Waitresses Urge Commonwealth To Oppose Rwanda Plan!
Waitresses Urge Commonwealth To Oppose Rwanda Plan!
….
Not precisely the headline ( or photo!) in the Guardian but then that’s the difference between my blog and elitist left media.
It wouldn’t occur to me to consider the opinions of less than two dozen people engaged in any particular occupation as headline-worthy, or in any way more significant than anyone else’s.
Yet the Guardian very clearly thinks very differently…

…..elevating the above nobodies ( in their photo) to some sort of special status, despite the obvious truth that being a ‘celebrity’ makes one an expert in nothing….
- – apart from being celebrities!-
…. at least nothing to do with migration policy.
Stars urge Commonwealth to oppose UK plan to send refugees to Rwanda
Celebrities including Sophie Okonedo and David Harewood say scheme shows ‘colonial view’ of Africa…
Never heard of that pair!
The letter – signed by more than 20 high-profile celebrities including Olivia Colman, David Harewood, Robert Rinder, Emma Thompson, Sophie Okonedo, Lemn Sissay and Benjamin Zephaniah – continued:
WAIT FOR IT!
“The prospect of being transported to Rwanda, and African countries like it, is enough to put off even the most desperate people fleeing war and persecution from coming to the UK.”
That rot confirms one’s suspicion that the signatories are profoundly ignorant on the issue…
…since the illegals at whom the Rwanda plan is aimed are NOT fleeing from any danger…
…but from a country where millions of Brits have long enjoyed happy holidays!
And what about this?
“This tells us much about the British government’s colonial and insulting view of Africa, as a place that is no better than a dumping ground for things – in this case people – it considers a problem.”
In fact, for many decades, the UK encouraged enterprising young Brits to settle in Africa, not in any sense ‘dumping’ them.
…but making good use of lands where they created real prosperity, until, admittedly the Mother Country let them down

PS Okay, I own up.
I have heard of Emma Thompson..
If Emma‘s Coming For Xmas Dinner, Lock Up Yer Pets!
….and expect no better of that daft old bat.

I get the point. we have been talking about this over a very late brunch and it is so annoying, these self-important celebrities who think their opinion matters more than working people. Catch the Guardian giving me or my mates a headline for what we think!
