    The Fanatic Returns! Indonesian “Scholar” Offers Warm Welcome!

    Shocking news!

    Habib Rizieq is back, but this has been predicted for some time.

    Watching TVOne at 11am, we saw footage of the scene on the toll road to the airport, where would-be passengers have been forced to walk with heavy bags to catch their flights, or sit in their cars and miss their flights…

    .

    .

    …as fanatic FPI hordes have swarmed all over the area.

    Where are the police, with water cannon to clear the way for the public, on a public highway?

    What’s this all about?

    Let me digress…

    I have had to comment on the collective character of the MUI (Indonesian Ulema Council ) from time to time over the years ..

    “A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

    Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

    “If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

    Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

    …but gradually wearied of that, because no government has stood up to them, nor even cut their tax-funding, no matter what outlandish things they say.

    But their deputy chairman, Muhyiddin Junaidi, made such a breath-taking assertion this month that I feel obliged to let overseas readers know about it.

    I haven’t written anything about Junaidi for years, not since the MUI’s antics seven years ago…

    MUI thinks the contest image remains attached to advance the genitalia.

    Junaidi,_MA_ Junaidi

    …not since he and his colleagues were up in arms about sexy girls.

    But this month Muhyiddin proclaimed that the much touted return from (self-) exile in Saudi Arabia of Habib Rizieq, ‘ can encourage Muslims in Indonesia to be more enthusiastic in preventing evil.

    .

    Habib Rizieq of the FPI

    Muhyiddin assessed that Rizieq was a cleric figure who had excellence and was creative when dealing with something that was considered wrong. Especially at this time, according to him, acts that violate Allah SWT’s orders are considered massive in Indonesia.’ Currently, evil is rampant and very massive,” he said…
    Muhyiddin considered Rizieq an asset for Muslims in Indonesia.

    Veteran readers here will know all about Habib Rizieq, and his vigilante gang, the FPI…

    …..

    ….the self-styled ‘Islam Defenders Front,’ and if you are new to our blog, you may use our Search box, over to the right side, to familiarise yourselves with that particular outfit and same goes for their ‘Grand Imam,’ though this photo and report…

    ..

    • Jakarta Governor candidate Anies Baswedan wins an adoring smile from ferocious FPI ‘grand imam, Habib Rizieq, who had suggested the Christian Governor Ahok be slain for unacceptably quoting some Koranic verse –.“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.

    …is one we use to illustrate his many contributions to public life.

    oooo

    oooo

    Yes, Rizieq seriously believes that ‘blasphemers’ deserve to be put to death!

    That was four years ago, but there’s no reason to suppose he has changed his view, despite recent events in France, so perhaps Junaidi is wise to add a little to his eulogy, as follows!

    He also realized that Rizieq still had many shortcomings. Therefore, a synergy is needed in preaching by other scholars or ustaz in order to fill this gap.
    https://m.cnnindonesia.com/nasional/20201105105638-20-566191/mui-sebut-kepulangan-rizieq-shihab-bangkitkan-gairah-umat

    Now we wait, while pundits discuss Rizieq’s likelihood of running for President.

    Indonesia is heading into interesting times,

    Can Petitions Predict Indonesia’s Future – Free Or Fanatic?

    You may remember this individual, who expressed the hope that Jakarta’s best-ever governor, Jokowi, face the death penalty for referring to some verse from the Koran?

    ===

    Yes, it’s Rizieq, ‘high priest’ of the sectarian vigilante gang that calls itself the ‘Islam Defenders Front.’

    The FPI!

    Despite Rizieq’s bloodthirsty exhortation, and the howls that issued from savage primitives who shuffled through Jakarta back then…

    The protesters, most of whom were men dressed in white Muslim attire, were heard yelling, “We want a Muslim governor,” “Burn Ahok!” and “Kafir!”   http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/10/14/thousands-hard-liners-march-against-ahok.htm

    ——

    ahok

    Ahok

    ——

    …Ahok was not killed( merely imprisoned, for Pete’s sake!) after a trial that shamed Indonesia around the world.

