    Child-Marriage And Indonesia’s “Scholars!”

We have often had to comment on the words and actions of the MUI….

Death To Corruptors, MUI? Why Not Terrorists?

    …Indonesia’s Council of ‘Scholars’ – a state-subsidised body.

They are not backward about coming forward with opinions on just about anything…

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

“If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

and it’s fair to say that I have rarely agreed with their pronouncements.

This month, however, they are in the news again, after a 15-year-old child, a student from the State Junior High School (SMPN) 01 Namrole, South Buru, Maluku…

Needless to say, this has caused much comment.

Most Indonesians, of all creeds, are civilised people…

    .

    .

…to whom the idea of child marriage is repugnant.

I waited patiently for several days to see exactly what would happen in regard to this ‘marriage,’ which had not, it seems, been officially registered..

    Update! Good News!

Good kids – students from one of the junior high schools in Buru Selatan, Maluku and teachers demonstrating against the early marriage that happened to a student at the school.

    :…
The chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) of South Buru Regency, Maluku, Ambo Intan Karate has officially canceled the marriage of his daughter, who is still in junior high school, with an ustaz from Tangerang, Banten, named Latif
NB ‘Ustaz’ is the word for Muslim cleric.
    ..

So has this father undergone some kind of spiritual revelation?

Ambo admitted that he canceled his daughter’s marriage due to mediation by the South Buru Regency Government and the local education office.. https://amp.kompas.com/regional/read/2021/10/13/173042478/batalkan-pernikahan-putrinya-yang-masih-smp-ketua-mui-buru-selatan-semoga

Will the MUI’s national leadership now take action to assert that child-marriage is NEVER acceptable?

The father needs to show he understands that child marriage is always wrong. MUI central can help by making it known no child may be marrying.

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

It’s always a little difficult for us foreigners here in Indonesia to comment critically on the release of terrorists.

That’s because many Western countries have responded to the terrorist threat on their own territory in such an insipid and ineffectual way.

In France ( French terror police says 15,000 Islamic radicals on watch list  –Isil priest killer was tagged and on terror watch list ) and Germany (Hinder Dangerous Jihadists? OMG…That’s ”Hardline!”  –Jihadists Known To Police ‘A Common Element?’ Outrageous!  .

…evil men are free to roam the streets

    Most certainly in the UK…

…where the spineless government of Theresa May has chosen to open the door to the return of rats on the run, jihadist scum who went off to join the ISIS rape-gang and now come scuttling ‘home,’ not to face a firing squad, as should be the case, but to batten onto the public purse.

However, the release of a wicked old man, who has never recanted his infamous exhortations to  violence and expressions of sectarian hate….

    —————

    abu-bakar-ba-asyir

    oo

…has shocked many here, not just us foreigners, but many Indonesians too, although some of us were not overwhelmingly astonished.

Less than a year ago we recognised the possibility of such a move, when the brute got remission Terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’asyir gets 3-month on the country’s national holiday.

    ====

Independence Day Brings Bigot Ba’asyir Nearer Release!

At that time, we reminded readers of his vile ranting incitement against tourists in Bali, that video that exposed his backward bigotry for all the world to see..

In the video, Bashir urges those in the village to beat up tourists that disrespect Islamic ways, saying, “If there are infidels here, then beat them up. Do not tolerate them.”

Later in the sermon, he likens non-Muslims to crawling “worms, snakes, maggots.” He also says infidels ruin moral values by exposing their skin at the beach.

    ………..

    Worm about to turn?

    ————–

“Take a look at Bali”, he said.

    http://www.abc.net.au/news/2008-03-24/bakar-bashir-calls-for-violence-against-infidel/1081632

At the very least, one might have hoped the terror convict would be required to issue a public retraction and apology for his nauseating words.

But evidently not- check out reports over the past three years alone.

    ————–

Imprisoned terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’asyir has officially pledged his allegiance, or bai’at, to join the jihadist movement of a militant group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, according to an official…

    Nusakambangan

    –.

