    Hebdo Attack? Allons, French Cops! Use Those Knees!

    Another monstrous attack in Paris, near the Charlie Hebdo offices, where the true evil of Islamist intolerance was made as clear as day just a few years ago!

    .

    .

    Only pig-ignorant savages think that ‘blasphemy’ deserves death.

    But terrorism does!

    Only a few days ago, the BBC informed us that it was the anniversary of the foolish day that saw the abolition of the guillotine, the end of capital punishment in France.

    [

    [

    So if the perpetrator/s of this latest atrocity are caught and tried and convicted, no true justice can be done via the courts.

    What we really need to see are knees!

    Sturdy French cop knees!

    ‘Fesyen Modest!’ That Offensive ‘Modest’ Label Hits Jakarta!

    Remember Suryadharma Ali, President SBY’s Minister of Religious Affairs…

    =

    Ali1

    =

    ….and one of the most intolerant Islamists in Indonesia?

    =

    =

    We used to feature him regularly on this blog, his outlandish bigoted outbursts against harmless minorities…

    ========

    Good Indonesians Denounce ArchBigot Ali’s Latest Intolerant Outburst

    But aside from his nasty prejudices against Muslims who dissented from his own dogmatic doctrines, he could make people laugh too, with odd-ball rants like this – viz.

    The Beat, Jakarta, 29th March 2012 –  Indonesia’s powerful Religious Affairs minister, Suryadharma Ali, has declared that miniskirts are pornographic and should be banned under tough new anti-porn laws.

    Appointed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono earlier this month to run the new task force into pornography, Ali told reporters in Jakarta yesterday that a set of universal criteria must be decided. He added that, “one criteria will be when anyone is wearing a skirt above the knee.”

    -####################################

    Any normal person who reads such hogwash would laugh, because there is obviously nothing ‘pornographic’ about miniskirts, and in any event a lot of skirts that reveal knees are NOT miniskirts!

    But although such drivel is not heard from the current Religion Minister, who tends to be fairly rational in his statements, his predecessor’s offensive mind-set seems to be alive and well in today’s Jakarta.

      Very much agree!
      Nice work, Ross. I wish more people called out this so-called ‘modesty’ for the mis-label it is.

      My colleagues in Jakarta ( Indonesian and Muslim all ) never wear jilbabs and seldom wear skirts down to their ankles.
      But they are all decent respectable women and if anybody said they wern’t they would get told off faster than a speeding bullet.
      The way these exhibitions are called ‘Modest Wear’ is an insult to all normal women all over the world who are not ashamed of their ankles, knees, calves and hair.
      It is good to hear a voice raised against the arrogance of the Arabization of Indonesia.

      The women I work with and the women in my house are 100% polite, modest and well-behaved but they are not hung up on covering up their heads or their knees.
      If these women want to dress like they do that is ok by me but calling it Modest Wear is just a put-down against women who do not.
      Suryadharma Ali would love the fesyen modest because it is propaganda for his style of religious fanatic beliefs.

      It is a big insult to us for them to say the arab clothes are modest like if our normal Indonesia dress and skirt are not.

    Fear And Loathing of Knees In MaIaysia, Truly Arabia!

    I’m certainly not a fan of AirAsia, and won’t be until they stop trying to coerce passengers into eating their over-priced meals.

    =

    My home-made specialty -bacon and fried egg sandwiches!

    =

    It’s the height of arrogance to seek to confiscate any customer’s private property (i.e. sandwiches) before  allowing them the privilege of boarding their scheduled flight  – after all, they have paid hefty sums for valid tickets.

    However, needs must, and there’s a need to defend that airline’s stewardesses from sad-sack kill-joys in Malaysia’s legislature.

    Malaysia is  increasingly a country one wishes to avoid…

    Malaysia – Aged Scholar Hauled to Bigot Court

    Malaysia, Truly Arabia! Intolerance Rules Kuala Lumpur Court!

    …but most of the stories reported previously, like those in the above links, are of shocking sectarianism.

    Today’s, in contrast, is just ludicrous, but albeit with rather unwholesome overtones.

    ==================

    Abdullah Mat Yasim

    =

    I refer to the likes of Senator Abdullah Mat Yasim, who is a stalwart of the government party, UMNO.

    He has declared in Parliament that the fitted attire of AirAsia’s and Firefly’s female flight attendants can “arouse passengers..”

    What a pathetic old geezer, you say, as I do!

    But in that delightful photo, he doesn’t look THAT old, so how come he’s such a curmudgeon?

    =========

    ========

    One of the few agreeable aspects of air travel is the fact that ( except for Qantas, which seems unable to hire young sexy women ) the average air hostess is fairly yummy.

    Certainly, admiring them as they shimmy along back and forth does assuage nervousness among passengers who fear flying.

    And for sure it helps pass what is usually a tedious time in the air.

    =======

    Behold the proof of what I write.

    Above, Air Asia girls, visual delights all, and below, some Firefly lasses, busy but equally easy on the eye, I hope you’d agree.  Actually, I’d never heard of Firefly, till yesterday, but no matter.

    —————

    Poor old wowser Abdullah – what’s wrong with his uptight outlook on life that he can disapprove of those girls’ outfits?

    Nothing remotely naughty about them, unless one doesn’t like shapely females.

    Perhaps he’s one of the nutjob sort, the sorry sorts who think women should only venture out of doors looking like the Michelin Man..

    …as illustrated in the infamous poster below?

    =====

    ‘fathers and husbands, their private parts are your responsibility!’

    =

    Aaah, but there’s one airline whose stewardesses do merit Abdullah’s approval, more or less.

