Jakarta Fanatic Rally – Traffic Havoc – Top Cop Speaks Up!

Good to hear Indonesia’s top cop has pledged to prevent the Islamist fanatics implementing their nasty anti-social scheme to create traffic havoc.

General Tito Karnavian denounced the notorious sectarian extremist Habib Rizieq’s statement, which said the Dec. 2 protesters would carry out Friday prayers across the capital’s two main roads, namely Jl. MH Thamrin and Jl. Sudirman.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/11/21/police-to-ban-use-of-jakartas-main-roads-for-dec-2-rally.html

Curiously, the Jakarta Post reporter didn’t explain to JP readers about Rizieq, whom they described merely as a ‘spokesman’ for the GNPF-MUI  – that’s the recently organised ‘National Movement to Save the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Edicts…

    Oh, and –

Edicts, BTW,should have been left in its original, untranslated form, FATWAS

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

If you want to know more about the Indonesian Ulema Council’s fatwas, then you can flick through our search box and chortle at the absurd yoga ban, and shudder at their awful habit of running to the police to back up their dogmatic intolerance.

    ..

    FPI in action

    —-

But the JP should have said that Rizieq is in fact the ‘high priest’ of the IslamoNazi thug-gang, the FPI, self-styled ‘Islam Defenders Front.’

Again, check out our search box for their horrid habits.

    • ooooooooooooooooooooo

    ———-

Of course here in Indonesia, everyone knows that, but overseas readers should not be left in the dark about the true nature of the forces of darkness!

Tito said if demonstrators insisted on holding their rally on those roads, the police would disperse them and act firmly to anyone who opposed the police.

    GOOD!

Muslims can like everyone else, pray at any time, and in any place. I had a very nice Muslim colleague in London, who would pray in our staff smoking room. No problem.

But we have seen both here…Jakarta – Top Cop Slams Traff-Islamic-Jams   … and in Western countries…Paris ban on Muslim street prayers comes into effect – BBC News… examples of irresponsible crowds brazenly and needlessly obstructing  public roads and footpaths.

    • macetsemanggi1

    ‘normal’ Jakarta traffic jam

    • This should be outlawed and stern action taken.

    ——–

General Tito talks sense too about how to handle amok-runs, like that seen in Jakarta on 4th November.

Breaking News – Jakarta Cops Tear-Gas Islamist Louts!

Violent protesters would be charged with articles 212 to 218 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on attacks against public officials.

    congratulationssuperjob

That will be widely applauded, if it happens.

Pluralism? Muslim Sermons on Public Buses?

I don’t like flying. Never have, never will.

    =

    =

In the days when I had time to spare, my choice was always the ocean wave rather than way up high.

But one resigns oneself to it, pretending one is on a bus and avoiding the sight of clouds outside your window. Now, however, taking an actual bus here in Indonesia, at least in one major city, is going to be a bit of an ordeal as well.

Bandung, West Java’s top city, has many buses going to and fro on its streets, and the Jakarta Post last weekend reported there’s to be a program for Islamic preachers to board city buses and give sermons.

Bandung looks normal, but it IS in West Java!

Cops Stop West Java Worship, Appease Islamist Louts

    ——-

    Good grief.

Apart from the fact that no similar opportunity to hector helpless passengers appears to have been offered to Christian, Buddhist or Hindu preachers, who needs sermons when you’re on the way to work?

Anyone Muslim in Bandung, or anywhere in West Java, who wants to enjoy spiritual uplift, has a choice of multitudinous mosques to drop by. Most people who board a bus like to doze off, read a paper, or chat to whomsoever’s sitting next to them.

What gives Bandung City the right to disturb their preferred peaceful pastimes?

But it gets even weirder – the Mayor claims not to know anything about this sectarian propaganda scheme.

    Mayor Ridwan Kamil

“When they announced it, they did not have my permission. We have no such plan, why did they announce it? I am confused myself,” Ridwan Kamil said.

Seems like Hizonna needs to slap down those who’ve been keeping him in the dark about this bizarre plan, which was announced a few days earlier by H. Latief, the head of religious affairs at the city secretariat.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/08/15/bandung-mayor-has-not-given-nod-to-bus-sermons.html

According to Latief, the sermons will only happen on state-owned DAMRI buses. In Jakarta, they only run to the airport, but in Bandung, I don’t know.

Kasubag Sosial Keagamaan Bagian Kesra Setda Kota Bandung, H. Latief Latief

    00000000

However, if they are state-owned, all the more reason to stop Latief’s scheme. Indonesia is NOT an Islamic Republic, but a multi-faith nation, so this putative sectarian hi-jack is totally out of order.

    0000000000000

    • ———————-
    • But Latief’s arrogance is unbelievable. He asserts that the sermons would be better than just daydreaming, communicating through cell phones or sleeping.

No way is that for the likes of some jumped-up wowser like Latief to decide for you or me, buddy! Talking to family or friends, or texting, are splendid ways to pass time on a bus, as indeed is sleeping.