Ba’asyir, the spiritual leader of the Indonesian terror network Jamaah Islamiyah, made his bai’at to ISIS with 23 other prisoners in a praying room of what was supposed to be the highly secured Pasir Putih penitentiary on Nusakambangan Island off Cilacap, Central Java.

Jailed Terrorist Convict Ba’asyir Pledges Oath With ISIS

Okay, that’s only one report, but it is hardly the only one!

Terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’€™asyir is set to lose his long-held position as the region’€™s spiritual leader of a terrorist network after expelling his sons and top aides from his organization, Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT), following their refusal to support the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as ISIS.

And check out another post on our blog…

So Will Bigot Ba’asyir Be Unleashed, Since God’s On His Side?

…which touches on the mind-set of the Islamic ‘scholars’ who are rejoicing at the beast’s release.

        MUI – Indonesian Scholars Council

    ==================================

President Jojowi’s decision to uncage Ba’asyir is, we are told, based on ‘compassion’ – a virtue never part of Ba’asyir’s character – but needless to say, questions have been asked about the timing, just a month or three before the election in which Jokowi faces his old foe Prabowo.

BUT…we have been warned not to ask too many questions!

    =

MUI’s Saadi  – ” “MUI thanks God for the decision…”

    =

MUI Vice Chairman Zainut Tauhid Saadi urged the public to not harbor any assumption or make any allegation related to the release of Ba`asyir, as it could erase the legal essence.

Not exactly sure what that means, but Saadi’s other words are clear enough. The ‘scholars’ of the MUI have welcomed the uncaging of the terror convict as ‘a wise and noble legal step…’

And Saadi reminds us that MUI Chairman Ma`ruf Amin had once proposed the release of Ba`asyir early last year on health and humanitarian grounds.

Only In Benighted Aceh? Fun Fake-Santa Video Maker Detained!

Maybe it might not only happen in Aceh, Indonesia’s Dark Age province, where slightly built young women are publicly flogged by masked brutes for reasons the rest of the world would laugh at, were the rest of the world not shuddering…

After a video of Vice Presidential candidate Ma’aruf Amin ‘wearing a Santa Claus costume‘ appeared all too briefly on the internet…

…the cops up there ‘moved quickly and arrested‘ the alleged culprit, a man with the initial S.

    =

    ….

…and he has promised that the police will continue to hunt down the video makers because they are said to have spread hate speech.

    HATE SPEECH?

Since when is a good-natured jokey video ‘hate speech!’

    =

Hoax KH Ma'ruf Pakai Baju Santa

    ======

Well, the answer to that is when the man ostensibly wearing the Santa suit is not only President Jokowi’s VP candidate but also a senior figure in the MUI, the ‘Indonesian Council of Scholars’ – ‘scholars’ here in Indonesia actually means ISLAMIC ‘scholars,’ by the way.

We have written a lot about the MUI…

Adam Created By Angel?” Islamist ‘ScholarsCall the Cops

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

…and it is useful for folks overseas to read it, particularly on the wisdom of Ma’aruf Amin.

    Related image

Jokowi’s VP Pick – A Champion Of Clitoral Clipping!

So Ma’aruf Amin is probably the last person one might expect to see in Father Christmas gear, which is why anyone who saw the video would very promptly realise it was a joke…

    Laughter

… but as we know, humour is as rare as door-to-door carolling in Aceh.

Listen to top cop Rio, who has –

    – advised the public not to try making content containing hate speech. “We don’t mess about with this problem, we don’t discredit people, spread hate speech or bring other people into disrepute. It’s a crime.”

“The police will hunt down all those involved in the hate speech video. Moreover, the victim of this video is a vice presidential candidate.”

I don’t see why Amin’s political prominence should come into it – after all, if there is hatred being spread via the internet against even the humblest Jakarta street-sweeper, that should concern an impartial police force every bit as much as some saucy jibe at a cleric running for high office…

…but perhaps somebody will ask Rio about that.

Meanwhile, he’s a top cop with a mission.

“We will arrest all of them!”

