Indonesia’s New Moral Movement? Who Yelled ‘Kill, Kill, Kill?’

As a moral movement, everything we do is based on moral values and justice… to uphold honesty and public welfare,” Din said during the announcement of KAMI’s formation on Tuesday as quoted by kompas.com.

A total of 150 national figures are part of the coalition so far…

So since I care very much about the country I have lived in for more than two decades…

…I took a look at who’s involved in KAMI – Koalisi Aksi Menyelamatkan Indonesia (KAMI) (Coalition for Action to Save Indonesia)

    • and you can too, using the JP link..

….but one name leapt out from the page.

…including Islam Defenders Front (FPI) chairman Sobri Lubis…

    Remember him?

…or more precisely, his infamous rant?

     Just watch the video-

    – which shows him issuing his monstrous call for his devout audience to ‘Bunuh, Bunuh, Bunuh (KILL KILL KILL!) Ahmadis, a peaceful, utterly inoffensive religious minority, whom our UK readers may have noticed..

….incitement for which Sobri Lubis was never prosecuted, BTW! Nor, as far as I know, has he even apologised!

As for his ‘Islam Defenders Front,’ the FPI…just look!

Note – this picture on the left was taken long before masks were decreed as a virus precaution!

Din Syamsuddin, quoted at the top of the page, is the former head of Muhammadiyah, a ‘moderate’ Islamic mass movement here.

    Din, of Muhammadiyah

He is well-informed, and certainly knows all about the FPI, whose Sobri Lubis he appears happy to welcome as a supporter of his moral movement…based on moral values and justice…

Why, you may ask, are such things happening, and part of the answer must lie in the eighth ‘demand’ which the Jakarta Post helpfully lists.

…The coalition also conveyed eight of its demands to the government:

    1. State administrators must enforce the state administration and management to be in accordance with the spirit and values of the 1945 Constitution and state ideology Pancasila.

    2. The government must seriously tackle the COVID-19 pandemic by allocating adequate budgets and directly help the poor who are economically affected.

    3. The government must overcome the economic recession for the interest of small businesses and domestic and informal workers, rather than large and foreign entrepreneurs.

    4. The government must stop chaotic and discriminatory law enforcement, eradicate “law mafias”, stop the criminalization of political opponents, arrest and severely punish looters of state assets.

    5. State administrators must stop practices of corruption, collusion and nepotism (KKN) as well as the system and practices of oligarchy, kleptocracy, political dynasty and power abuse.

    So far so good!?

Many Indonesians probably agree with much of the above, but…

…a moral movement, everything we do is based on moral values and justice…

    Here’s Number Six!

    6. State administrators must not give opportunities for the rise of communism and other anti-Pancasila ideologies, including separatism; must stop the stigmatization of religious groups with issues of intolerance, radicalism and extremism that divide the society.

The government should not bow to certain countries to enforce economic and foreign policies

…stigmatization of religious groups with issues of intolerance, radicalism and extremism…

Well, God forbid anyone would ‘stigmatize’ Sobri Lubis or his “Islam Defenders Front” with issues of extremism!

Good questions come from this but I do not hope for good answers from KAMI

My friend just sent me your blog today.
We in Indonesia all know all about this but I am happy that you will get more people in other countries to understand about this man and this movement.
You once wrote very many very good reports about FPI so please start to do that again.

Muhammadiyah Doesn’t Like Extremism? Avoid Mirrors, Pak!

Indonesia’s second-largest Islamic organization, Muhammadiyah, has said extremism is becoming more common around the world.

Well, yes, the Green Party-– Daniel Cohn-Bendit and the German Greens’ pedophile problem ..is a growing menace in Germany…

    green party red[

…along with the Left Party, heirs to the Communist quisling regime.  A large percentage of the party’s politicians are known or suspected agents of the former East German secret police…One of Ulbricht’s Heirs, Complicit in Crimmigration!

    • And extremism is not just a danger to Germany. Racist gangs like BLM in America are a serious concern.

Booed By Racist Mob For Saying “White Lives Matter,” Democrat U-Turns ASAP

But Muhammadiyah is an Indonesian Muslim outfit, so right here should be their focus, if they want to help.

And Pak Haedar told the Jakarta Post that he does...

He further said Muhammadiyah was ready to cooperate with other societal elements to eliminate all forms of extremism in Indonesia.

They could make a retrospective start by condemning Nazi-style book-burning, like that carried out by Gramedia, which owns the Jakarta Post.

Grovelling Gramedia’s BookBurning Bonanza – Appeasing Fanatics

    • burning booksGramedia’s Hitlerite book-burning

    • …………………..

More recently, who was it joined in the fanatic chorus demanding that our good Jakarta Governor, Ahok, be prosecuted for the ludicrous offence of ‘blasphemy?’

     The Muhammadiyah Youth Wing!

“I have come here to be questioned as a filer of the report,” the youth wing organization chairman Khairul Sakti Lubis said….

Hasil gambar untuk khairul sakti lubis

The organization is one of several groups that reported Ahok for alleged blasphemy after he mentioned Al Maidah 51, a verse in the Quran, at an event in Thousand Islands regency.

Khairul said Ahok, a Christian, could not interpret verses in the Quran, because Islam was not his religion….

Police summon Muhammadiyah youth leaders in Ahok case

Perhaps Bapak Haedar could have a quiet word with young Khairul, reminding him that stomping free speech, on matters of religion as anything else, is clearly a manifestation of extremism.

As to the absurd arrogance of claiming that only followers of any particular creed are capable of interpreting that creed’s dogmas – go figure!

