Air Force Commander bans Bible from base display

The commander of Warren Air Force Base in Cheyenne, Wyoming, is refusing to back down after she surrendered to the demands of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation and removed a Bible from a POW-MIA table.

Col. Stacy Jo Huser, the 90th Missile Wing commander has personally decided that the Bible should be replaced with a generic “book of faith” to ensure “the religious and non-religious feel included and cared for.”

Sign our petition to United States Air Force Secretary Heather Wilson.

According to Todd Starnes, the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) had complained that the inclusion of God’s Word was a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

The Air Force has specifically directed base commanders to ignore MRFF founder Mikey Weinstein and direct him to take his juvenile complaints to the Pentagon for response.

Huser disobeyed this command and cowered to the anti-Christian activist without as much as a whimper.

• I know this because its top man, Yusuf Yusnar, is in the news deploring the cover of the special anniversary issue of  Charlie Hebdo. It has on its cover, so I’m told, God, as an old man carrying weapons and covered in blood.

I dare say this is offensive to many people of all religions.

Equally offensive to many people of all religions, and of none, is the photo of the Hizbut Tahrir bigot gang’s protest posters, which whine about ‘insults to the prophet being the shape of democratic freedoms.’

…But it’s Yusnar’s take on religion in Indonesia that captivates me. The Hebdo   charges were reckoned to generalize Islam as belligerent and not liking peace. 

Yusnar argues that it’s not like that in Indonesia.

Harmony, he said, can be established, even with people of different beliefs….

“Yes, of course Charlie Hebdo cannot not generalize that all religious life leads to violence,” he said.

Well, they can, rightly or wrongly. That’s press freedom, whether the MUI likes it or not.

As every Indonesian knows, if you don’t have an official ID card, the KTP, your life is far from easy. Never mind you can’t vote – basic government services require its production at just about every level.

What an obnoxious demand to make! It’s none of these ‘scholars’ business what name a man goes by.

Nor the Government’s.

In Latin countries, there are loads of guys named Jesus.

East Java MUI chairman Abdusshomad Bukhori said it was not ethical for a person to choose Tuhan as a name for a human being. “[He should] add something before or after the name, or better yet, change his name,” Abdusshomad said as quoted by kompas.com.

Entitled to offer the man advice, maybe…but then to demand the authorities intimidate him!?!

Yet once we see Bukhori is the niggler in the woodpile, we need hardly read on.

It’s only ‘sensitive’ to primitives. Grown-ups understand that God Almighty is big enough to take care of Himself, and certainly doesn’t need a mindless sectarian mob to back Him up.