To put all this brou-ha-ha in perspective, Ma’aruf Amin amazed the nation a day or two ago by wishing his Christian fellow-citizens an unprecedented ‘Merry Christmas!’

He had hitherto been seemingly reluctant to offer this basic civility…

“The issue is debated, [so] it’s better not to say it,” he said in December 2012 as reported by tempo.co. He reiterated his stance in 2016 as reported by tribunnews.com, that “I would rather not say [‘Merry Christmas’]” if disagreements existed on the issue. .https://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2018/12/25/jokowis-vp-maruf-amin-posts-rare-christmas-greeting.html

…but, hey, it’s an election year coming up!

All the Muslims I know were happy to offer me the traditional Christmas greeting, but there are a minority of sectarian uptights around, whom we have noted in the past.

IslamoNazi Christmas Warning – Don’t You Dare Disturb Us Bigots!

Whether poor ‘S’ uploaded or downloaded the video, I have no idea.

But all the fuss about this video is baffling.

Neither Amin’s fans or foes can be expected to believe what they see if they watch it – so what’s the big deal?

    A Man Called Ahok – Film Bagus, Tetapi… –

I got off my idle butt this week and went to the movies. With so many films available on cable tv, and dvds, I don’t go to cinemas nearly as often as once I did.

    But this was different.

Image result for a man called ahok

If you want a traditional film review, use the above JP link.

I went to watch today because I admire the subject of the film tremendously, a very good, very decent, very human and VERY unjustly treated man.

Most people here know that Ahok was the best City Governor that Jakarta has had in many, many years.

Some people hated him, ignorant Islamist street scum…

Jakarta Jew-Haters Boo Chinese Christian Candidate

…and high-powered extremist ‘scholars’ wanted desperately to see him brought down…

Jokowi picks Ma’ruf Amin, key expert witness on Ahok’s blasphemy trial

    http://singchamindonesia.com/jokowi-picks-maruf-amin-key-expert-witness-on-ahoks-blasphemy-trial/

…one of whom is very likely going to be Indonesia’s next Vice-President, chosen for that position by President Jokowi, who paradoxically had once been very happy to have Ahok as his running mate when Jokowi was running as a gubernatorial candidate in Jakarta.

Ahok ended up in prison under the benighted ‘blasphemy’ law, an outcome which did dreadful damage to Indonesia’s reputation as a pluralist democracy…

Slouching Towards Shariah, Indonesia Jails Ahok

Despite the sickening sight of Islamist fanatics howling for his blood, to the bitter end, it has to be said that Ahok held the loyalty of MANY decent Muslims.

Their courage can be measured by the intimidation they withstood, some of which was mentioned in a Jakarta Post report….

During the gubernatorial campaign, some mosques called on Muslims not to hold funeral prayers for deceased Muslims found to have supported Anies’ contender, Basuki Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama, who is Christian of Chinese ethnicity.   http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2017/11/22/city-to-hand-out-rp-1-6t-to-mass-organizations-religious-institutions.html

    ooooooooooooooooo

So while it was a fascinating, well-made film, it was a shame it did not cover the Jakarta chapter of his life, except brief allusions thereto at the very start and very end.

I suppose an honest account of the events and their denouement might risk the movie-makers facing similar benighted ‘blasphemy’ charges, if they reported on the harmless quip which ignited bigot fury.

My other criticism involves the English translation of the dialogues, which appeared throughout the movie.

Surely it would not have cost much to get it done properly.

Heck, I would have done the job for free, which might have improved the fluency and grammatical quality.

Freedoms of religion matter to Balinese because most of us are minority religions.

Muhammadiyah Doesn’t Like Extremism? Avoid Mirrors, Pak!

Indonesia’s second-largest Islamic organization, Muhammadiyah, has said extremism is becoming more common around the world.

    • And extremism is not just a danger to Germany. Racist gangs like BLM in America are a serious concern.

    ———–

But Muhammadiyah is an Indonesian Muslim outfit, so right here should be their focus, if they want to help.

And Pak Haedar told the Jakarta Post that he does...

