict between good and evil than was that between Hitler and Stalin.
