Really, Fadli? Indonesia’s Anti-Terror Unit ‘Islamophobic?’

It’s been a while since we took note of any words of wisdom issuing from Fadli Zon.

And he can usually be counted on to say something remarkable, as when he came out with this shocker!

“I strongly believe that the supporters of Habib Rizieq love peace…

Jakarta Boycott Reality Check? Ask Fadli, Caught Smiling With Trump!

    WHAT?

    .

You may recall that the supporters of Habib Rizieq, the recently banned sectarian vigilante gang that called themselves the ‘Islam Defenders Front,’ were NOT noted for loving peace.

Brutal Paris Beheader A ‘Hero,’ Says Jakarta Fanatic!

    Rizieq’s son-in-law presumably qualifies as a ‘supporter.’

The FPI include many cowards, certainly.…

..but mob-handed, they could be as brave as…

FPI in West Java – ‘Let’s Burn Out the Orphans!’

    ..what, hyenas?

    But back to  Fadli!

    He’s a legislator, a well-known figure in Indonesia’s Gerindra Party, well-travelled…

    .

Hasil gambar untuk fadli zon trump candidate

    .oooooooo

…at ease with the great and good.

But how about his latest outburst?

Fadli Zon said that the Special Detachment or Densus 88 Anti-terror Police should be disbanded.

    Good grief!

    ..

    Densus88 have been doing a splendid job…

Makassar – One Less Foul Fiend In The World?

…for which we have often praised them.

And for which they have in the past caught criticism…

Jakarta Echoes of Gibraltar – How Dare You Kill Terrorists?

…but not from anyone you or I would rate highly.

    But this week..

Fadli Zon commented on the statement by the Director of Anti-terror Detachment 88 of the National Police, Kombes M Rosidi, who said that the Taliban had inspired terrorist groups in Indonesia.

Back-Stab Biden’s disastrous pull-out from Afghanistan, where the Taliban, pig-ignorant sectarian savages, are now eagerly oppressing women ( and men, but the absurd sexist apartheid is somehow especially offensive) has probably inspired jihadist terrorists everywhere.

The sight of those primitive brutes, sporting fire-arms and revolting unkempt beards…

(which are NOT a religious requirement – most Muslim men in Indonesia are unbearded – like Fadli!)

    …swaggering around Kabul?

Certainly the Taliban’s inspiring terrorists, as Pak Rosidi said.

So why is Fadli troubled by that truth?

Well, while he admitted that ‘acts of terrorism must be eradicated….’

    ..Fadli continued –

This kind of narrative will no longer be trusted by the people – it smells Islamophobic….”

    .

    Huh?

    Indonesia is about 90% Muslim!

It’s very probable that Densus is similarly composed.

It’s very probable that Pak Rosidi’s initial ‘M’ indicates his religious affiliation.

In what alternative universe can these realities be construed as ‘Islamophobic?’

    But we’re not done yet!

    Because Fadly thinks that –

..it is better if Detachment 88 is disbanded... ‘

    https://zonapekanbaru.pikiran-rakyat.com/riau/pr-1672757105/minta-densus-88-dibubarkan-fadli-zon-berbau-islamifobia

    Scary, yes?

This man isn’t some obscure nonentity but a big noise in Indonesian politics!

    However…

I doubt if Fadly will get his wish.

The best way to ‘eradicate acts of terrorism’ is surely to get more terrorists eradicated!’

    .

    .

So I hope the heroes if Densus 88 continue doing their righteous work.

But perhaps because of my familiarity with the fight against other evil sectarians..

    .

    .

…it’s hard not to think of the heroism and sacrifice of other brave officers…

    .

    .

…betrayed, their force disbanded to appease the forces of darkness.

FPI Say ‘We Got No Guns!’ But Their ‘Military Training?’

‘Fitna’ means slander, and last night, the local TV channels, were at last catching up on the dramatic news of the shootings on the Jakarta toll road.

Jakarta – Six Sectarians Shot Dead, But TV News?

Rizieq the Fanatic’s close comrade, Munarman, was damn near spitting out the accusatory F-word at a televised press conference.

I do try to be fair, even to people I can’t stand, like Munarman…..

    – yes, he who infamously called for people to “hunt down ‘liberals’ in their neighborhoods, to beat on their doors and expel them.”Jakarta Globe 15/3/12

    • ——
    •
    • …invited onto TVOne to discuss FPI’s hoodlum behaviour, Munarman lost the argument and then totally lost his infantile temper, hurling a glassful of water over the mild-mannered academic who’d bested him.

