Good Java Muslims Hunt For Hizbut – Oz And UK Please Note!

Most Australians, probably, are well aware of the foul fanaticism of Hizbut Tahrir…

Hizb ut-Tahrir’s Australian leader recently called on the country to become an Islamic state ruled by Islamic law and for a boycott of Anzac Day.   http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/national/australias-generation-jihad-is-homegrown/story-fnii5s41-1226653324521

We have noted HTUK’s thoughts on the monstrous Woolwich murder…

“The least we as Muslims should have done was ask Allah to forgive them for their mistakes, not call them kafir…the secularists and moderates amongst the Muslim community went further and made takfir on the Woolwich perpetrators and began showing their support for. British troops. This is a clear example of when people are scared, they’ll say too much..

At least those swine never hid the truth of their jihadist urges!

Yet the Hizbut horrors have yet to be outlawed, either in Britain or in Australia!

…But it HAS been legally proscribed here in Indonesia.

And the civilised, sensible Muslims here are taking no chances on HT oozing back into society.

Flash forward to Thursday, this week in Indonesia, specifically Rembang, in East Java, where the excellent Muslims of Banser targetted a madrassah educational institution, urging its closure.

    What is Banser?

We explained that a week ago.

Indonesia – Fiery Fury Over Freedom Banners – But Good For Gus!

It’s the security wing of the largest Muslim organisation in Indonesia.

    Why did they act??

Because, as the story in JPNN puts it, the madrassah was ‘considered a place for regeneration by sympathizers of the mass organization that had been dissolved by the government…

    .

…for regenerating the teachings of the caliphate…’

    ’Caliphate?’

Hizbut Tahrir has as its goal the subjection of sovereign nations to a global caliphate with no pretence of democracy. https://m.jpnn.com/news/inilah-penyebab-banser-di-rembang-meradang

I am happy when you write about Indonesia, Ross.
Hizbut Tahrir is illegal here and Banser is good to chase them.
I see our Minister of Religion is also praising Banser.
Now the government should make other bad extremist movements illegal.
I hope you will write more like this.

Indonesia – Fiery Fury Over Freedom Banners – But Good For Gus!

    ..

Sad to read in suara.com that a bunch of sectarian uptights are up in arms about a banner celebrating Indonesia’s Independence Day, which falls next Monday…

    .

The Karanganyar Islamic Ummah Alliance (AUIK) protested the installation of a banner for the 75th Indonesian Independence Day in Karanganyar, Central Java. The banner, designed by the central government, is claimed to resemble the symbol of a cross.

    https://www.suara.com/news/2020/08/09/194113/dituding-mirip-salib-spanduk-hut-ri-ke-75-diprotes-ormas-islam?

    Oh, here we go again.

    .

    .

If you look for problems, in almost any context, you’re pretty sure to find them.

These sectarian uptight outfits are inexplicably described here in Jakarta media as ormas, ‘community organisations!’

I was downtown this week, and identical banners are all over the place.

They are approved by the government of President Jokowi, who is of course Muslim, as are 90% of Indonesians, and Jakartans.

    ..

Some of the banners are big, hung vertically, others are smaller, hung horizontally.

None of the many people going about their business in town seemed in any way bothered by the design.

on the left side of the banner is the number 75 which indicates the age of Indonesian independence….on the right side of the banner, you can see a pattern of blocks that are claimed to resemble the symbol of a cross….

Yes, if you look hard enough and long enough and with enough determination to be offended!

Representatives from AUIK came to the Karanganyar Regional Secretariat office to voice the protest. They insisted that the banner be removed and the design changed.

Incredibly, according to the report, the banner has been taken down by the local government…

    .

    .

And what must President Jokowi think when he hears that!

Again, according to suara.com… the logo is the official logo used for all banners celebrating the 75th Indonesian Independence Day…

    .

inspired by the shield symbol in the emblem of Garuda Indonesia.

    Looks good to me.

But then, although I have many demerits, I am not cross-eyed!

I was all set to publish this when I spotted a welcome intervention from GP Ansor, one of Indonesia’s rational Muslim organisations. Their chairman, Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, known as Gus, who is also a parliamentarian, has asked the obvious question.

    .