He further said Muhammadiyah was ready to cooperate with other societal elements to eliminate all forms of extremism in Indonesia.

They could make a retrospective start by condemning Nazi-style book-burning, like that carried out by Gramedia, which owns the Jakarta Post.

More recently, who was it joined in the fanatic chorus demanding that our good Jakarta Governor, Ahok, be prosecuted for the ludicrous offence of ‘blasphemy?’

     The Muhammadiyah Youth Wing!

“I have come here to be questioned as a filer of the report,” the youth wing organization chairman Khairul Sakti Lubis said….

The organization is one of several groups that reported Ahok for alleged blasphemy after he mentioned Al Maidah 51, a verse in the Quran, at an event in Thousand Islands regency.

Perhaps Bapak Haedar could have a quiet word with young Khairul, reminding him that stomping free speech, on matters of religion as anything else, is clearly a manifestation of extremism.

As to the absurd arrogance of claiming that only followers of any particular creed are capable of interpreting that creed’s dogmas – go figure!

    ————

However, maybe the Boy Wonder’s extremism can be better understood when we remind ourselves of the MUI’s fanatical extremism.

The Indonesian Council of (self-styled) Scholars has long been the source of incredibly outlandish extremist outbursts, which we have featured here before and now do so again.

FGM ‘Widespread’ In Indonesia! Will ‘Migrants’ Spread It Wider, To YOUR Land?

Bit of a shocker in the Jakarta Globe last week, on the extent of female genital mutilation here in Indonesia.

    ———

    Sinta Nuriyah

    ——–

This barbaric practice is NOT sanctioned by any civilised person of any religion, and former First Lady Sinta Nuriyah, mother of four daughters, makes this very clear in the report. “There really is no religious postulate for female circumcision,’ she says.    http://jakartaglobe.beritasatu.com/news/despite-ban-female-genital-mutilation-widespread-indonesia/ .

So this is not a question of ‘Islamophobia,’ whatever that nonsense word might mean. Sinta is a prominent Muslim, as is the other sensible woman mentioned later in this post.

Unfortunately, the benighted self-styled ‘scholars’ of the MUI – Indonesian Ulema Council  –  have led many simple people in the kampungs to think otherwise. We’ve reported before on that unspeakable old man, Ma’aruf Amin, and his outrageous claim that not only is the horrendous custom acceptable but a ‘human right.’

    ————————–

    • ma'arruf amin  Ma’aruf

-=Clitoral Clip? No, ‘Scraping’ Suffices! TELL Us, Islamist ‘Scholars!’ WHY Do It?

And the report reminds us that Ma’aruf’s outfit issued a fatwa challenging the ban that existed until the spineless government rolled over and allowed the horror to recur as a legal practice – a 2010 guideline issued by the ministry that overturned its own ban and instead explained in detail how the procedure should be carried out.

Fortunately, Indonesia re-entered the modern world last year, when that ministerial guideline was withdrawn last year, meaning that the 2006 ban now stands. But the practice continues.

As it will while callous clerics encourage it.

And we all know how callous many clerics are, especially in the Arab World.

    • Another part of the JG article is interesting, a quote from a lady called Maria Ulfah Anshor, who serves on the Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI).

    • —————————-
    • As you’d hope and expect, she is utterly opposed to FGM.
    • What is needed, she said, is “complete, honest and accurate information about opinions on, and the effects of, female circumcision, so that people can steer clear from this dangerous practice.”
    • ————

Auburn Sheikh Shabbir Vaziri had his bail continued after he was committed to stand trial for two counts of being an accessory after the fact to female genital mutilation and with hindering the police investigation. Sheikh Shabbir Vaziri, 56,

    • The key accused is described as Shabbir Mohammedbhai Vaziri, a high ranking member of the clergy in the Dawoodi Bohra Shia Muslim community.

Since the trial is likely to go well into October, we must await its outcome, but it is not the first trial of its kind in Oz. As we’ve said before…

Oz Girl Mutilated by Dad? Deport Primitives!

