Ramadan Raids In Righteous Indonesia – Oh Yeah?

Crimes of course ceases altogether during Ramadhan in Indonesia, as elsewhere.

    • Hence work has to be found for numerous cops with nothing better to do, and at the weekend the authorities in Banjarmasin, in South Kalimantan Province duly found the bored constables some exciting, and ever-so-useful, duties to perform.

They raided hotels and dragged off no fewer than ELEVEN couples for being intimate outside of wedlock! http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/06/27/11-unmarried-couples-netted-in-ramadhan-hotel-raids.html

Did they actually catch them ‘at it?’ Or were the arrests before or after the dreadful deeds were done?

No answer to be found in the reports.

“The couples could not prove that they were husband and wife so we detained them and brought them to the station,” Banjarmasin Sabhara Police Adj. Comr. Syaiful Bob said on Monday.

So 22 people doing no harm to anyone – most of them teens – were hauled off and made to sign a pledge that they would not repeat the offense.

Funny how fornication is okay according to the time of year it’s committed. Downright laughable that the excuse for this display of selective moral policing is that it’s to create a conducive atmosphere ahead of the Idul Fitri holiday.

But even the most devout are allowed to eat, drink, smoke etc, except during daylight hours.

    So how come no bonking?

Ooops! Of course, it’s because they’re not man and wife. So are we to understand that adultery and related activities are AOK every other month except Ramadhan?

Great to live amid a society so respectful of matrimonial vows.

It’s not often you write in this deliberately bland way. An understated style sometimes makes your case more boldly.
However I do not think for a moment that you will use this method more than once a year!

“Mula2 Malu2, Lama2 Mau!” More Uptight Antedeluvian Censorship!

I missed this story but it’s so pathetic that, even after a few weeks, as an example of kill-joy censorship in Indonesia, it merits a mention.

Amawana.com reported how some cigarette advertising billboards considered “obscene…” immediately received criticism from netizens, including other parties such as the MUI.

    fatwa mui sholeh

It’s the MUI, the self-styled ‘scholars’ of the Indonesian Ulema Council. That state-subsidised sticky-beak outfit isn’t ALWAYS on the wrong side of arguments here, but to be fair, their narrow minds more often than not end up embarrassing normal Indonesians, fellow-Muslims as well as others.

    A fatwa against yoga!

And this outrageous drivel on female circumcision!

    ma'arruf amin  Ma’aruf Amin

…Ma’aruf Amin,  senior spokesman for the Indonesian Ulema Council had this to say on the subject -…it is an”advisable practice on moral grounds…he rejects any attempt to declare this practice illegal or contrary to the principles. It comes under the sphere of “human rights,” said the Islamist leader, and is “guaranteed by the Constitution.” Remove This Horrendous ‘Human Right’ from British Society

But let’s have a look at what’s more recently got the uptights upset!

    Iklan Rokok Dianggap Mesum
Iklan Rokok Dianggap Mesum – ‘Cigarette Ad Perceived As Salacious!’

It seems the ‘salacious’ ads, which appeared in several cities such as Cirebon, Bandung and Jakarta, displayed a man embracing a woman’s waist, and the woman embracing the shoulder of the man, in a pose as if to be kissed.

An orgiastic scene indeed. Whatever next?

Glimpses of cleavage on tv? Ya gotta be kidding! The state censors here ensure that not even Nigel Farage’s eagle eye could spot a bit of boob on the box.

    Nor a bum!

Dimana Bokong2nya? – Where Are Our Buttocks?

But it’s not just the lascivious posturing of this shamelessly lustful couple that copped crack-pot criticism!

In the advertisement, there were also written the words – “Mula mula malu-malu, lama lama mau”.

“Shying away at first, but at length, eager!”

    Well, hell, grossly obscene!

    Tobacco as aphrodisiac?

Is it really possible that a kiss can scare the pants off these pathetic prudes? Do they really reckon that a kiss inevitably ends up in a tumultuous bout of fornication?

These ads are considered to urge people not only to smoke, but also do nasty things as highlighted in the message that is displayed visually.

    Damn right!

Must be stomped before every passer-by goes at it like rabbits in heat!

But sure enough, in response, the PT HM Sampoerna Tbk finally took down the billboard which was in various cities since 6 January.

And the company’s head of regulatory affairs, Elvira Lianita, showed serious reluctance to reveal which advertising agency it was which made these ads….

Elvira said this was for strategic business reasons, but no matter – given the way sectarian thug gangs run amok, it’s probably safer for them not to be identified.