    If you are new to our pages, there are plenty of links to our past reports on their violent and intolerant antics on our blog –

    FPI_13

    Jakarta – Anti-Fanatic Petition

    That was about a petition by pro-tolerance Indonesians asking that the FPI’s permit to function as a ‘community organisation’ be not renewed.

    Have a look – or you may just sample these older posts.

    Nightmare – Indonesian IslamoNazis Get Armed Forces Training!

    But this latest petition sets a new standard in courage, demanding that the fanatic Rizeq be stripped of his Indonesian citizenship!

    He is currently in Saudi Arabia, and has been there quite a while…Indonesian hard-line cleric ducks facing porn charges again …evidently not eager to come home.

    Anyway, here’s the link to the new petition…

    https://www.change.org/p/joko-widodo-cabut-status-wni-rizieq-shihab

    …,which is doing very well.

    Only Indonesian citizens are entitled to add their names, but it’s well worth reading!

    I’m sure if you use Google Translate you’ll get the gist of it.

    Or use this Tempo link  –https://en.tempo.co/read/1212894/fpi-rejects-petition-demanding-rizieq-shihab-citizenship-revoked  – if you are not up to Google’s efforts!

    Needless to say, the Islamist fanatics of the FPI are not best pleased. Their Jakarta gauleiter, Novel, says they’re starting their own petition.

    We have heard of his enlightened outlook on life previously!

    ………

    They were able to mobilise several hundred thousand bigots for the anti-Ahok shuffling, so if all of those were able to read and write, the FPI petition might catch up…or not.

    In fact, the FPI petition is not actually about Rizieq. Instead they are targetting President Jokowi!

    Quote-  to urge the Constitutional Court to disqualify the Presidential Candidate number 01 Joko Widodo….

    This may be a clever tactic, since Jokowi’s Vice-President was a star witness AGAINST Ahok.

    Will the President consult his VP before responding to the multitude of decent folk demanding that Rizieq be deprived of citizenship? Jokowi’s VP Pick

    And if he does, how will VP Ma’aruf advise him?

    Prabowo Disavows Califascism – Now How About Vigilante Gangs?

    Interesting to read that the self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam’ in the FPI apparently were on the receiving end last week.

    https://www.thejakartapost.com/amp/news/2019/04/07/jokowi-maruf-supporters-clash-with-rival-group-at-fpi-base-in-yogyakarta.html

    The scene of the clash was the FPI premises in Jogjakarta, which, we read, is the HQ in that vicinity of Prabowo’s presidential campaign team.

    Oh! But is that just a local arrangement?

    Hardly!

    Their ‘grand imam,’ Habib Rizieq, whom we used to feature here a lot, prior to his decision that it was more prudent  to take up residence in Saudi Arabia…

    Would it not be very welcome, and very reassuring, to everyone who cares about Indonesia’s future as a pleasant, pluralist, peaceful place to live in, if he were also now to disown the apparent support he’s receiving from Rizieq and his white-shirt gang?

    And just to show I am being even-handed ( and I am genuinely neutral in this year’s election) would it not be even more welcome and reassuring if BOTH presidential candidates…

    Rizieq, far-left, shares a platform with President Jokowi

    So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

    ======

    ….before Wednesday’s vote, were to make a JOINT declaration, making it clear that they want nothing to do with the FPI and/or its exiled (self-imposed exile, remember) ‘Grand Imam!’

    And pledge never to legitimise Rizieq’s extremism by sharing a platform or allowing him into their presence again.

    I am not in the habit of offering my Indonesian readers a fun day out with fanatical Islamists, but having seen this huge billboard at Slipi last week, it seemed churlish not to share with you the opportunity to savour the delights of a ‘Karnaval!’

    Next Indonesian V-P – Another General ‘Close To’ Fanatics?