And equally clearly, the screening process for the thousands of ‘migrants,’ not from Indonesia but from the afore-mentioned ‘savage territories,’  to be imported over the next year or two from that same Middle East  – into Australia, America, UK, NZ or Canada (which to be fair has made moves in the right direction ‘The Zero-Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act’ –Canada Tells It Like it Is! ) – should include serious interrogation on wannabes’ views on this (and on much else!)

    =================================

    • Croatia

    ——

We know that many ‘migrants’ are backward brutes, who abhor the laws and values of the lands they want to move in on.

Any aspirant ‘migrant’ should be required to make a sworn statement, repudiating FGM  – if they won’t, they should be barred. Any who are subsequently caught perpetrating such assaults should face hard labour for years, followed by expulsion

The incidence of FGM is already high among primitives foolishly admitted to the UK, and logically into other Western countries with lax entry standards. Female genital mutilation: Thousands of victims ‘residing in the UK’  An estimated 137,000 women and girls, aged from infancy to above 50, who have gone through FGM and were born in countries where it is practiced were permanent residents in England and Wales in 2011

Ahok OK – Lebih Baik KPAI Diam Aja!

One of the best things about Jakarta Governor Ahok is his refusal to follow the pathetic mealy-mouth mode of speech all too common among politicians here in Indonesia.

Like former Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa, on the shameful 6-month jail-terms handed to sectarian savages after three innocent Ahmadis were brutally martyred at Cikeusik – in hindsight, whether the sense of justice is fully served, I don’t know…  https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2012/09/03/the-moderate-view-reporting-sectarian-violence-to-un-is-white-collar-crime/

    ————————–

To call a spade a spade is akin to blasphemy, it sometimes seems.

    —————————

    • ahok Ahok
    • ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
    • Not that Western countries lack personalities, entire classes of people, even, who will do anything except speak clearly.
    • We have the Obamanoid in-crowd who insist on calling illegal crimmigrants ‘undocumented migrants.’
    • There’s a whole range of PC new-speak that George Orwell could hardly have foreseen even in his wildest satirical day-dreams. We must not call Charlie Hebdo killers ‘terrorists’, says BBC ..

But still there remain certain expectations of politicians back West – that they’re elected to speak up and speak out. And we still have some honest media, unlike the BBC, that don’t twist the truth

Anyway, Governor Ahok really has set the cat among the uptight pigeons this time!

This threat to children’s innocent ears occurred during a live broadcast about the capital’s budget. Ahok is fighting valiantly against undesirable practices inside City Hall.

But if you tell it like it is, you get some very tantrumesque reactions here.

    tantrum

Now his perfectly understandable expostulations of disgust at civic scumbags have become the media’s focus, rather than the scumbaggery itself.

I last night watched a panel on TVOne with three men debating Ahok’s verbal ‘transgressions.’ One was Tantowi Yahya, Golkar Party MP and country singer, whom readers in Oz will remember for his xenophobic whining during the bludger boat row last year.

Tantowi’s Anti-Oz Rant Can Only Hurt The Needy!

     OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA
Country star Tantowi Yahya of the Golkar Party

    0ooooooooooooo

Tanto is vexed – how dare Ahok talk like that when kids might be listening. Another man from the Hanura Party took a cooler view. But prize for biggest mouth has to go to some middle-aged fellow talking in his capacity as spokesman for the Betawi Youth Forum!

Forty if he was a day! Don’t they have any youths to send to the studio? The poor chap was beside himself with indignation at Ahok, ranting loudly. At least that made me laugh.

But ignore that threesome, partisan figures with an axe to grind.

Let’s go back to the KPAI and their strident Chairman.  The story we linked to doesn’t mention that, despite our nice photo, the Chairman wears two hats.