    ……………….

    sleep-6

    ——————

    And it gets worse!

Turns out it’s a joint project between the Ministry of Religious Affairs’ office in Bandung, the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) and Bandung Islamic State University.

    ————-

    • fatwa mui sholeh Ulemas are ‘scholars’ – so they say.
    • ————–
    • Hell, if the MUI has got anything to do with it, one must hope that the poor mayor can quickly regain control of his city administration. Any clerics the so-called ‘scholars’ approve are almost bound to be bad news!

    —————

    • ma'arruf amin  Ma’aruf
    • ———-

It was MUI’s Deputy Chair who kindly advised everyone that FGM is a ‘human right!’

     https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2013/03/06/clitoral-clip-no-scraping-suffices-tell-us-islamist-scholars-why-do-it/

And here’s another of their ‘scholars’ talking.

    ===================

    ————-

“If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

     —————–

So now we have a hint of what Latief means when he says the bus-preacher sermons would touch on the subject of “morals, good deeds, etc.”

It’s bad enough with getting blasted by the loud-speakers from the mosques.

Islamic ‘Scholars’ – Theology, Not Virginity, Best Test For Women Soldiers!

Thanks to the fatuous statements from its defenders, the crude virginity tests inflicted on members of the Indonesian Armed Forces – sorry, forgot to clarify, ONLY on women soldiers; such is the engrained sexist mentality here that men’s virginity isn’t at issue – are now world-famous.

    =======

    virgin soldiers

    ==

So not much point in posting on the nonsense.

But we can’t let the input from the MUI slide.

    • MUI-Indonesia
    • The Indonesian Council of Scholars – notorious for their bizarre fatwas against yoga, pre-wedding photos of engaged couples, girls using motor-cycle taxis, and much, much more – took me by surprise when a spokesman came out against the tests.

    Wow, I wondered. Sanity rising?

Silly me – the MUI have an infinitely  smarter approach in mind.

    Religion tests!

Syarifudin Damanhuri, the head of an East Java district chapter of the MUI, suggested a religion test instead, arguing that it would give military recruiters a better profile of an individual’s character than a virginity test ever could.            http://thejakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news/good-thing-military-chief-virginity-testing-female-recruits/

I trust this would be a serious examination measuring the troopers’ understanding of comparative religion?

Or would it be to ensure the candidates’ grasp of Indonesia’s constitutional commitment to pluralism, that key right to worship freely, practising whatever faith you have personally chosen as your own?

Or would it be some sort of catechism, Q and A on the tenets of only one creed? That would deny equal rights to those many faiths which the government declines to recognise when inscribing religious affiliation on the ID cards which every citizen has to carry.

    =

    e-KTP-contoh

    =

It would also be absolutely meaningless in terms of evaluating the moral worth of those tested. The TNI (armed forces) say the two-finger tests are all about “the dignity and the honor of the nation!” Yet even the most ardent unbeliever can swot up on the tenets of any and every faith and presumably pass with flying colours.

In fairness to the MUI, their proposed test is no more ridiculous than the existing one, and arguably less grossly offensive to the dignity of every woman in the world.

    =

icmm‘Keep your fingers for making a point, sergeant-major!’

    =

It will be fascinating to see if the  International Committee on Military Medicine (ICMM), whose 41st world conference is due to open tomorrow, right here in Indonesia, at Nusa Dua Convention Center, in Bali, has the cojones (will they be tested!) to take up the issue.

    =

    jokowi

    =

Or again, President Jokowi, to whom the TNI is responsible, could simply make a good speech there, when he gives the opening address, issuing clear orders for an immedate end to the barbaric and discriminatory practice.

Ahok OK – Lebih Baik KPAI Diam Aja!

One of the best things about Jakarta Governor Ahok is his refusal to follow the pathetic mealy-mouth mode of speech all too common among politicians here in Indonesia.

Like former Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, on the shameful 6-month jail-terms handed to sectarian savages after three innocent Ahmadis were brutally martyred at Cikeusik – in hindsight, whether the sense of justice is fully served, I don’t know…  https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/the-moderate-view-reporting-sectarian-violence-to-un-is-white-collar-crime/

    ————————–

To call a spade a spade is akin to blasphemy, it sometimes seems.

    —————————

    • ahok Ahok
    • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    • Not that Western countries lack personalities, entire classes of people, even, who will do anything except speak clearly.
    • We have the Obamanoid in-crowd who insist on calling illegal crimmigrants ‘undocumented migrants.’
    • There’s a whole range of PC new-speak that George Orwell could hardly have foreseen even in his wildest satirical day-dreams. We must not call Charlie Hebdo killers ‘terrorists’, says BBC ..

But still there remain certain expectations of politicians back West – that they’re elected to speak up and speak out. And we still have some honest media, unlike the BBC, that don’t twist the truth

Anyway, Governor Ahok really has set the cat among the uptight pigeons this time!

This threat to children’s innocent ears occurred during a live broadcast about the capital’s budget. Ahok is fighting valiantly against undesirable practices inside City Hall.