    So Metrotvnews.com tells us that the National Democrat Party has begun to eye TNI Commander General Gatot Nurmantyo as a running-mate for President Jokowi in the next presidential election? The news item adds that Gatot is believed to be able to attract votes from Muslims, especially the Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).

    http://news.metrotvnews.com/politik/nbw36PRb-jokowi-gatot-diyakini-mampu-raup-suara-fpi

    It’s not unusual for high-ranking soldiers in many countries to look at politics as a suitable change of career.

    Think back to Eisenhower and De Gaulle.

    But after the shock many people got when Jokowi decided to share a platform with the FPI’s leader, Habib Rizieq, who openly asserted that Jakarta’s ex-governor Ahok should be put to death for ‘blasphemy…

    ====

    “We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.  http://www.suara.com/news/2016/10/14/134313/

    ========

    Rizieq, far-left, listens contentedly to Jokowi’s speech

    So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

    ============

    …when instead the President could have confronted that sectarian fanatic, it’s alarming that General Gatot’s alleged ability to win the approval of Rizieq’s thug-gang is seen as a big plus.

    -===

    =======

    “Close to the Islamic community, close to FPI, etc. It is good to fill the space…”  So says a political analyst with  Indonesia Political Review (IPR) who added that Gatot ”is also  close to the scholars!”

    When that word ‘scholars‘ is used here, it doesn’t just mean people who study a lot, or even a little!

    ====

    ======

    It refers to the MUI, the Indonesian Council of Scholars, a frequent source of outlandish intolerance, whose outbursts we’ve covered aplenty.

    • …...

    Who knows if this predicted pairing will come to pass?

    But what’s worrying is the alleged closeness of the country’s top officer with violent, lawless bigots.

    One hopes the assertion is unfounded.  General Gatot Nurmantyo has yet to issue any denial, so far as I know.

    Whatever, it is a matter of public interest, not least in the light of that exculpation of the white-shirt gang reported some months ago, from Indonesia’s top cop, General Tito Karnavian, who praised Rizieq!

    “He was very tolerant actually… FPI is an Islamic organization so very tolerant of other religions,” he added.

    Gambar terkait

    Video Viral, Tito Karnavian: FPI Ormas Islam yang Sangat Toleran

    That assessment of the gang and its leader parked a storm of protest.

    Many good Indonesians, including millions of Muslims, were and are dismayed at the very thought of the FPI or any sectarian cliques having friends in high places.

    But here in Indonesia, ever since President Jokowi chose to share a platform with Habib Rizieq, the FPI ‘High Priest,’ one is surely ill-advised to ignore their utterances, however bizarre.

    Rizieq, on the left, Jokowi, on the right

    So Has Indonesia Come To This? Paradise Lost?

    ============

    And they don’t come much more bizarre than the latest outburst from the white-shirt vigilante gang’s Purwakarta gauleiter, Muhammad Syahid Joban.

    ———

    Hasil gambar untuk joban fpi purwakarta

    FPI’s Syahid Joban

    =======

    It’s not exactly the first time that Islamist fanatics have shown signs of stress over matters relating to that provincial city.

    In 2011, a pack of sectarian louts went on a rampage of vandalism against various statues of legendary figures from the widely revered Ramayana pantheon…

    ==

    ………….

    Then in 2015, they got their (presumably white) knickers in a right twist about massive resistance to their activities by decent Muslims, when Rizieq’s appearance there had to be protected by police.

    Bravo, Purwakarta! IslamoNazis Cower Behind Cops – Again!

    0000

    This time that geezer Syahid was in a tizzy, railing at the popular and entertaining local regent, Dedy Mulyadi, because of a festival in the West Java city.

    “Never participate in the Jurig Festival,’ ranted Joban.

    Why?

    =

    Hasil gambar untuk jurig purwakarta

    Jurig parade

    ======

    Well, it seems the cultural festival has been outrageously focusing on culture, not religion.