    • MUI-Indonesia
    • His name’s Asrorun Sholeh, featured on that website as one of their senior officers, Secretary of the Fatwa Commission, no less, shrilling frantically against Miss World http://mui.or.id/mui/homepage/berita/berita-singkat/soal-missworld-asrorun-niam-kirim-surat-terbuka-kepada-presiden-sby.html  – all the self-righteous, intolerant nonsense we had to hear from all those uptights back then.
    • Some of his fellow-fanatics were pretty ‘crude and rude’ – like the bigots in the photo below!
    • Did Asrorun scold them for their choice of vocabulary? Any child passing that demo could have read their obnoxious, obscene vilification of the beautiful girls who were guests of Indonesia.
    • ————-
    • 00000000
    • I’ve no idea, but he was very quick, when he got high office in the KPAI, to start spouting similar bilge about the Jakarta International School scandal…
    • The MUI man soon went off on a predictable tangent, howling about indecent behavior of JIS students and teachers. He said he had received reports about physical contact between teachers and students, and intimate relationships between female and male students.

Fanatic Stirs JIS Storm – MUI’s Asrorun Demands Sectarian Schooling!

    • oooooooooooooooooooooo

Asrorun Sholeh’s record of involvement with MUI should disqualify him from criticising Ahok over any crude or unpleasant statements the Guv may or may not have made.

If Asrorun wants to tell some people to shut their gobs, he should be addressing his intolerant, obscurantist MUI colleagues.

Like Ma’aruf Amin, who thinks that female circumcision is a ‘human right…’

Or Amidhan, who tells us ‘don’t complain’ if we’re attacked by IslamoNazi thugs…

Or Muhammad Al Khaththath, the extremist who thinks people should be killed for ‘defaming’ his religion….

For more specific links on these gents, see our older posts, like Congrats! A FINE Indonesian Muslim Scholar, Unlike MUI!

Once you familiarise yourself with the MUI’s disgraceful record, you may agree that it’s their kind of pernicious drivel that children should be protected from, not a few rude words like Ahok’s.

IslamoNazi Thugs Threaten Hotel Over Valentine Ad!

Well, it’s that time of year.

    • Sejumlah massa dari Front Pembela Islam (FPI) melakukan aksi di depan Gedung Mahkaman Konstitusi (MK), Jakarta, Rabu (27/1). IslamoNazi FPI in action
    • ——————————————-

This gangster group is evidently echoing more sedate condemnation in the news a few days ago, viz. –

The Deputy Secretary-General of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), Tengku Zulkarnain reckons that that there is a systematic attempt to destroy the morals of Indonesia.

    00

    tengku zulkarnain-mui- Tengku

    00

Much like Hillary’s ‘vast rightwing conspiracy’ in the USA, this threat appears to be hydra-headed, but the only concrete example Tengku appears to be offering is that of ads plastered about in public and read by the whole community…“all working together to destroy the morals of the nation’s children,” said Tengku.

I only caught up recently with the protests by these self-styled ‘scholar’s about obscene billboards advertising cigarettes..

“Mula2 Malu2, Lama2 Mau!” More Uptight Antedeluvian Censorship!

But there’s another billboard causing uproar among the uptights

    000

    00o

It seems there’s a problem about this Valentine promotion – the Batu Wonderland Hotel provides a 50% discount for guests staying with a girlfriend on weekends during the month of February – but please note, that’s just one translation.

The hotel’s located in Malang, East Java. It sounds like a good deal – an overnight train-ride from Jakarta, if anyone fancies the trip! I’ve only gotten to know one person from there, a real charmer – cheers, R, if you’re reading!

But this takes us back to Tengku – he’s quoted complaining that community members are not aware that the ad looks like it was intended to legitimise adultery or free sex.   http://www.hariandepok.com/23503/mui-ada-upaya-perusakan-moral-bangsa

Was he rabbiting about the cigarette ads, now of course withdrawn – or about the hotel ads?

I had a look, as can you, at the ad pictured above, and it refers not to pacar, girl-friend, but to kekasih, which usually means ‘darling,’ or ‘beloved.’

Of course many of us can – and probably do – say ‘darling’ to anyone!

But equally – probably – a lot of guys say it to their wives. The interpretation depends on the mentality of those who read the ad.

A matter of finding what you choose to look for?

Which is more than we can say about the clear, unambiguous assertions on other matters by some of Tengku’s MUI colleagues.

