Have any of you ever been candidates in any kind of election?

I certainly have, from my first contest ( class rep to my high school’s debating society committee! ) then through university…

…where we fought the reds, and often won, for all the happy years I spent at my alma mater…

….and on into local government.

Some I won, some I lost.

Losing an election is never any fun, but you lick your wounds and get on with life

I get tons of emails from all kinds of  individuals and organisations, tons more recently seeking donations for candidates in the USA, which I cannot make, A because I’m not American and B because I have no money!

Sometimes, though, they are a source of good comment and info, such as this past weekend, when I received a spot-on appraisal of “the millennial generation.”

Earlier I condemned an Ethiopian who got turned loose despite being convicted for a sex crime against an Aussie lass.

Now we have this thing, a ‘man’ who kept his daughter as a sex slave for more than 20 years.

He only got 15 years for this vile offence (offences, surely, a series of atrocities on a helpless girl) when death by any method would have been fairer. But New Zealand has yet to grasp the need for the restoration of capital punishment.

So life, real life, surely? No, a mere 15 years. Less than the slavery lasted for his daughter. Sick mockery of justice.

And NOW?

The slimy fiend is set to leave prison despite fears he may reoffend.

Van Der Plaat earlier was released in 2010, but sent back to jail after being seen holding hands with a girl of about five years old in Auckland.

It had never occurred to me that such things existed, much less that manufacturers of such obscenities could be making money on them by international trade.

But the world is clearly getting ever sicker.

Mellissa Evans’ petition on change.org. demands Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk ban the importation of the dolls, which are currently available for Australian delivery from several websites….They are shipped in clothing, lingerie or naked and have a variety of facial expressions, from smiling to crying or looking like they are in pain.

There are images online, but no way am I letting them on my blog!

Astonishingly, the swine behind the ‘industry’ is known, and named, and is apparently not behind bars.
