Happy Ascension Day! But Don’t Forget Tambun Terror!

It’s Ascension Day, a public holiday here in Indonesia, and I’m waiting for a welcome visitor.

The sun is shining outdoors, and I hope my Indonesian readers of all creeds enjoy their day off work.

    BUT…

DON’T FORGET the Christians of Tambun, Bekasi, West Java, who are still unable to worship in peace at their own church, whence they were driven six years ago by filthy savages who pelted them with bags of urine and faeces…

“They assaulted the congregation members,” Rev. Palti Panjaitan told the Jakarta Globe on Thursday. “Police tried to talk to them, but the mob passed through police and showered us with urine and dirty water. Others threw stones at us.”
The mob reportedly attacked the congregation as the service started, and also shouted profanity and threats.

“Even after the service, which lasted one-and-a-half hours, the mob chased after us,” Rev. Palti said.

…and who STILL, all these years later, worship in the street, across the road from President Jokowi’s Palace here in Jakarta.

Still There! Oppressed Christians Swelter In Jakarta!

So they will be in town today, or maybe Sunday, and while we we relax or gallivant, let’s not forget them.

I remember this because how can we forget.
You are right to say they are savages, good way to call them.
I wish you a happy holiday to Ross and I have another story for you that I will send soon.

A happy Ascension Day to you Ross.
Congratulations on the reminder for the Batak church in Tambun too.
The crime done that day by mean people who hate Christians must never be forgotten and I hope they always fight to get back into their church, same like GKI Yasmin and the other churches persecuted.

I wish President Jokowi will do something like use police to make Bogor obey Supreme Court that ordered the Yasmin church open.
Possibly wishing and hoping are not enough so let us continue praying for religious liberty in Indonesia..

It is a holy day and a holiday so we should all be happy even people who are not very holy.

It is important in this time to think about what the Islamist did in Bekasi because they get more powerful all the time under this government.
Nice to disolve Hizbut Tahrir but better to ban all the violent gangs too like the FPI.

      Never forget.
When we see something so terrible we cannot forget how shamed it makes us to be part of the same country as the criminals not stopped by the police.
It is same like we feel when we see the murders in Cikeusik that also the police did not stop.
People in every church today should pray for the HKBP to worship again in Tambun but I am sorry that I cannot forgive the Islamist terror mob except if they repent and say sorry and help build back the church for the Christian people.

Not likely any of us in Jakarta at the time would forget, though some high-ups here would like us to.
I see no sign the authorities now would behave any different if the same kind of thing happened again.

I see you welcome the action against Hizbut Tahrir and so will most. Until the government does something similar to the whit-shirt gang whose photo you have in the previous post, I am still keeping a bag packed.

Xmas On Street For Victims of Indonesia’s Islamists

Even a God-awful newspaper can sometimes do something good.

That was my reaction when I saw that the Jakarta Post had reported on the Sunday service opposite President Jokowi’s Palace downtown, held by two congregations that have suffered and are still suffering persecution by the nastiest Islamist bigots in the land.

Churches hold public service as reminder of their struggle

    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2016/08/14/churches-hold-public-service-as-reminder-of-their-struggle.html

Mind you, as far as I know, these oppressed Christians hold such protest services every second Sunday, so while the JP’s interest is welcome, it’s a pity they don’t report on the shameful state of affairs on a twice-monthly basis.

That report at the top of our page was published way back, several months ago. The oppressed Christians were there again today – I was in town but saw no sign of them, only to get home at 1.30pm and see on the internet that they planned a 2pm kick-off.

    aprayerbogor

The churches concerned, GKI Yasmin and HKBP Filadelfia, are denied access to their places of worship by a combination of brutal fanatic gangs and local governments which either lack the guts to stand up for religious liberty or are in cahoots with the vilest jihadist elements.

Bekasi’s Islamist Regime – ‘We Won’t Allow Religious Liberty If Bigot Thugs Object!’

That report concerns Bekasi, one such local authority, but another, Bogor, also in West Java, right next door to Jakarta, has recently shown its continuing contempt for civil and religious liberty…

Bigoted Bogor – City Seeks IslamoNazi Link-Up!

…and its mayor, once described, in all seriousness, as a ‘moderate’ Muslim, has shown himself every bit as coldly indifferent to the rights of these poor Christians as his avowedly Islamist predecessor who kicked off their oppression years ago.

X-Rated Xmas – Foul-Mouths Bully Christians, As ‘Moderate’Mayor Denies They Exist!’

As for the other church, HKBP in Tambun, our reports on what they’ve had to go through in recent years are horrific to read.

Nor was that the only occasion these peaceful Protestants faced that sort of stinking barrage from a stinking rabble!

    • Head-Scarfed Harpies Hurl Dung and Urine at Christians

    • But while IslamoNazi thugs and benighted local local bigwigs are deplorable, what’s most distressing, perhaps, is the national government’s failure to enforce the law – in GKI Yasmin’s case, a ruling from the highest court in the archipelago.

    • President SBY’s indifference to their plight was perhaps unsurprising, but I’m sure everyone who voted for Jokowi believed he was genuinely committed to the religious pluralism which was bequeathed to Indonesia by the nation’s founding fathers.

Kenapa, Pak Presiden? GKI Yasmin Masih Disegel!

I haven’t been to Monas Square for a while, not sung a hymn since Easter!

Easter in Jakarta – No ‘Islamophobia’ Among Persecuted Christians!

Yesterday I went way down south, to Pejaten Village Mall, a pleasant outing, to meet up, one after the other, with a young friend and an older one.
Always good to keep in touch.

First weekend in June – Jokowi’s Palace in the background, as victims of intolerance are forced to worship on the public street
    ————————
But this very weekend, back up  by Monas, across the road from President Jokowi’s Palace, I’m told the persecuted Christians were once more at worship out in the hot sun, the GKI congregation from Bogor still barred by nasty Islamist bigots from their church – and the HKBP church from Tambun, Bekasi, in a similar plight.
    ===
    c7c47-shame===
There is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for this. We’ve reported again and again on the Supreme Court ruling which neither President SBY nor his successor, Jokowi, have seen fit to enforce.
    ————————–
So many Indonesian friends of freedom, of every creed,  rejoiced when Jokowi won that close election.
    =

They believed his commitment to religious liberty would result in the police being ordered in, not, as before, to act as referees between those Christians and the sectarian louts who hate them, but to fulfil their duty and open up the church for its congregation to enter and worship freely.

Instead the thug gangs, GARIS etc, against whom brave Muslims like old Lily Wahid stood up despite crass intimidation, appear to have got their way. The self-styled ‘pluralist’ Mayor who replaced the overtly bigoted mayor in Bogor, is playing the same game, even denying the existence of the Yasmin congregation.

Will Jokowi some Sunday soon come out of his palace, walk across the street and tell these victims of evil that he will have their churches re-opened…or will the darkness continue to spread across Indonesia.
