Jakarta Besok? Stay Home Monday 11/4

Besok just means ‘tomorrow’ and I won’t be going into town, for sure.

Some 10,000 students are planning a big demonstration, and while, unlike some other demos we’ve noticed….

    Another Fanatic Friday? Avoid Downtown!

…their various causes are not unpleasing, it’ll still screw up traffic, and the TransJakarta buses will still be detoured.

    .

    ..

I will let you read of their demands via the link below, but one –

‘…the fourth demand, urges and demands that Jokowi thoroughly investigate the cooking oil mafia and evaluate the performance of the relevant ministers…”

    https://amp.kompas.com/megapolitan/read/2022/04/09/11501161/jelang-demo-11-april-1000-mahasiswa-siap-turun-dan-ancaman-pembubaran

That will command huge support among millions of citizens who would normally take little interest in student activity.

    Here’s an explanatory extra.

Far from Ukraine, Indonesia’s poor can’t get cooking oil

Indonesia is facing shortages as the Ukraine war and other factors send palm oil prices soaring.

Jakarta Fanatics – Push, Shove, Shuffle Off!

Well, a bit of a damp squib, last Friday’s fanatic demo, as the cops kept the mob in line  – so traffic disruption was minimal.

Some of the rabble element began pushing and shoving, trying to reach President Jokowi’s State Palace, but having failed to break through, they heeded their leaders and toddled off home.

It’s also interesting to note there was a message relayed to the crowd, from guess who….

    ….Rizieq!
    ..

    • Jakarta Governor candidate Anies Baswedan wins an adoring smile from ferocious FPI ‘grand imam,’ Habib Rizieq, who had suggested the Christian Governor Ahok be slain for unacceptably quoting some Koranic verse –.“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.

The Fanatic Returns! Indonesian “Scholar” Offers Warm Welcome!

    The Fanatic!

Rizieq, once ‘high priest’ of the now-banned vigilante gang, the self-styled Islam Defenders Front, the FPI, has, you may recall, his own ( unfortunately not unique!) ideas on ‘blasphemers.. ‘

But skip that, and note also that his abhorrent son-in-law showed up, another person we have written about.

Reuni 212, Habib Hanif Ajak Kibarkan Jutaan Bendera Tauhid dan Merah Putih

    Habib Muhammad Hanif Al-Athos.

“Never mind, I don’t care. The virtual world says the young person was a  terrorist, I don’t care what they say, Brother….we are Muslims, the young person is a hero, Brother. Allahu akbar, that’s right,” shouted Habib Hanif. https://news.detik.com/berita/d-5238100/mantu-habib-rizieq-sebut-bocah-pelaku-pemenggalan-di-prancis-pahlawan

Brutal Paris Beheader A ‘Hero,’ Says Jakarta Fanatic!

Al Athos has apparently been declared leader of a new FPI – Front Persaudaraan Islam – Islamic Brotherhood Front!

That’s really thumbing his nose at the government.

It’ll be fascinating to see how the government reacts.

Another Jakarta Demo – By Nice Polite Muslims!

The Jajaka Nusantara masses hold a peaceful demonstration in front of the Indian Embassy
     Jajaka Nusantara’s peaceful demo
    000000

…and according to detik. com, they represented the Jawara Jaga Kampung, from Bekasi, one of Jakarta’s satellite cities, where, coincidentally, I lived for about 2 or 3 years, ages ago.

These Muslims could not have been more different in their approach, no weird ranting about any ‘Indian Devil!’

The demonstrators actually brought along a cow effigy, to show their respect for the animal revered by Hindus.

These Indonesian Muslims may have much the same concerns, about how their co-religionists are treated in India as those characters we wrote about 24 hours ago…

    .

    .

….but the demo coordinator, Aboy Maulana, made it clear they were in no way connected to the PA 212 mob.

    https://news.detik.com/berita/d-5958460/bawa-sapi-jajaka-nusantara-demo-di-kedubes-india-jaksel/amp

Good on those Muslim guys who brought the cow to town.

They are a credit to their creed!

Jakarta Selasa? Just Stay At Home!

Jakarta’s Governor Anies Baswedan is not unfamiliar with the rabid sectarian fanatics who call themselves the Islam Defenders Front (FPI)….

    .

    • Anies wins an adoring smile from ferocious FPI ‘grand imam, Habib Rizieq, who had recently suggested the Christian Governor Ahok be slain for unacceptably quoting some Koranic verse –.“We encourage the government to process the death penalty for Ahok as soon as possible,” said Rizieq.
    • ….

….but he may have mixed feelings about their latest move.

Along with a clutch of other Islamist extremist bodies, including the notorious PA 212…

… whose ‘marchers’ so proudly showed off their civic conscience during the campaign (alas successful) to have Anies’ Christian predecessor Ahok jailed for ‘blasphemy…’

    .

Ahok, now thankfully out of jail

    Slouching Towards Shariah

    ……..

….the FPI are taking to the streets of Indonesia’s capital tomorrow, motivated, so they claim, by the same anger that drove last Friday’s demo, namely the passage of the labor reform law.

    .

