C’mon, Erdolf, Send Me An UMLAUT!
Türkiye ?

A multitude of media tell us that Erdolf, the Turk Islamist tyrant…
“The mosques are our barracks, the domes our helmets, the minarets our bayonets and the faithful our soldiers
…has demanded that the land he lords it over, Turkey, must now be differently described, as above.
Many of those media says the new name is Turkiye, but a few got it right.
Türkiye
Those two wee dots above the ‘u’ are an integral part of the name.
In the German language those dots are called the umlaut, and in German, they change the pronunciation of the vowel they are placed above.
‘U’ is no long ‘ooo’ but ‘yoo,’ for example.
That’s an approximation. Please offer alternative nasals if you’re a linguist.
There’s no need for the change.
We don’t call Italy ‘Italia,’ do we, just because Italians do?
It’s not unique.
There’s a country we always called Bengal, which insists it’s Bangla Desh, which just means Bengal Land.
But we go along with it.
However, I often write about Erdolf’s fiefdom….
Erdolf’s Shadow Looms Over Europe!
