An odd news item, concerning what it calls, correctly, surely, an ‘odd announcement’ by the firefighters of the agitator-infested city of Portland, Oregon.

Portland Fire & Rescue made an odd announcement at 7:25 on Sunday night: The bureau denied federal law enforcement officials had used its station houses—and said in future neither the feds nor the Portland Police Bureau would be welcome at its 31 stations strategically located throughout the city.

….is the city’s far-left Fire Commissioner, Baltimore-born Jo Ann Hardesty ( one of those not uncommon far-lefts who look like what they are!)

It was that far-from-cute comrade ( read her wikipedia bio to get a measure of her extremist record) who issued the outrageous edict –

 

– ‘no PF&R station will be used by law enforcement of any kind, to include Portland police, for any tactical operations until further notice.’

It would be inconceivable for any fire chief in Britain to outlaw law enforcement from fire stations and that’s why this caught my attention.

Emergency services are meant to work together!

But once I got into the story and checked out Comrade Hardesty, I realised that this woman does not have ANY professional connection to the fire-fighters she purports to speak for.

She is a political hack, a former Oregon state legislator on the wildest fringes of the Democrat Party, who very possibly made the switch from state to city politics….

….because she’s sly enough to figure that a barracuda in a bath-tub has more impact than a catfish in a lake.

A lot of fairly ignorant people try to justify the desecration of statues by claiming the Confederate forces were fighting for ‘slavery.’

They weren’t  – Lincoln didn’t declare for emancipation until well after the war began.

The Confederates were in fact defending the constitutional case that, since their states had freely joined together with other states to create the USA, so too, by simple logic, they should be free to secede.

Currently, in Oregon, various far-left extremists are sailing very close to a secessionist wind, refusing to maintain order but raging at President Trump for doing that essential job.

In a statement, Customs and Border Protection said:

While the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) respects every American’s right to protest peacefully, violence and civil unrest will not be tolerated. Violent anarchists have organized events in Portland over the last several weeks with willful intent to damage and destroy federal property, as well as injure federal officers and agents. These criminal actions will not be tolerated.

CBP agents had information indicating the person in the video was suspected of assaults against federal agents or destruction of federal property. Once CBP agents approached the suspect, a large and violent mob moved towards their location. For everyone’s safety, CBP agents quickly moved the suspect to a safer location for further questioning. The CBP agents identified themselves and were wearing CBP insignia during the encounter. The names of the agents were not displayed due to recent doxing incidents against law enforcement personnel who serve and protect our country.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and its components will continue to work tirelessly to reestablish law and order. The Federal Protective Service (FPS) is the lead government agency that CBP personnel are supporting. CBP personnel have been deployed to Portland in direct support of the Presidential Executive Order and the newly established DHS Protecting American Communities Task Force (PACT). CBP law enforcement personnel have been trained and cross designated under FPS legal authority 40 U.S.C. § 1315.

Police told protesters to leave that site after announcing they heard some chanting about burning down the building. Protester Paul Frazier said on Friday the chant was “much more rhetorical than an actual statement”.