You may wonder why I wouldn’t join a demo organised by something calling itself the ‘National Anti-Communist Alliance,’ as there’s nobody more hostile to marxism than I am.

Let’s just say, when it comes to whom I march with, I’m a tad picky. And besides, I respect and applaud Indonesian law, that forbids non-Indonesians interfering in the country’s internal affairs.

That demo last Friday turned into mayhem, millions of dollars worth of damage done and hundreds, or thousands, detained by police.

Portland Indonesia? Thugs Stone Cops! Black-Clad Louts!

    .

At least 11 Transjakarta bus stations were ransacked by the protestors, with the one near Hotel Indonesia roundabout burned down to the ground.

There is every reason to believe that demo was infiltrated by undesirables, maybe Antifa Red Nazis, or paid criminals or….who knows?

We await more details on who organised that!

    Meanwhile…

Given how the FPI have displayed ferocious blood-lust in previous demos..

    .

    .

…methinks Governor Anies, and the rest of us, will be hoping for no action replays.

As for me, with the relaxation of the virus rules, I was contemplating a trip into town…

    ..

…but a trifle uncertain, as the busways were targetted for vandalism by the rabble last week and I’m not sure if all the routes are running.

    ….
Now, however, I have made up my mind.

Given a choice of navigating streets a-swarm with a fanatic mob, or not?

    Easy decision!

    Just stay home!

Much better to be bored than to be attacked or be in between rioters and police.

Against ‘Violence And Killing?’ Getting Real in Jakarta!

And I’m off out today, just hanging out the washing first, in hopes the Jakarta sunshine isn’t replaced by rain!

Well, that HMI – the Indonesian Muslim Students’ Association – can demo all they like, though one has to hope they don’t cause more traffic chaos.

But since they say they are trying to make a point about violence and killing…

Why are they including the IslamoNazi FPI in their action?

That FPI’s attitude to violence and killing has been made very clear…

      Ross!
You missed a chance to talk about the Jakarta Post’s poor English grammar. I followed the link and see that they need to be taught that ‘prohibit from doing’ is how we speak, not ‘prohibit to do.’
I know my own grammar is not that good, but you expect journalists to have studied English.

Breaking News – Jakarta Cops Tear-Gas Islamist Louts!

Night fell here in Jakarta, as the 6pm ‘time-up’ deadline set by police passed.

The sectarian horde should have been heading homewards after their ‘Long March.’

Instead, a pack of Islamist louts ran amok. The police were obliged to use tear-gas after coming under attack by the rabble.

Initial reports say three cops have been injured.

    Poor cops.

I quite liked your previous post, a day in the life, with all those bits about what so many of them have done over the years..
But this little riot was what i expected and I think you did too, Ross.
      They just can’t be appeased.

Islamist ‘Scholar’ – Red/Jew Plot Behind Jakarta Demo?

    Oh Wow!

I’d forgotten all about Pak Rafani Achyar, West Java chief of the MUI, the Indonesian Ulema Council – that’s the Council of Indonesian ‘Scholars.’

    —————————

    • fatwa mui sholeh
    • —————-
    • He’s saying his members shouldn’t join the fanatic parade in Jakarta this Friday, at least not if they’re wearing MUI paraphernalia.

Half-Million Fanatics Descending On Jakarta? Peacefully!?!

    Good, I hear you say?

Well, it might be, if we weren’t aware of his loathing for religious tolerance, exemplified by comments he made a while back about the inoffensive Ahmadi minority, citing the case of the Ahmadiyah, who are not dealt with even when their offense is very real and clear.

Rafani Rants Again – Islamist Witch-Hunts in West Java

    ===================

    • Rafani MUI’s Rafani

But we’ve not heard much about him since his famous rage against a VERY sexy woman – whom I wrongly identified as Miss World, when in fact she was Miss Universe!

In fact he expanded his rant then to encompass a whole lot of very sexy women!

    ——–

    Not Sharia-Compliant?

    ooooooooooooooooooooo

‘Ban Miss World!’ say Kill-Joy Clerics. Why? ‘She Ain’t Sharia Compliant!’

Besides Inul, Dewi and Jupe, MUI West Java branch secretary general Rafani Achyar said he wanted to ban Anisa Bahar, Uut Permatasari, Ira Swara, Nita Thalia and the group Trio Macan. Trio Macan

Trio Macan, yummy dangdut singers, like the others named above

    • One might feel sorry for the poor geezer, abhorring gorgeous girls, but now he’s zooming down loopy lane at high speed.
    • He suspects that Communists and even Jews were confusing and provoking Muslims to lead then into excessive actions.

Is this guy going to republish ‘The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion?’

I am really intrigued by the goings-on in the place you live.
I did spend some time in South East Asia but must of led a sheltered life or where I was just didn’t have all the nutty characters you write about.
SInce reading this an hour ago, I have been trying to find any other English language coverage of Mr. Ranfani’s stunning Zionist-Bolshevik conspiracy theory but so far not been able to.
However, I looked at the link and used Google Translate to see what it said so I know you’re not making it up. Are ALL these ‘scholars’ as downright peculiar as him?
Please keep this stuff coming. It’s an eye-opener.