    …the flight attendant uniforms of Malindo Air, a Malaysian-Indonesian budget carrier, were “acceptable….”

    More or less, I observe, because Ole Grumplestiltskin had to add that the uniforms are also body hugging but at least the “sensitive areas” are covered

    The clear implication of Abdullah’s asinine observation is that ‘sensitive areas’ of the AirAsia and Firefly girls above are UNcovered.

    Like, which sensitive areas are uncovered? Their faces? Their hands? Their hair?

    OR…have we stumbled on another case of…

    ‘Knee-ophobia?’

     In Sumatra, Knee-ophobia Rules! No Knees is GOOD Knees

    ==================

    No knees to be seen on Malindo!

    Pretty ladies, but over-dressed, one could argue!

    ======

    In case you reckon they broke the mould after Abdullah was created, get this!

    Abdullah was praised by the assembly’s deputy president Abdul Halim Abd Samad for highlighting the issue. “This is a good topic that many people can relate to as they always take flights

    And there’s another strange man been haranguing the senators, Megat Zulkarnain Omardin, who suggested that the airlines redesign the uniforms.

    =====

    Hasil gambar untuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin

    ======

    “My wife is worried whenever I fly alone on Malindo or AirAsia,” said Megat…”This is a real hassle for me,” he said, drawing laughter from other members of the Dewan Negara or Upper House of Parliament.

    Odd as a nine dollar bill!

    AND ANOTHER, the week before, Senator Hanafi Mamat from Kelantan, who came right out and confessed his sectarian motivation,  claiming attendants should wear “syariah-compliant” uniforms as Malaysia is an Islamic country.

    But what about the large non-Muslim minorities? Will Catholic, Protestant, Hindu and Buddhist attendants be allowed to dress like normal women, and will Hanafi’s “syariah-compliant” uniforms look like this…

    ..

    ….to ensure normal blokes will still want to use the airlines?

    All interesting questions, but how sad that such rubbish is even aired in a place meant for discussion of serious issues!

    Listen to Hanafi’s hogwash…

    Tourists might get the wrong impression of Malaysia if flight stewardesses dress up “sexily and disrespectfully!”

    Disrespectful to whom?

    Since when is being sexy the same as being disrespectful?

    But while we may shed a tear for Malaysia, it’s not the only country that is getting totally screwy about the babes in the skies.

    My own preference for the ideal air hostess outfit would be that worn by Zuhal Sengul, in this photo below…

      I had to trawl back to find this you wrote a year and a half ago, after just hearing on the news that Branson has told his air hostesses they can wear trousers if they like, and no make-up.
      If the girls can stop being forced to look really sexy, will Bransom let them look more sexy if they like, micro-minis and fish-net tights?
      Any airline tries that, I will fly anywhere with them.

    Aurat OK – The Moronic Malaysian War On Women!

    Just got onto my second cup of black coffee and opened up the morning news – now I wish I’d postponed that morning chore.

    A young woman has been barred by some bone-head security goon in KL  from entering a hospital because her shorts did not extend below knee-level.

    =================

    ———————–

    • The hospital, exposed to international ridicule and contempt for the outrageous bigot ban, has since apologised, but the imbecilic ‘aurat’ interdiction is no one-off.

    On Monday, two women, a journalist and Selangor resident, were forced to wear sarongs to enter the Selangor State Secretariat building.

    In another incident on June 8, a woman was denied entry into the Gombak Road Transport Department (JPJ) office for wearing a skirt above her knee and was asked to wear a sarong for service.

    This offensive ‘aurat’ drivel has erupted only a week after that lovely Malaysian athlete was denounced by Dark Agers for dressing sensibly – and attractively – whilst competing in her sport.

    What’s wrong with knees? Or thighs, for that matter?

    I went over to a Jakarta mall yesterday and was agreeably distracted from  my coffee and the book I was browsing by the passing displays of both.

    I’ve been to KL and saw much the same there – in both cities, there are plenty of healthy normal people, but alas, plenty of narrow minds too, who think their uptight prejudices give them the right to decree dress codes.

      That poster you show us says it all. The morons do treat women like chattels. Husbands and fathers telling them what to wear.
      I’m a father and i stopped doing that when mine were old enough to vote. And in most normal countries, it’s usually the wife who says ‘you can’t go to the shops looking like that.’

      Bu tit’s no joke really, because lots of these morons are emigrating to countries where women have rights, and the morons think they can bring their moron (im)morals along with them.
      If they would join the rest of us in the twentyfirst century, or anywhere after the Middle Ages, there would be fewer objections to them joining us in Europe.
      But as things stand, the men are basicially subhuman and their women hopeless wimps for putting up with it.

    His successor as Minister, Lukman, from the same ‘Islamic’ United Development Party, the PPP, has in his first few months in office, shown a seriously sane, refreshing approach to the job, breaking bread with members of persecuted minorities like the Shia and Ahmadiyah.

    Now a party spokesman has said ‘we will report him to the police [for occupying the office]…I regret the occupation of the office, which is an act of thuggery, which is apparently the way Suryadharma prefers to solve the conflict. He called the meeting last night illegal, but his claimed position as chairman is also illegal.”   http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/news/ppp-chairman-suryadharma-refuses-step-office-occupied/

    As I recall this oleaginous individual gloating over religious minority citizens submitting to (of course entirely voluntary!) ‘conversion’  – or ‘repentance,’ as the nasty bigots here call it, as if choosing alternative ways of worshipping God Almighty is a sin  – I can only savour the prospect of the cops dragging him out.

    But will he maintain his recalcitrant pose long enough for that to come to pass?
