An Appeal From Canada – Defend Free Speech!

Rebel News is one of the few Canadian media outlets that tell truths the Turdostan in-crowd would prefer you never hear.

    =

    =

Now they are under attack, so I hope you will read Ezra Levant’s appeal and help if you can..

A terrible thing just happened. I’m sorry to bother you about it, but I really need your help.

Rebel News (and me personally) have just been served with a legal notice of intention to bring a lawsuit, sent by Trudeau’s “disinformation” czar, Jean-Christophe Boucher.

You can read his threat letter in full, by clicking here.

He’s coming to censor us, to shut us down, just like he publicly warned us would happen.

    I need your help, please.

Boucher has unlimited resources. He has received massive grants from the Trudeau government that he’s used to fund his work to smear Rebel News and other Trudeau critics. He’s also a professor at the University of Calgary (my old university), which also has unlimited resources, too.

In fact, his legal threat was signed by the University of Calgary’s lawyer. It wouldn’t surprise me if the U of C is paying for this attack on us to ensure they keep getting more Trudeau grants.

But the main thing to know about this Boucher character is that he’s Trudeau’s censorship point man. He’s the activist paid to lead Trudeau’s campaign against “disinformation”. Which is Trudeau’s new way of silencing his critics.

Here, watch this quick video — I’ll prove it to you:

HELP! Trudeau’s ‘disinformation’ czar is trying to shut us down

Boucher has hated Rebel News for a very long time. He smears us online, comparing us to poison and asking, “when will we shut down the Rebel for spreading false information? This should be a lawsuit for undermining public safety.”

This is a personal vendetta to him.

If you criticize Trudeau, you’re on Boucher’s hit list. Here’s what he said about the trucker convoy: “Just cut their trucks in little pieces. Dump it on their driveway.” Not surprisingly, he calls supporters of Pierre Poilievre “insane” and “toxic”.

You can see why Trudeau loves him.

I first heard of Boucher a few months ago, when he published a bizarre report, subject to no academic peer review, called “Disinformation and Russia-Ukrainian War on Canadian Social Media”.

But the report itself was disinformation. Because it wasn’t a neutral or scholarly study. It was funded by Trudeau’s department of national defence.

Boucher’s report said that anyone who vocally opposed Justin Trudeau could be flagged as a Russian agent. I’m serious; let me quote directly from page 3 of his study. One of the criteria for Boucher to flag you as a Putin agent was “promoting a specific mistrust of Canada’s Liberal government, and especially of Prime Minister Trudeau”.

And based on that, they made a hate list of the people they accuse of being Russian agents. Maxime Bernier is on there too; I’m on there; some other pundits in Canada and the U.S. are, too. But it’s not a list of Russians. It’s just a list of people who criticize Trudeau.

I’m not a Putin agent. In fact, I wrote a best-selling book called Ethical Oil, about how Canada must produce ethical oil and gas to displace Russian oil and gas. I was so harsh on Putin, it is not safe for me or my family members to travel to Russia.

After Boucher’s report came out, I did a Rebel News broadcast refuting it. And I sent him a private letter demanding that he correct the errors and smears against me.

But instead of correcting his errors, he’s suing me and Rebel News, for daring to challenge him in my broadcast.

    He’s hired a top lawyer.

    He’s got unlimited resources.

And he’s coming to kill us. He’s said as much publicly.

If you want us to live, now is the time to help us, please.

Go to SaveRebelNews.com… Chip in what you can. And while you’re on that page, you can click a button to send an email to the University of Calgary board of governors, telling them it’s outrageous that they would support this bully.

But mainly: I really need your help to cover our legal bills. Boucher and Trudeau hate Rebel News. They think this is the way to kill us. Even before we get to trial, this lawsuit could cost us well over $100,000 in legal fees.

We can’t let that stop us. If you help us cover the cost of our lawyers, I promise we’ll fight like hell against this Trudeau disinformation czar. Not only will we defend ourselves, but we’ll put his own McCarthyite smears on trial, too.

