Good News From Blok M – JCO Is Back!

I do not get down to Blok M much these days, as the are has lost much of its magic, but last week I nipped into Blok M Plaza…

…to shop in Giant Express supermarket, which BTW had a lot of good discounts.

What should I see, not quite exactly in its previous location, but near enough?

Yes, a brand-new, bright and shiny JCO coffee shop…

…just opposite the mall’s Starbucks outlet, too, so I hope all right-thinking people will get their caffeine fix at JCO, where the prices seem to be more appealing, and the taste at least as good as those in its rival…

Of Carrefour, Cat-Food And Afternoon Coffee…

Awaiting the return of almost all the people I like to hang out with, I got bored yesterday and went to Puri Indah mall, a spot of shopping and a coffee ( with free donut) at JCO.

The coffee is at least every bit as good as Starbucks, and in my opinion better. Of the three JCOs I most often frequent, Semanggi and PIM being the other two…Gambar terkait

…I’d say the Puri one is my fave, as it’s in a prime position for people-watching.

However, the highlight of my arvo outing was the discovery that the adjacent Carrefour superstore has finally adopted the logical and rational change I have long advocated.

Pet-food is now relocated from its previous daft proximity to garden tools and furniture to a spot hard by human food-stuffs.

My 17-year-old kucing kampung is versatile enough, I suppose…

…but it has never occurred to me to use her to trim foliage or sit on whilst sun-bathing – though she does look comfortable, does she not?

YetCarrefour isn’t the only supermart I’ve found making such bizarre arrangements for the goodies we give our four-legged friends.
Since my pals are not due back in town till mid-next-week, there’s time for me to carry out a reconnaissance mission or two.

You are happy that catfood is now close to human food.
      Me too.
It is much easier to shop for all meals in one part.
I wish even so for the big stores not always to move everything around.
It is very annoying when you go to one corner for coffee or tea or sugar or some goods and find it is moved to a different area.

I see you are at a very loose end over the long holiday, Ross.
But yes it is a puzzle why the petfood is very often positioned beside the garden chairs etc.
Do Western stores do the same or is it just another peculiarity of our beloved Indonesia?
Before you ask, yes I am at a loose end too or I wouldnt be commenting on this at all.

I try to avoid shopping but asked somebody who likes it and she says that here in Australia too they stick the catfood etc beside things like batteries and car gadgets and yes garden shears!
I can see no reason why because food is food.
Do they think near-sighted shoppers will mistake a can of kitty meat for a can of beans?
