Hey, Palestinians! Quit With The Victim Card – Till You Stop Victimising Christian Arabs!

“The systematic persecution of Christian Arabs living in Palestinian areas is being met with nearly total silence by the international community, human rights activists, the media and NGOs…” — Justus Reid Weiner, attorney, “Palestinian Christians: The plight of believers under Palestinian rule”

We have often enough reported on the persecution of Christians here in Indonesia.

The case of Yasmin Church, in Bogor, just outside Jakarta, shut down by bigots years ago and still sealed off today, despite both Supreme Court and Ombudsman rulings in the Christian congregation’s favour…

…is a glaring example of inquity. Incredibly, there was a meeting a week ago, Tim 7 Dibentuk Selesaikan Masalah Pembangunan GKI …  which discussed the GKI Yasmin case.

If there was an ounce of commitment to religious liberty, that ‘moderate’ Mayor of Bogor would have told the fanatics to ‘F-Off’ and unsealed the church. But let’s not be silly – there’s no chance of that.

Another example is the HKBP Filadelfia church in Tambun, Bekasi…

However, today, I am directing you to the plight of Palestinian Christians, because, as that man quoted at the top of the page says, nobody seems to give a damn about them, certainly not the United Nations, and we hear precious little from the ‘NGOs’ that whine constantly about Israel’s shortcomings.

Java Christians STILL Forced To Worship On Pavement!

A trip into town today, to observe the lack of religious liberty in Indonesia today.

Still There! Oppressed Christians Swelter In Jakarta!

In fact, the oppression of the GKI Yasmin congregation has gone on for years, since the Islamist bigot Mayor of Bogor shut them down by sealing the site of their house of worship.

Vicious savages and the Bogor civic militia physically prevented them exercising their right to worship there.

The police watched the victims of Islamist intolerance pray outside the sealed site.

Please note, decent Muslims, like Lily Wahid…

Meanwhile the old bigot mayor was replaced by a ‘moderate…’

…who has devalued that adjective ever since.

    So today I went along…

…and there they were, many years into their struggle for justice, on the pavement across the road from Jokowi’s State Palace. They have for long kept a vacant stool for their President, should he care to join them – he never has!

Elections next year, when Jokowi will again face his rival Prabowo, and it’s with a heavy heart that – since both have chosen shariah fanatics as their running mates – I must predict that the persecution of the Yasmin Protestants will not cease.

How sad for this lovely country!

Oppressed Christians In The Street Heat, In Pluralist Indonesia

Just got home, late afternoon, and it’s still hot outdoors.

Every year, every other week, these brave, persecuted Christians have been worshipping on Jakarta’s street, forced to do so because the Government of Indonesia will not enforce a ruling from their own Supreme Court.

Two weeks ago, the pre-Easter Service, across the street from President Jokowi’s Palace

The endless torment of these innocent people is an affront to anyone with a sense of justice. But the engrained Islamist intolerance among many here, not most but many, has to be seen and heard to be believed.

Take the ‘moderate’ Mayor of Bogor, where the GKI Yasmin congregation’s sealed church is located.

His predecessor was a frothing fanatic, and when Bima Arya was elected a couple of years ago, a lot of us seriously thought this might herald a new era of religious liberty.

Instead, we had to publish the reality, under this headline.

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’

So today, Easter Sunday, off I went to show solidarity on the roadside opposite President Jokowi’s Palace.

    Persecuted Protestants begin worship.

I took these two photos (above and below) myself today- sorry if they’re not high quality.

The sign records the sadfact that this is the 142nd time they’ve been here on the street, instead of their own church, which was sealed by vicious sectarian bigots

It’s been the practice of these oppressed Christians to reserve one of their little plastic seats for Jokowi, in case he cares enough to join them.

But, presumably to underline his oft-proclaimed commitment to plurlism and religious liberty, he’s never crossed the street to join them…

Xmas On Street For Victims of Indonesia’s Islamists

Even a God-awful newspaper can sometimes do something good.

That was my reaction when I saw that the Jakarta Post had reported on the Sunday service opposite President Jokowi’s Palace downtown, held by two congregations that have suffered and are still suffering persecution by the nastiest Islamist bigots in the land.

Churches hold public service as reminder of their struggle

Mind you, as far as I know, these oppressed Christians hold such protest services every second Sunday, so while the JP’s interest is welcome, it’s a pity they don’t report on the shameful state of affairs on a twice-monthly basis.

That report at the top of our page was published way back, several months ago. The oppressed Christians were there again today – I was in town but saw no sign of them, only to get home at 1.30pm and see on the internet that they planned a 2pm kick-off.

The churches concerned, GKI Yasmin and HKBP Filadelfia, are denied access to their places of worship by a combination of brutal fanatic gangs and local governments which either lack the guts to stand up for religious liberty or are in cahoots with the vilest jihadist elements.

Bekasi’s Islamist Regime – ‘We Won’t Allow Religious Liberty If Bigot Thugs Object!’

That report concerns Bekasi, one such local authority, but another, Bogor, also in West Java, right next door to Jakarta, has recently shown its continuing contempt for civil and religious liberty…

Bigoted Bogor – City Seeks IslamoNazi Link-Up!

…and its mayor, once described, in all seriousness, as a ‘moderate’ Muslim, has shown himself every bit as coldly indifferent to the rights of these poor Christians as his avowedly Islamist predecessor who kicked off their oppression years ago.

    bima-arya-sugiarto-ketua-dpp-pan Bogor Mayor Bima Arya

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’

As for the other church, HKBP in Tambun, our reports on what they’ve had to go through in recent years are horrific to read.