    Yours gratefully,

    Ezra Levant

P.S. Boucher has had a vendetta against us for years. He said we should be sued into silence — and now he’s trying to do that.

P.P.S. Boucher is a bully, but he’s very well-funded. Between Trudeau’s grants and the University of Calgary, he can afford a top lawyer to attack us. I think he wants to waste our time, waste our money and distract us from our work. We can’t let that happen.

P.P.P.S. Rebel News loves to fight for freedom for other people, and we often crowdfund lawyers for others. But this time, we’re fighting for our own survival — we’re the ones who need help. Please chip in to help us cover our legal fees. (Thank you.) Click here, or visit SaveRebelNews.com.

P.P.P.P.S. Please forward this email to a friend to let them know what Trudeau’s censors are up to. Thanks.

    Quebec Klutz-Cops Grab ‘Jew-Media’ Journos!

This was just passed along to me from Rebel Media and tells you all you need to know…

….about press freedom – or lack of it – in today’s Canada.

…50 heavily armed police just raided the hotel where our Rebel News reporters were staying in Montreal.

I told them they couldn’t come in without a search warrant. So instead they manhandled me. They handcuffed Keean Bexte. And They just put David Menzies in the back of a police car.

Police have sealed off the AirBnb we were staying in with police tape — they say it’s a “crime scene”.

    ===

    my inserted illustration

    ====

Of course it’s not. In fact, when we asked them what the “crime” was, all they could come up with was that our staying in the hotel was an illegal “gathering,” contrary to Quebec’s lockdown laws.

That’s obviously not true. It is a registered, legal hotel rental on Airbnb. In fact, we had fewer guests than the facility is built for.

This is the same Montreal police who have harassed and assaulted our reporters for weeks. This is their revenge. Because we report on their misconduct.

I’m very upset by this. And I remember that, several times, Montreal police have pulled our reporters over and called us “Jew Media” or asked if we’re “Jews.”

    ….

    my inserted illustration

    ……

I can’t help but think that’s a bizarre anti-semitic motivation. That sure isn’t professional policing.

David is still in the back of the police car. Our lawyer is on the scene. I’m mad as hell.

I need your help. Please go to http://www.LockdownReports.com and help us. We have to defend David. And we have to sue the police. Enough is enough. I’m sick of them assaulting our people.

Canada was a great place when I was a kid but now in Quebec police attack reporters instead of protecting them and in BC judges punish fathers for trying to protect their daughters.
I feel sorry for kids being born in Canada now.

Do They Know It’s Christmas In Canada?

I’m not for a moment suggesting that ‘lock-down’ injustice is unique to Canada…

    ……

    ….

…but I do want to let readers know about an excellent fight-back fund organised by the excellent Ezra Levant.

    ..

    FIGHT THE FINES!

Ordinary Canadians are being fined extortionate amounts for going outside while the prime minister visits cottage country. Can you help us fight this unreasonable infringement on our civil liberties?

    4518 Donors
    Goal: 500s

We are crowdfunding lawyers for Canadians who want to fight their outrageous tickets.

We’re not going to PAY the fines. We are FIGHTING the fines.

We started this project back in April, we already have over twelve cases but we want to defend every single Canadian who gets a lockdown ticket (or at least the first 1,000).

We even won our first couple of cases already!

We are going to fight for Canadians civil rights. To see all of our coverage, go to FightTheFines.com

If you’ve been fined during the pandemic for no good reason, please click here to contact us in confidence. You may be eligible for free legal defence — where we will help fight your ticket! That means that we’ll hire a lawyer, and we’ll pay all of your fees!

And if you haven’t personally been affected but want to help out, please chip in what you can to help us fight these cases by using the donation form on this page.

This is it. This is the fight back.

If you don’t have a fine yourself but want to help, please click on the donate button on this page. We need to raise $200,000.