    And one of the traditional carriages in the photo was allegedly used to bring a buffalo to a ‘polytheistic’ event. Joban was in the news last year, when he tweet-scolded Jokowi for having had the carriage to the National Palace!

    http://www.panjimas.com/news/2016/08/13/ulama-purwakarta-pak-jokowi-kenapa-anda-bawa-kereta-jurig-ini-ke-istana/

    Now the indefatigable extremist is yelping on the same cultural festival, again!

    ‘Religion comes first, then culture, not the other way about!’

    http://www.viva.co.id/berita/nasional/943299-fpi-sebut-festival-kebudayaan-purwakarta-cuma-bikin-gila

    =====

    Like, uh, why, we might be tempted to ask again!

    But not, perhaps, if we read the Viva.com article all the way through.

    It becomes clear that the white-shirts are still harping on their grudge against Dedy Mulyadi…

    Islamist Insanity – ‘He’s Married The Goddess of the South Seas!’

    …which we’ve noted in the past!

    The fanatics reckon Dedy nurtures hopes of becoming West Java’s Governor!

    ‘Don’t ever let that happen!’ says the Gauleiter, who wound up the rant by warning his fans not to fool around when it came time to choose regional leaders.

    “Otherwise, Purwakarta will become a ‘Devil City!'”

    ==

    Ooooh! Scary!

    Or….WOW!

    Such a transformation might promote a different brand of tourism from that our in-coming Jakarta Administration is said to be contemplating.

      The Arab culture is what the FPI like because they do not like Java culture.
      I remember we all were so angry when the fanaticals attack the statues and now it is time to be angry again because the FPI always make trouble.
      Better do to FPI what the government is saying about Hizbut Tharir.
      Ban.!!

      Happy to see some good old-fashioned fanatic-bashing again, Ross.
      I like your joke ( ? ) about tourism because those fanatics have no sense of humour so mockery is a good tactic against them.

      I dont know if Dedy is running for governor or not but West java could do a lot worse. It already is.

      I wish FPI can go live in Arab Saudi They always complain here in our country.
      If they think Indonesia so terrible for our good culture then it is better they live in country where they can be happy.
      Thank you, Ross. Have a nice day too.

      Why must culture not come first in culture fest?
      Religion come first in mosque or church and that is right.
      Culture is for all Purwakarta people with any religion.
      Java people all respect history and love legend of Java like with the statues and only FPI has problem with that.
      Nobody will make the FPI join the fest fun because we know FPI hate fun.
      Better they stay at home and be unhappy like they always are unless when they make trouble for people who like to be happy…

      These are same people who want to kill Ahok because his words give them bad temper.
      Also same people who hate religious freedom in Indonesia and same people attack warung in Ramadhan as you many times show foto in your blog.
      Also same FPI that say they want to kill Buddhis in Myanmar.
      I do not think the festival in Purwakarta is the the devil that make Indonesia feel scary.

      Every time i read that FPI hate Dedy Mulyadi I think more and more that Pak Dedy will be a wonderful Governor in West java.
      The real demon place in Indonesia is Aceh where they whip girls for nothing.
      I wish all FPI may go to Aceh and then Aceh people may rise up and free their province. I will be happier if President Jokowi may order FPI dissolve but I think he is not the man to do that.

    WOW! ‘Naked Woman…Sex Chats…Fabricated…Libellous?’

    The Jakarta Police have yet to name Islam Defenders Front (FPI) founder Rizieq Shihab a suspect in a pornography case, despite naming Firza Husein a suspect for purportedly sharing pornographic material in WhatsApp chats between her and Rizieq…

    The news here gets ever more intriguing!

    ….Rizieq ignored two police summons on April 25 and May 10. He was reported to be in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and now in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

    The Jakarta Police confirmed on Tuesday that Mr Rizieq, who has ignored several police summons for questioning over the alleged pornographic text conversation, was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

    =

    =

    Jakarta Police spokesman Senior Commander Argo Yuwono said the police had not decided whether they would send a team to Jeddah to bring Mr Rizieq back to Indonesia.

