Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg has come in for sharp criticism after being quoted as saying the Nazis and the extreme left had “much in common…”

The comments have been strongly criticised by some of Norway’s left-wing politicians.

Snorre Valen of the Socialist Left Party (Sosialistisk Venstreparti) called Solberg’s comments “completely irresponsible and amateur…” 

The PM should condemn Nazism clearly, Valen wrote.

But obviously not the much more blood-stained Communism?

Absolutely not!

“We need you to say ‘we’ve fought Nazism before and we’ll fight it again’, not weak distractions like ‘the others are also bad’,” he wrote.

As we know, those of us who have read any modern history beyond the first page or two of junior high school textbooks…

So how come these Norse politicians, from whom one should expect solidarity with patriotic governments in other countries, are resisting efforts by two patriot governments to thwart leftist so-called ‘NGOs’ to interfere in their internal politics.

Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, in exchange for their access to the EU single market, fund initiatives aimed at reducing social and economic disparities in 15 poorer EU member states, through the so-called EEA funds.

In fact, of course, many of the ‘NGOs’ – which are self-evidently NOT ‘non-governmental,’ leeching off government funds – are NOT ‘independent’ – they are much more into partisan politics, waging ideological war on the elected leaders of both Poland and Hungary.