We believe that there are some reasonable limits that the public accepts to fight this pandemic. But whether it’s overzealous inspectors, police who just don’t understand the new rules, bureaucrats trying to scare the public, or politicians enjoying their “emergency” powers a little too much, there are so many unreasonable fines out there, someone has to defend our civil liberties.

If you believe someone has to fight back against these cases, then please help us out by making a donation on this page.

Let’s keep Canada free. We don’t need to live under martial law. You don’t quarantine the healthy. You don’t punish people for having Christmas dinner with family. You don’t ruin thousands of small businesses.

Canadians can donate through e-transfer by emailing donations@rebelnews.com.

Quick PayPal donations can be made by clicking here.

And you can donate by cheque by making it out to Rebel News and mailing the cheque to:

Turdo Stomps Press Freedom In Canada! Protest! Petition!

A long time ago, the left cared about civil liberties and freedom of the press. Not any more — at least not when it’s Trudeau doing the censoring. So the job has fallen to us — and our excellent lawyers.

Click here to sign our petition, and chip in on this page to help us fight in court!

Once again, Justin Trudeau has banned our Rebel News reporters from asking him questions. This time he’s banning us from his daily press scrum about the pandemic.

So, once again, we’re taking him to court.

Today, we filed a lawsuit at the Federal Court of Canada. Click here to read our nine-page lawsuit. And click here to see a short video I made, explaining our case:

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time Trudeau has illegally censored our reporters. The last time was during the 2019 federal election when Trudeau banned us from covering the leaders’ debates. We had to race to the Federal Court of Canada to get an emergency injunction to let us in. The judge agreed with us and ordered Trudeau’s bureaucrats to let us in.

    Well, here we go again!

Trudeau spent over $131,000 in tax dollars to fight us in court last time, hiring five lawyers. I don’t know how they managed to bill that much money — maybe they were from SNC Lavalin or Bombardier or something. Our lawyers cost us $18,000, which is a fair amount. Trudeau’s lawyers cost seven times more to run the same half-day trial. And they got thumped.

We’ve got the same legal “dream team” fighting for us again, so I’m hopeful.

Here’s the key point in our lawsuit: Trudeau himself isn’t censoring us. What’s so bad here is that Trudeau has instructed the non-partisan, neutral civil service to censor us. And that’s why we’re suing.

We’re not asking a court to order Trudeau to talk to us. We’re asking the public service, the so-called non-partisan bureaucrats who work for the Government of Canada, to stop blocking us.

They’re the ones who operate the call-in system for the press conference. They’re the ones who are doing the censoring. And that’s how we’re going to win this lawsuit.

It was illegal when the debates commission did it, and it’s illegal again now.

Please click here or go to LetUsReport.com. Read the lawsuit for yourself. Sign our petition. And if you can — please chip in to help us fight against the army of lawyers that Trudeau will throw at this.

We’re suing to get our reporters in.

But we’re really suing for all Canadians — to strengthen freedom of the press for everyone, and to hold Trudeau to account, where the Media Party won’t.

    Yours truly,

    Ezra Levant

Justin Turdo Goes After Free Expression – Solidarity With Ezra Levant!

Ezra Levant is Canada’s foremost freedom fighter.

I simply offer you what he has written and leave it you!

Just before Christmas, Justin Trudeau’s lawyers made a shocking decision — a decision that must have been approved right from the top.

They decided to investigate me and Rebel News for publishing and promoting my book, “The Libranos: What the Media isn’t telling you about Justin Trudeau’s Corruption”.

Seriously. I’m being investigated by the government for criticizing the government.

I received the threat letter just hours ago — sent by registered mail, designed to hit me right between the eyes over the Christmas holidays.

I really can’t believe it. Click here to read Trudeau’s full threat letter for yourself!

The election has been over for more than two months. So why now?