Menakar Kapasitas Yaqut Cholil Qoumas sebagai Menteri

    Yaqut Cholil Qoumas
    .

Why are we in such a fuss about stuff that has no real substance?
    https://m.jpnn.com/news/komentar-gus-yaqut-soal-mirip-salib-di-spanduk-hut-ri-ada-saran-untuk-aa-gym

He recognises that, with the archipelago in the grip of a deadly virus, leaders both political and religious, must surely have more serious priorities, rather than whining about a design which is to be seen everywhere this week and about which only the usual suspects are gibbering.

GP Ansor is the youth section of Banser, the security wing of the largest Muslim organisation in Indonesia.

It has often been a source of informed and sensible comment, and action, here.

Another ‘Blasphemy’ Victim! Indonesia Embarrassed Again?

After sending a good man to prison for ‘offences’ that would be laughed out of court in most democratic countries…

    =

Slouching Towards Shariah, Indonesia Jails Ahok

…Indonesia now faces further embarrassment over its archaic ‘blasphemy’ legislation.

The interestingly named ‘Democratic Party’ has expelled a local official in East Java, because he dared question some tenets of the Muslim creed.

    =

    Gambar terkait

    =

That’s the same party that ran SBY’s successful campaign for the presidency a few years ago, and since he, during his years in office, not only did nothing to scrap the bizarre ‘blasphemy’ law…

….but actually proposed that sectarian censorship be made a global diktat, no surprises, I guess, that the ‘Democrats’ are so eager to stomp poor Mr. Rendra Hadikurniawan.

    =

    Hasil gambar untuk Rendra Hadikurniawan

Detained for saying what he thinks – Rendra taken by cops

    =

And indeed, any party has the right to expel any member it doesn’t want.

But the next chapter in this sorry saga is horrific, at least to those of us who care about Indonesia’s image overseas.

Sidoarjo Ansor Youth Movement (GP Ansor), the youth wing of Nahdlatul Ulama, said the statement from Rendra, who was a member of the Democratic Party prior to the allegations, had hurt a lot of Muslims.

    htmlwww.thejakartapost.com/news/2018/04/29/democratic-party-politician-arrested-for-alleged-blasphemy.html

Unlikely that anybody was admitted to hospital from watching a video, so we must assume G P Ansor means those pathetic ‘hurt feelings,’ which normal grown-ups handle without running crying to the cops.

    Times are a’changing here.

I had always – but now no longer – considered GP Ansor a ‘moderate’ outfit, because they had real cred in standing up to Islamist louts….

But not any more, if this report is accurate – and I have no reason to think it’s inaccurate.

    =

    =

“We reported him to the police to avoid further public unrest,” said the organization’s deputy chairman, Rachmad Muzayin, on Friday

East Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Frans Barung Mangera said that the police officers had arrested Rendra in Trawas in Mojokerto.

    =

    For pity’s sakes!

Is it now a criminal offence to question dogma?

    Well, yes, obviously!

Thank you Ross. I was hoping you may write about this new attack on free speech by a new enemy, the Ansor. I also believed they were on our side for freedom, but I am very disappointed.

President Jokowi made a promise to us for a Mental Revolution but that is impossible when we still have not got free from this olden times blasphemy censorship.

Very happy always when you come back to writing about Indonesia again and I am in agreement about this man Rendra .
Why can he not say what he wants about any religion?
Ansor and the NU let us down. They want oppose extremists but now they do extremists job and tells us we cannot speak about religion as we wish to.
They are same like the intolerant MUI who will never debate but always ban. .
      What are they afraid of?

I was just talking about this and then saw what you have written. Words of wisdom, and I dont always say that about your blog, Ross.
Its pitiful how thin-skinned these ‘religious’ people can be.
What the hell will be next?
Ramadan starts in a couple of weeks.
Will the FPI be out again picking on people who want to eat lunch?
Or is it now so bad that the police will enforce the fast on everyone, whether we are fasting or not?
Are we the last generation of happy expats here?

It is easy for you expats.
You may leave Indonesia anytime you want to leave.
      Have a pity on us.
We must live here in our country eventhough it is not like our country anymore.
Once we were freed from the Dutch. Who will free us from those who think like Arabs?