…..so I can say he gave a very different version of events, of which you can read a summary here…

    https://voi.id/en/aktual/22244/keluarga-larang-polisi-autopsi-tanpa-izin-enam-laskar-pengikut-rizieq-yang-ditembak-mati

use Google Translate if need be

Moreover, he claimed that Rizieq’s violent vigilante gang, the FPI – the self-styled ‘Islam Defenders Front’ – had no access to fire-arms, though the police have displayed hand-guns taken from those they shot.

We also heard that Rizieq was hiding out, and that several FPI ‘laskars’ had been kidnapped!

It’s important to note that ‘laskars’ in that context means ‘fighters.’

    .

    .

So however they ended up, they had chosen to serve as ‘warriors’ in an extremist cause, and wear paramilitary gear.

    .

    .

The FPI record is infamous, and they’re not at all (except at the moment!) shy about advertising their violent inclinations.

    .

    .

Today there’s been lots more coverage, and inevitably Amnesty International, fresh from demanding suppression of dissent in the Western world…

Amnesty? Shamnesty! Making War On Free Speech!

….has leapt in, prattling about fact-finding.

    Amnesty prattles much too often.

Cur Qureshi and Amnesty – Don’t Say We Weren’t Warned!

I expect many Indonesians, like many observant Western people, will treat Amnesty with the indifference it’s earned.

    ….

Another familiar name, which we mentioned only recently, has been heard….

Jakarta Boycott Reality Check? Ask Fadli, Caught Smiling With Trump!

…and he rather subverts his main argument by his laughable initial assertion, viz.

“I strongly believe that the supporters of Habib Rizieq love peace…

    WHAT?

    Like at the Monas Riot?

    But he carries on gamely…

“….and are not equipped with weapons.

It must be thoroughly investigated. If it is excessive, then the police have committed abuse of power. Kapolda must be responsible,” said Fadli Zon

    https://www.suara.com/news/2020/12/07/150714/anggota-fpi-ditembak-fadli-zon-kenapa-sampai-ada-tembak-mati

But we know  – and Fadli knows – that an officer in the Indonesian armed forces got into a lot of trouble for including the gangster group in his military training course, about three years ago.

In fact, Fadli slammed critics who were questioning the program and FPI’s participation in it….   http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/01/09/protests-against-military-training-for-fpi-exaggerated-fadli-zon.html

    ……

The politician from the Gerindra Party also criticized the military’s decision to strip Lebak military commander of his post for recruiting the FPI in Banten to take the training recently, calling the decision “regrettable”.

But perhaps that military training programme merely encompassed push-ups and cross-country runs!?!

I knew you would find something interesting to bring back into this story, from all the coverage you have given to the FPI over the years.
I had completely forgotten about that scandal when they were out training under army supervision.
I hope a lot of people read this!

      Great stuff, Ross.
We need to go back to 2017 and see exactly what kind of military training they were getting.
I’m sure the police remembered and checked out what they might be up against.
If it turns out as I think it turned out, that military training, people need to be reminded of a very relevant fact.
I’m surprised none of the journalists at Munarman’s press conference asked about this.
Maybe there was a dangerous glass of water on the table!

Presumably not many fanatical Islamists go shopping at the Galerie Lafayette (there is a branch here in Jakarta) but then neither do I, though I have wandered in while waiting for friends in town.

    ….

Mr. Fadli Zon is undoubtedly rich – he’s a senior politician, after all! – and could surely ask around his equally rich colleagues if they, or their wives and daughters, will shun French imports.

He’s not a man I have much time for.

We covered Fadli’s declaration of ‘open house’ at the Indonesian Parliament buildings a couple of years ago.

The Deputy Speaker was eager to offer accommodation to Islamist extremists who’d come into Jakarta for the fanatic demo which ended in shocking violence that awful Friday night.

Will Fadli Open ‘The People’s House” To Jakarta’s Homeless?

We asked if he would be equally hospitable to people who genuinely need somewhere to sleep, like Jakarta’s homeless.

I didn’t expect a response, nor did I get one.

But now I am reminded of an even more pressing case that ought to stir Fadli’s charitable instincts, namely, those Ahmadi refugees.

Fadli Zon justified his offer to let intolerant extremists sleep over in the House of Representatives by saying it’s the ‘house of the people.’

The plight of the Ahmadis remains dire.

It is not, perhaps, irrelevant that this disgraceful activity occurred in Banten Province, which is only a few miles outside Jakarta – in fact if you have ever flown into Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, you’ll have landed in Banten yourself.

Banten Province was the scene of the vile Cikeusik Pogrom, five years ago, when a mob of ululating Islamist savages martyred three innocent members of the Ahmadi religious minority.