However, maybe the Boy Wonder’s extremism can be better understood when we remind ourselves of the MUI’s fanatical extremism.

The Indonesian Council of (self-styled) Scholars has long been the source of incredibly outlandish extremist outbursts, which we have featured here before and now do so again.

    • ma'arruf amin

    • Ma’aruf Amin

    • ———-

It was MUI’s Deputy Chair, Ma’aruf, who kindly advised everyone that FGM is a ‘human right!’

And here’s another of their ‘scholars’ talking.

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

“If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

And who is currently the leading light of the MUI?

None other than Din Syamsuddin, who also just happens to be top man in Muhammadiyah!

Is he ever going to take steps to root out the extremists from their positions of power and influence in MUI?

Until he does, ponder that old English adage…

A phrase one can say meaning people should not criticize others for faults that they have themselves.

Jogja Congress Muslims Spurn Sex Apartheid – But NOT Hoodlum Gangsters!

A great pity that the grand gathering of Muslims in Jogja, just winding up, encompassed all many ‘great and good’ Islamic organisations here, but snubbed the Ahmadis.  http://www.tempo.co/read/news/2015/02/09/173641139/Kongres-Umat-Islam-Undang-Syiah-Tolak-Ahmadiyah

Of course it’s up to them whom they invite to their Indonesian Muslims Congress. The report suggests the ban on dissenters is due to the intolerant self-styled ‘scholars’ of the state-sponsored MUI.

President Jokowi could save a small fortune for tax-payers by cutting off state-funding to that lot.

One would have hoped that bigot gangster groups like the self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam Front.’ aka the IslamoNazi FPI, would also have been excluded, for bringing the creed into disrepute by their lawless thuggery and vandalism.

    But far from it!

“MUI ingin menjadi tenda besar (bagi seluruh umat Islam). FPI, LDII, MMI (Majelis Mujahidin Indonesia), Hizbut Tahrir dan ormas lain dilibatkan,” said Din Syamssuddin.   http://jogja.tribunnews.com/2015/01/23/yogya-tuan-rumah-kongres-umat-islam-indonesia/

    • din-syamsuddin-_120703152435-684 Din

But on the plus side, it’s pleasing to see they have spurned the ignorant and primitive sex apartheid that disfigures some Islamist outfits. We even saw such mediaeval nonsense sprout in the UK a year or two ago.

Britannia Dolorosa – Sectarian Sex Segregation in Britain’s Class-Rooms!

I quote one Muslim who actually IS a scholar, the academic Azyumardi Azra, who says that participants in this congress are dominated by mainstream Islamic groups in Indonesia. For example, the Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama…

    • azra Azra
    • …Moderate Islam is also friendly to the local culture. “As in this forum, men and women are not segregated,” he said.

GOOD TO HEAR. Indonesian culture has traditionally been very civilised. Women in Java, for example, wear lovely kebayas, baring their smooth brown shoulders for all to admire.

uut_permatasari cantik in kebaya modern Dangdut chanteuse Uut Permatasari in kebaya

And despite fanatic howling, most Muslim women eschew the scarf of subjugation.

But even the smart Azra seems to have overlooked a few facts when he says that ‘this Islam is an Islam that rejects violence.’ I guess he missed the inclusion of notorious vigilante mobsters noted above.

    FPI_13 FPI hoodlums run amok

    And moreover…

The NU and Muhammadiyah have, in the past, a fairly good record in opposition to violence, true, but the MUI has neither disowned nor disciplined their notorious Muhammad Al Kaththath, who called for the death of an innocent atheist simply for posting opinions on Facebook. Who Was Our Third Voter? Al K’s Fanatic Party Goes Nowhere, Fast!

    Amidhan-MUI-2011 Amidhan

And while MUI may claim that Al K’s a minor figure, who’s forgotten their utterly irresponsible former Chairman Amidhan’s outburst, a few Ramadhans back.

    • Fuhrerin Merkel Sticks Nose into France, Jackboot into Greece     –Speaking of IslamoNazi hoodlums who launch violent on mini-markets which don’t kow-tow to seasonal intolerance, our non-violent Amidhan told any store manager indifferent to MUI’s sectarian policies –

    DON’T COMPLAIN IF YOU’RE ATTACKED!-Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!” .

I hope ‘moderate’ Din enjoyed hob-nobbing with the white-shirt sectarian bullies during the congress. And I hope neither he nor the MUI is any longer described in ill-informed media as a ‘moderate.’

    Islamist ‘Scholars’ Show Rare Wisdom!

    din-syamsuddin-_120703152435-684 Din

After my frequent criticism of the self-styled ‘scholars’  of the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council ) I find it necessary to applaud their chairman, Din Syamsuddin, who  has said that Muslims are allowed to greet their fellow Christians with a “Merry Christmas.” .http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/12/24/mui-allows-merry-christmas.html

    fatwa mui sholeh

In my experence, most sane Muslims do so already! The dafter MUI fatwas are routinely ignored by rational people  –

Don’t Chuckle, Be Holy! ‘Excessive Humour’ Irks Jakarta ‘Scholars!’

    – and carry no legal force here in Jakarta or nationwide

My attention had been diverted by my Bali break so I missed the pre-Christmas announcement.

    Nevertheless, it’s very positive !

    So good for Din!

Now maybe the MUI can start prohibiting followers from engaging in barbaric practices such as female circumcision.

Circumcision hopefully will make her less amorous…” Islamist Ignorance Targets Tots

     – and even exhorting co-religionists not to attack apostates!