Not least, the unspeakable Ma’aruf Amin, who, as….

Muhammed Al Khatthath has been allowed to hold high-level positions of responsibility in the MUI, despite his sectarian notoriety. .

Tengku really needs to get his act together, and apologise for his disgraceful comrades  – that would be doing something positive to preserve the morals of the nation’s children, by disowning rabid fanaticism.

    ————

    But he won’t.

At the start of February, EVERY year, MUI ‘scholars’ are too busy gearing up to tell kids how morally corrosive sending Valentine cards can be.

    Pathetic, really.

Indonesia’s Arrogant Islamists – “Non-Denominational Belief Is Not a Religion!”

    e-KTP-contoh

    ==========

Interesting to see that it’s Ma’aruf Amin who’s being quoted on behalf of the MUI, the Indonesian Council of ‘Scholars,’ in the debate on the KTP, the ID document which every Indonesian must carry.

    =

    ma'arruf amin Ma’aruf Amin

    =

Ma’aruf, you’ll recall, is the enlightened figure who told us that female circumcision is a ‘human right.’   http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/home/rights-groups-push-for-female-circumcision-ban/566823  That barbaric custom is still widely practiced here.

“Circumcision hopefully will make her less amorous…” Islamist Ignorance Targets Tots

However, he has agreed that citizens should be free to leave the KTP’s ‘religion’ column blank.

Many of us might think that religion is a personal thing, nothing to do with the state,  but never mind, a teeny-weeny step towards religious liberty for the people of this wonderful land, after being forced for decades to fill in the column with one of the six religions.    http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2014/11/14/ulema-council-wants-keep-religion-column.html

But don’t start the cheering too soon.

The MUI man went on to say his fellow-countrymen should not be allowed to enter their religion in the column if they don’t follow one of those six state-approved faiths.

    Why not?

“A non-denominational belief is not a religion so it should not be stated in the religion column,” said Ma’ruf.

Ma’aruf must certainly have a hot-line to God if he and his ‘scholar’ colleagues feel they can determine that minority faiths are NOT religions. But it’s up to them what they believe about mankind’s relationship with the Almighty. I’d be the last to deny them their right to think and worship as they see fit.

A pity they don’t take the same view.

They’ve been the most vociferous cheer-leaders for discriminatory state action against the inoffensive Ahmdiyah minority, and others who don’t share their dogmatic beliefs. They expressed approval of the infamous Tri-Ministerial Decree which has been invoked by vicious Islamist bigots as justification for sealing, and stealing, houses of worship belonging to Ahmadis.

    oooooooo

masjid-ahmadiyah-depok These Ahmadis were prevented from further prayers in their Depok, West Java, mosque by a simple step – the local authorities expropriated the whole building! Just like Communists, these sectarians!

    =======================

The endless persecution has even seen murder, the foul Cikeusik Pogrom.  of 2011, where three innocent men were martyred by a mob of savages.

    ========================

    • ahmadiyah2 Bigot pig at work in Cikeusik
    • ===================
    • The subsequent trial, when a handful of scumbags were put away for on average six months each (along with an Ahmadi who survived the atrocity!) showed the world how flimsy freedom of religion really can be, sadly.
    • ==================

Of course, Pak Ma’aruf doesn’t endorse violence.

    =

    Amidhan-MUI-2011 Amidhan

    =

Nor does his senior MUI colleague Amidhan.

As was made clear a couple of Ramadhans ago, when he spoke about Islamist thug raids on mini-markets that did not kow-tow sufficiently to the intolerance prevalent at that time of year. Amidhan has no time for thuggery, but if shop-keepers dare display indifference to the sectarian demands of the MUI…

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

The new Minister of Religious Affairs, Lukman, has shown refreshing readiness to respect Ahmadi and other minority creeds’ rights – there are, after all, nearly ten million Indonesians not affiliated with ‘approved’ religions – and that’s great.

Will the MUI now inch into the modern world and insist to their followers that it is every citizens’ duty to take a stand for religious liberty and prevent the shameful assaults, arson and closures inflicted on these peaceful people?