Today I took the trouble to check on the map and lo, Cikeusik is situated within the very same kebaputen, administrative area, Lebak, where the training reportedly took place.

I wonder if any of the vile beasts involved in the pogrom were among the trainees?

Okay, that training has been stopped, although the Jakarta Post reports that a similar outrage occurred in another province, on the island of Madura.

And Fadli Zon too was unashamed to appear with the FPI fanatics last year, so no surprise that he dismissed the concerns of many honourable Indonesians of all creeds about this shocking news.

I have to wonder what all those Jakarta police officers will think about this, the cops who were injured in the FPI riot last year.

Will they welcome the prospect of such Islamist louts being trained to fight?

In the end, I don’t suppose any amount of training will transform the FPI into worthwhile warriors. They tend to avoid any fighting unless they’re mob-handed.

Victim of Islamist Murder Mob Gets Six Months in the Slammer

Only last month an Ahmadi leader, Mirajuddin Sahid, has reminded us, speaking in Jogjakarta, that “up to the present time the government has not been serious about protecting Ahmadis.”

The Jakarta Post quotes him as saying that the ‘worst’ example of religious persecution was the fate of the 119 Ahmadi families in West Nusa Tenggara who years ago had been evicted from their homes.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/10/31/ahmadiyah-leaders-demand-government-protection.html

These completely inoffensive Ahmadis have been treated abominably.

Unlike many so-called ‘refugees’ in Europe, these people are genuine. And what’s most shocking of all is that they are ‘refugees’ IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY!

Readers who have followed the story will recall they were driven out of their island home after ferocious attacks by Islamist brutes….

Their parents were denied basic rights, even, as in our previous post, above, the right to vote. Have those young folks fared any better since that poignant picture was taken?

What a way to treat people, adults or children, simply because of how they worship God Almighty.

    https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2016/08/09/sectarian-pig-gets-less-than-life-at-least-arrest-its-fans/

The Ahmadi leader, Mirajuddin Sahid, rightly condemns this situation.

“They have been staying there for the last 10 years and the government still does nothing about it!”

Where are the hundred thousand marchers protesting in Jakarta’s streets about this outrageous situation?

Those Islamist fanatics aimed to bend the Indonesian justice system to their will, and today Jakarta’s Christian Governor has been named a suspect for ‘blasphemy’ by the police.

We haven’t forgotten how the ‘blasphemy’ law has been used by Islamist bigots elsewhere in Indonesia to persecute dissenters. Think of Tajul Muluk, the harmless Shia cleric, convicted for practising his own faith in East Java.

    • Oh, and I see Fadli Zon was quick to describe the police decision to name Ahok a ‘blasphemy’ suspect as a ‘relief.’

    To whom?

We covered Fadli’s declaration of ‘open house’ at the Indonesian Parliament buildings a week or so ago.

The Ahmadi refugees in Transito are just as much the people as those jihadists. They are undoubtedly better citizens, who believe in the pluralism of which President Jokowi has been boasting.

Will Fadli summon them  to Jakarta, to find more comfortable lodgings than the miserable shelter they’ve endured for years and years?

    PS Don’t hold yer breath!

Will Fadli Open ‘The People’s House” To Jakarta’s Homeless?

That was a most generous offer from Indonesia’s Fadli Zon, Deputy House Speaker, to the hordes of Islamist fanatics whose short “Long March” yesterday, billed as an Aksi Damai ( ‘Peace Action!)  ended in tear gas, with a mob of sectarian thugs attacking the police.

    • If that’s the case, that the House is ‘home to the people’ as Fadli asserts, what about all those people, the really needy people, sleeping under bridges or on those very streets?

Will Fadli throw open the gates of the opulent parliamentary complex in Senayan to people like those in these photographs?

Doesn’t the the plight of the poor weigh heavier on this politicians’s conscience than the accommodation exigencies of Islamist extremists?

But skip that question, ask another – should we at least  enquire if Fadli’s offer of grace and favour lodgings extends to every demonstrator in every protest that takes place in Jakarta, or just to jihadist extremists?

There are so many that there’d be no room for the legislators – and wouldn’t that break a lot of hearts across Indonesia?

    • Yes, it was Fadli Zon who caused no little controversy last year when photographed with the man who is (fingers crossed!)  just a few days away from entering the White House.

Hehehe. Ross you are so funny.
What politicians here will care about the poor people.
Always most of them only give helping hand to the people they like, not the people of Indonesia.

Of course his offer not extends to every demonstrator, because every demonstrator is not hate against Ahok. Fadli should put them in his own private personal house. or houses if he has many?