    Where’s ‘High Priest’ Rizieq? Pornography Case On Hold?

    We have recently had to feature Habib Rizieq, acclaimed as ‘High Priest’ of the IslamoNazi FPI 9 self-styled “Islam Defenders’ Front”) quite often…

    ….

    FPI demo in Jakarta

    …..

    ….due to his blood-curdling demand that Jakarta Governor Ahok, currently imprisoned for – believe it or not, in this 21st Century! – ‘blasphemy,’ (yes, seriously!) be processed for execution.

    “We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.  http://www.suara.com/news/2016/10/14/134313/

    =

    =====

    Rizieq, with his rabid hero, Ba’asyir, who’s currently doing time for terror-links

    ====

    Now we see he’s back in the headlines again.

    As a witness, Rizieq has twice evaded a police questioning for a pornography case allegedly involving him and a treason suspect, Firza Husein.

    The police first summoned Rizieq, Firza, Rizieq’s wife and a friend of Firza’s as witnesses on April 25. However, none of them showed up…the police summoned Rizieq again on May 8 for questioning scheduled on May 10.

    Oh dear!

    So what do the Police have to say?

    Argo confirmed that Rizieq was still abroad, but refused to inform reporters about the latter’s exact whereabouts.

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/05/12/police-to-detain-rizieq-for-evading-questioning-of-alleged-pornography-case.html

    REFUSED?

    Why won’t the cops reveal this mysterious absence?

    What’s the big secret?

    Where is he?

    Will Five MILLION Fanatics March This Friday! Jakarta Nightmare!

    A very big ‘IF’ – and it’s never wise to take anything emerging from an Islamist’s mouth at face value.

    But the prospect of five million slobbering bigots marching (or rather shuffling) through Jakarta tomorrow means at the very least a traffic nightmare, for Jakarta is always prone to congestion.

    —-

    ———

    Even a little bit of rain usually heralds delays.

    Or it could be worse!  Breaking News – Jakarta Cops Tear-Gas Islamist Louts!

    Over and above the impact on decent people trying to get about town on normal business, most Jakartans wil be appalled at the purpose of the sectarian shufflers.

    =

    Jakarta’s Governor Ahok

    —–

    “Ahok, the blasphemer of Islam, must be severely punished. Justice must be upheld.”

    http://jakartaglobe.id/news/organizers-of-505-rally-against-ahok-say-they-notified-police-on-tuesday/

    Odd turn of phrase, but then it’s a lawyer talking, and you know what I think of them, as a rule. This one’s called Kapitra Ampera, the source too of the ‘five million’ prediction.

    Maybe the reporter who spoke with him didn’t ask the obvious  questions, like :-

    Why should anyone be punished for saying what he thinks about Islam or any religion? What kind of justice is involved in this kind of witch-hunting? What level of ‘severity’ do the jihadist jerks think appropriate?

    We are well aware of one fanatic’s views on this matter.  We’ve often quoted Habib Rizieq, Grand Imam of the self-styled Islam Defenders’ Front (FPI) so we’ll do so again, just in case you missed it.

    =

    “We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.  http://www.suara.com/news/2016/10/14/134313/

    ==

    The prosecutors in the court where Ahok has been undergoing the weird ‘blasphemy’ inquisition only want probation. So there’s no chance the good governor will be sentenced to death, or any other barbaric shariah punishment.

    But no doubt we’ll see and hear plenty of pig-ignorant savages howling for horrible penalties to be imposed, in a blatant bid to influence the court.

    I hope it rains torrentially and that thousands of them ( it won’t be five million – that’s half the adult population, and some people in the capital actually have honest jobs to go to!) catch the flu.

      Flu?
      One of those biblical plagues would be better.
      I used to think it was a passing phase but I am losing faith.
      It makes me angry, something I dont get very often.