Christ’s Ascension Day – Islamist Savages Pelt Congregation With Sewage, Urine and Rocks

Nor was that the only occasion these peaceful Protestants faced that sort of stinking barrage from a stinking rabble!

    • Head-Scarfed Harpies Hurl Dung and Urine at Christians

    • But while IslamoNazi thugs and benighted local local bigwigs are deplorable, what’s most distressing, perhaps, is the national government’s failure to enforce the law – in GKI Yasmin’s case, a ruling from the highest court in the archipelago.

    • President SBY’s indifference to their plight was perhaps unsurprising, but I’m sure everyone who voted for Jokowi believed he was genuinely committed to the religious pluralism which was bequeathed to Indonesia by the nation’s founding fathers.

Bigoted Bogor – City Seeks IslamoNazi Link-Up!

Bogor is a place I’ve been to a  few times, to admire their famous botanical gardens.

In recent years, I’ve been in no hurry to go back, no interest in spending my mite of ‘tourist’ cash in a community whose commitment to religious liberty is so threadbare that their so-called ‘moderate’ mayor denies the very existence of the persecuted Protestant congregation of the GKI Yasmin church.

Alas, there’s little likelihood of improvement, given the news last month that the Bogor regency DPRD – the local authority – has declared it wants to synergize with the IslamoNazi FPI.

FPI’s major contribution can be made through their scholarly contribution, the role to co-educate and strengthen the faith of the people in the area.

We read in Republika.com that the Chairman of the Bogor Regency, Ade Ruhandi, visited the FPI headquarters in the village of Sukagalih, Megamendung subdistrict, Bogor Regency.

And Lucky Ade got to meet with the FPI’s ‘high priest,’ Habib Rizieq Shihab.

    • I don’t know how ‘scholarly’ Ade himself claims to be, but he certainly seems not to have read very much of news and current events in Indonesia over the past decade or more.

For me Rizieq is a great scholar, nationwide.” Ade openly expressed his desire to reach out to clerics to jointly build Bogor regency. ” History has proved that the role of scholars is needful for this nation. This is what we expect from FPI, ” he said.

Oh, yeah? ‘Scholars needful for the nation?

Gimme a break! Here’s what a lot of ‘scholars’ here, and not just those in the FPI, are like.

Intolerance in Indonesia – When Oppression’s No Longer News!

Up early today, as somebody wants to meet me for lunch in town, and traffic here means a long journey is entirely possible.

I had another mostly sunny Sunday in Jakarta the other day, spent at home as I had a visitor. But today, my thoughts turn to next weekend, a holiday weekend, of course.

I’ve been checking out ‘news search’ sites to see if the persecuted Christians here are holding their Good Friday or Easter Sunday services across the street from President Jokowi’s Palace in downtown Jakarta.

I think I mentioned last time that there was a seat ( they have to bring along the little plastic stools, or just stand there in broiling heat or pouring rain) reserved – but empty, of course – for the President.

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful thing if he decided to walk across the street from his stately home and put give meaning to his frequent words about Indonesia being a land of religious tolerance.

Bogor’s Mayor Cowers From Bigotry – West Java Shamed AGAIN!

Disgusting tale of bigotry, from Bogor, West Java, today, no surprise, alas, because that city’s Mayor Bima Arya has a miserable record of cowering from fanatics, despite his pre-election reputation as a ‘pluralist’ and ‘moderate.’

Now he’s banned the Shiite minority from holding their annual Ashura event today.

    • freedom-of-religion

Because a bunch of Islamist fanatics want it banned, and Hizonna lacks the guts to order his plentiful civic militia to safeguard freedom of religion!

Again, no surprise, because the militia, known here as the SatPol PP, have a shameful record in that respect, better known for enforcing Bogor’s illegal prevention of Christians from worshipping in their own church!

Mayor Bima’s the bright boy who summed up that issue by telling the GKI Yasmin congregation that they don’t exist, so why should he act justly towards them!

    bima-arya-sugiarto-ketua-dpp-pan  X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’

No matter both the Supreme Court and the National Ombudsman both found in favour of the ‘non-existent’ Christians!.

This latest grovelling by authorities comes after shocking scenes in Bandung, also West Java, where would-be celebrants were forced by hard-liners to cut short a similar event.

    An odd phrase, ‘hardliners.’

A more accurate term might be sectarian savages, unhindered by the police.

A mere 120 people claiming to be “defending” the dominant Sunni interpretation of the faith interrupted an Ashura celebration at the Sidolig sports stadium, forcing an early end to the event attended by thousands of people.

This victory for jihadist louts occurred despite the presence of a thousand cops, all armed and trained but evidently over-awed by the evil intolerants, because although they prevented the hard-liners from entering, still the law-abiding Shia had to be escorted out of the stadium.

The Jakarta Globe journo must have a sense of humour, because he writes that it was not immediately clear why the massive police force didn’t prevent the activists from disturbing the event.

    • The report adds a pathetic confession of police indifference from Bandung’s top cop, a person clearly given to mealy-mouthed piffle – the important thing was that everybody was safe.

No, not so – the important thing is that religious liberty was crushed once more, because nobody gave the order to the police on duty to draw their guns and subdue the scum.

“Our duty was to ensure security,” he said. “We had prepared a thousand officers.”

But the worshippers were denied the security they had a right to expect, because the 1000 officers didn’t maintain security- they let the jihadist jerks attain their obnoxious objective!

If only Jokowi would order his National Police to enforce that Supreme Court ruling in Bogor, and to confront the foes of freedom who pollute his beautiful archipelago.