I think Trudeau is still angry that we beat his lawyers in court back in October — you’ll remember, Trudeau’s hand-picked debates commission banned our reporters from covering the debates. But after an emergency hearing, the Federal Court of Canada ordered Trudeau’s commission to let us in.

It was an amazing David versus Goliath victory — our two young lawyers beat five senior government lawyers sent by Trudeau.

This latest threat letter was obviously a kind of revenge — and it was timed to land right now, while Trudeau is on a private jet holiday in Costa Rica, far from any reporters who might ask him about prosecuting authors.

The letter was signed by Mylène Gigou, director of investigations for Elections Canada. Her letter suggests there is a whole team of investigators who have been assigned to my case. She’s threatening me with an investigation, prosecution and huge fines.

Click here, to watch a short video where I try to explain it:

But hang on. I’m not the only Canadian journalist to write a book about Trudeau during the campaign. So did two pro-Trudeau left-wingers — Aaron Wherry of the CBC state broadcaster and John Ivison of Postmedia, the largest recipient of Trudeau’s newspaper bail-out.

Neither of them is being investigated for writing their books. Only me. What could possibly be the explanation, other than political vengeance by Trudeau?

What’s so crazy is that in her letter Gigou admits that it is perfectly legal to publish and promote a book during an election — the Canada Elections Act specifically permits it.

So then why is she prosecuting me?

Read the letter here; she offers me a kind of plea bargain. She says that if I cooperate with her, she’ll go easy on me — the fine will be lower than if I choose to fight for my freedom of speech and freedom of the press.

What do you think I should do?

    *Should I take the deal?

*Should I apologize to Trudeau for writing a book critical of him during an election?

*Should I promise to be more like Aaron Wherry — who actually wrote news reports for the CBC about Trudeau’s fancy socks?

*Should I sign up for the media bail-out like John Ivison?

*Should I just pay the $5,000 and promise not to call Trudeau corrupt anymore?

I’m kidding — you know me better than that. I’ll never bow down to Trudeau, ever.

And you know what? We beat them in court when they tried to ban us from the debates. And we’re going to beat them in court now.

Trudeau obviously needs a reminder that just because 33% of Canadians voted for him — the lowest ever for a majority government in Canada — doesn’t mean he gets to take away our freedom of the press.

In fact, scrutiny of him is more important than ever.

So I’ve spoken to the two lawyers who beat Trudeau last time, and they’ve agreed to help us fight back. Obviously it’s going to cost a lot more than the $5,000 to apologize to Trudeau and settle with the prosecutors. When Alberta’s disgraced elections commissioner went after our reporter Sheila Gunn Reid for the exact same thing — publishing a book criticizing Rachel Notley —  they eventually dropped the charges, but not before it cost us $70,000-plus.

I think that’s what Trudeau is doing — trying to wear us down, both financially and psychologically.

Well, there’s no denying it will cost us money. But, as God is my witness, I swear to you that we will never stop speaking freely, and criticizing Trudeau and any other politicians we like. They will literally have to throw us in jail — and even then, you can better believe we won’t shut up.

    We know how Trudeau thinks.

He believes that if he can shut me up —  and Rebel News, his biggest critic — then he can shut anybody up. He’s already got 99% of the Media Party in the palm of his hand. We’re one of the few hold-outs.

And if he can break us, he thinks he can break anyone.

    Well, we won’t break.

Please click here to help us cover the legal fees. I promise I’ll fight and fight and fight till we win.

    Yours truly,

    Ezra Levant

P.S. Fighting against the government feels like David versus Goliath. And it is. But we won last time — and we’re using the same excellent young lawyers. And Trudeau is clearly breaking the law — I mean, really: censoring a book? I really think we can win. Please click here to help chip in if you can.

P.P.S. If you prefer, please contribute by cheque. Please make it payable to “Rebel News” and mail it to PO Box 61056 Eglinton/Dufferin RO, Toronto, ON M6E 5B2.