But if you tell it like it is, you get some very tantrumesque reactions here.

    tantrum

Now his perfectly understandable expostulations of disgust at civic scumbags have become the media’s focus, rather than the scumbaggery itself.

I last night watched a panel on TVOne with three men debating Ahok’s verbal ‘transgressions.’ One was Tantowi Yahya, Golkar Party MP and country singer, whom readers in Oz will remember for his xenophobic whining during the bludger boat row last year.

Tantowi’s Anti-Oz Rant Can Only Hurt The Needy!

     OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Country star Tantowi Yahya of the Golkar Party

    0ooooooooooooo

Tanto is vexed – how dare Ahok talk like that when kids might be listening. Another man from the Hanura Party took a cooler view. But prize for biggest mouth has to go to some middle-aged fellow talking in his capacity as spokesman for the Betawi Youth Forum!

Forty if he was a day! Don’t they have any youths to send to the studio? The poor chap was beside himself with indignation at Ahok, ranting loudly. At least that made me laugh.

But ignore that threesome, partisan figures with an axe to grind.

Let’s go back to the KPAI and their strident Chairman.  The story we linked to doesn’t mention that, despite our nice photo, the Chairman wears two hats.

    ——————————

He was, probably still is, up to his neck in the fanatic MUI, the self-styled Indonesian ‘Scholars’ Council,  and I can refer you to his previous bigot bleating on the MUI’s own website!

    • MUI-Indonesia
    • His name’s Asrorun Sholeh, featured on that website as one of their senior officers, Secretary of the Fatwa Commission, no less, shrilling frantically against Miss World http://mui.or.id/mui/homepage/berita/berita-singkat/soal-missworld-asrorun-niam-kirim-surat-terbuka-kepada-presiden-sby.html  – all the self-righteous, intolerant nonsense we had to hear from all those uptights back then.
    • Some of his fellow-fanatics were pretty ‘crude and rude’ – like the bigots in the photo below!
    • Did Asrorun scold them for their choice of vocabulary? Any child passing that demo could have read their obnoxious, obscene vilification of the beautiful girls who were guests of Indonesia.
    • ————-
    • 00000000
    • I’ve no idea, but he was very quick, when he got high office in the KPAI, to start spouting similar bilge about the Jakarta International School scandal…
    • The MUI man soon went off on a predictable tangent, howling about indecent behavior of JIS students and teachers. He said he had received reports about physical contact between teachers and students, and intimate relationships between female and male students.

Fanatic Stirs JIS Storm – MUI’s Asrorun Demands Sectarian Schooling!

    • oooooooooooooooooooooo

Asrorun Sholeh’s record of involvement with MUI should disqualify him from criticising Ahok over any crude or unpleasant statements the Guv may or may not have made.

If Asrorun wants to tell some people to shut their gobs, he should be addressing his intolerant, obscurantist MUI colleagues.

Like Ma’aruf Amin, who thinks that female circumcision is a ‘human right…’

Or Amidhan, who tells us ‘don’t complain’ if we’re attacked by IslamoNazi thugs…

Or Muhammad Al Khaththath, the extremist who thinks people should be killed for ‘defaming’ his religion….

For more specific links on these gents, see our older posts, like Congrats! A FINE Indonesian Muslim Scholar, Unlike MUI!

Once you familiarise yourself with the MUI’s disgraceful record, you may agree that it’s their kind of pernicious drivel that children should be protected from, not a few rude words like Ahok’s.

Netanyahu’s ‘Obsession’ and Kerry’s ‘Respect.’ How the West Was Lost?

Watched Euronews last night, election report from Israel (where apparently Netanyahu’s opponents may have had Obama funding  http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/235739-senate-panel-reportedly-probing-anti-netanyahu-funding ) and was impressed with their continued disregard for objective reporting.

    ———————-

Their journo actually referred to Bibi’s “obession with security.”

    Just like that!

Not as a quote from the opposition parties, no attribution to anyone – purely an expression of the hack’s prejudice. He could have said ‘concern with security’ or ‘prioritisation of security’ but no, ‘obsession,’ a word that carries the strongest implication of irrationality.

    ————–

    —————

Anyone living in Israel NOT thus ‘obsessed’ must be nuts!

Meanwhile, as the media salivates at the prospect of Netanyahu’s defeat this week, we have John Kerry, desperate to strike a deal with the savages who rule in Tehran, echoing HMV with a breath-taking declaration of his ‘ “great respect – great respect – for the religious importance of a fatwa.”

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/kerry-claims-great-respect-religious-importance-khameneis-fatwa_887865.html.

    • Fatwas? Respect? Fatwas issued in Iran?  Like that demanding the death of the innocent Salman Rushdie?

Those arch-bigot ayatollahs deserve contempt and denunciation for their fatwas. Their fatwas are how they suffocate freedom in their own country and extend their blood-stained hands to reach out against other, civilised, countries.

Between sell-out politicians and sicko media, Western survival is an ever-dwindling likelihood.
