Just ready to relax on the sofa for watching TV, a most eye-catching show, featuring the choice of Miss Indonesia.
Look at the Chairwoman of the Miss Indonesia Organization, below –
——————-

Liliana Tanoesoedibjo
——
A pretty lady? Understatement, I suppose, but there are so many here in Indonesia.
But she has become the target of Islamist loudmouths, accused of ‘not caring about the nation’s morality.’ Rather than morality, I tend to think it’s Liliana’s perceptive description of misogynistic ranters as ‘barking dogs‘ that got right up the rabid noses.

ooooooooooooooooooooooo

———
And how about Ratna Nurlia Alfiandini, one of the causes of the benighted white-shirt gang’s indignation.
Ain’t she lovely?
Ratna was a contestant, Aceh’s representative in the Miss Indonesia contest, and here’s the current one, Jeyskia Ayunda Sembiring.
=======
—
Beautiful, indeed, but not atypical of women here, long black glossy hair, leggy lissom figure – many of the lovelies I see behind supermarket cashiers’ counters could well be entrants too.
But the two girls above were chosen to represent Aceh, and that has not gone down well with the sectarian bigots who infest that sorry place.
Aceh is the only part of Indonesia where shariah law is enforced, and best avoided by civilised human beings.
–

The Sharia Hell of Aceh!
–
And while there are degrees of fanaticism among shariah’s supporters, it’s probably fair to say that the FPI ( self-styled ‘Defenders of Islam’) are as bad as it gets.
So needless to say, they’re incensed that there’s a participant from there in the contest.
And they’re playing on the fact that, although Ratna and Jeyskia are of Acehnese stock, they were born elsewhere in Indonesia. It’s a bit like if Taffy and Morwen Rhys move from Cardiff to London and have a daughter who grows up to be a beauty, she could be picked as Miss Wales.
Arguable, I suppose, but none of the fuss would likely have erupted if the two Miss Aceh gals had not competed without shrouding their good looks in the scarf of subjugation.
Tengku Mustafa Husen Woyla, FPI’s spokesman in Aceh, is beside himself. Liliana is shameless and has no business ethics – that’s his riposte to her ‘canine’ comment.

Mustafa Woyla, of FPI Aceh
- ———————————————————————
IMMORAL?
Yeah, that’s what he said! The hatred of beauty among Islamists was well-documented when Miss World came here not long ago.
————-

And now this nasty wants to drag delightful ladies into court!
“FPI urges the Aceh government to prosecute the illegal contestants who have tarnished the good name of the Veranda of Mecca. This is a serious problem. If there is no response, we (FPI) will take legal action to sue the organizers and contestants on behalf of Aceh…”
But what really rankles, seemingly, is that Jeyskia has gone on record with the undoubtedly true statement that women in Aceh are not identical with the scarf.
Well, hell, of course they’re not. If they were, the backward bigots wouldn’t need a shariah goon-squad to back up their oppressive war on women.
–
Wilayatul Hisbah, the shariah goon-squad
–
They wouldn’t need to send trucks around the towns to harass and detain women who dress like women rather than like sacks of Idaho potatoes.
Of course Wolya’s not on his own in this offensive chattering.
Vice Chairman of the MPU Aceh, Tgk H Faisal Ali, is also in a stew. The MPU represents ‘scholars’ up there. Another of their clique got into our blog a few years ago…
..,so no surprise they are on the sectarian band-wagon. But what about the NU, supposedly the biggest ‘moderate’ Muslim organisation in Indonesia.
Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Aceh – ‘the appearance of women referred to as Miss Aceh in the event did not reflect that Aceh applies Sharia law..“Therefore, we assume, the relevant participation in Miss Indonesia has made a defamation of Aceh, which is nicknamed the Veranda of Mecca…,” he said. http://aceh.tribunnews.com/2015/02/18/ulama-minta-gubernur-panggil-miss-aceh
Most ‘moderate’ – but then he and the MPU spokesman are one and the same person!
Actually, chronic kill-joyism among ‘scholars’ in Indonesia isn’t confined to Aceh. The same sort of stuff and nonsense can be heard in Jakarta…

- Welya Safiri of the state-sponsored MUI – I reckon I prefer Jeyskia!
- ———————-
…but at least it’s not provincial law here. Earlier today, I timed my lunch at the warteg to coincide with office-workers’ noontide break. Not ONE of the dozen or so pretty young ladies there was bescarved!
Inevitably, the provincial regime itself is aboard the Good Ship Shariah too.
—————————

- ————-
- Head of Public Relations Aceh district secretary Dr Mahyuzar in Banda Aceh on Monday that …the appearance of Jeyskia, who does not wear a scarf, does not reflect the culture and is inconsistent with the application of Islamic law in Aceh…she “is not a representation of the people of Aceh,” said Mahyuzar.

Noreen you are wise to say that.
Here in Indonesia too we have very bad movements who would force women to wear hijab all the time.
We do not want to become like Iran.

Mogherini and Bishop and those Swede women should be shut out of public life for their betrayal of decent Irani women who won’t submit to sharia sexist bullying.
