‘Scholar’ Arrested! Why Would Anyone Be ‘Provoked?’

We have often discussed Indonesia’s “Council of Scholars…”‘

…and rarely had much to say about them…

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Bali Hindu King – Don’t Kill Our Cows! Muslim ‘Scholars’ – Get Lost!!

Adam Created By Angel?” Islamist ‘ScholarsCall the Cops

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

…that the ‘scholars’ would enjoy reading.

But the recent news, that the National Police Anti-Terror Detachment 88  – aka Densus 88…

…have arrested a geezer named Ustaz ( Cleric) Farid Okbah, Ahmad Zain An Najah, who happens to serve on the Fatwa Commission of the Indonesian Ulema Council ( MUI )…

…in relation to terrorism allegations, has piqued our interest.

Of course sensible people will let Densus 88 do their job…

Makassar – One Less Foul Fiend In The World?

…which they usually do very well, and not jump the gun on the detained man’s innocence or guilt.

But it seems some are not content to wait, and may be pondering causing a ruckus.

So it’s good to hear a man from Muhammadiyah…

…one of the two largest Muslim mass organisations in Indonesia, expressing his trust in the police.
“I believe the police will be very thorough in handling it,” said General Chairman Haedar Nasir, on Thursday.

Mr.Haedar asked the public not to be provoked by the arrest. According to him, that would only create a rowdy situation and conditions.

Undoubtedly, but to whom might he be referring? Who might be ‘provoked?’

All decent Indonesians applaud action against terrorism, and will be content to wait for this case to be fully dealt with.

But alas, not all Indonesians are decent, any more than all Brits…

    …or Americans or Australians.

There are elements who hold fanatic sectarian views.

We have heard their voices before…..

Jakarta Echoes of Gibraltar – How Dare You Kill Terrorists?

…when Densus88 was doing first class work against the Forces of Darkness.

Regardless of whom the Anti-Terror cops capture, such elements will try to exploit the situation for malign purposes.

    Wait and see!

For more on this, there’s a good report, but you may need to use Google Tranaslate.  https://news.detik.com/berita-jawa-tengah/d-5816628/ketum-pp-muhammadiyah-angkat-bicara-soal-anggota-mui-ditangkap-densus

    Jakarta’s Ataturk Avenue?

The plan for naming the road in Menteng after Mustafa Kemal Ataturk has drawn controversy

Thus begins one local media report, accurately enough.

The idea arose because the Turks are naming a road after Indonesia’s Founding Father…

    President Sukarno

….President Soekarno, or Sukarno – spelling optional – so somebody thought that a reciprocal move might be a nice gesture.

Ataturk, after all, created modern Turkey from the ruins of the Ottoman Empire after WW1.

Uproar, because of  people like the Deputy Chairperson of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Anwar Abbas.

Waketum MUI soal Status Imam Besar HRS: Cuma di Organisasinya

Abbas considered Ataturk to be a figure who messed up Islamic teachings.

    Perhaps Ataturk did.

Unlike the MUI, of course, who always offer wise guidance.

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta – “If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

Bali Hindu King – Don’t Kill Our Cows! Muslim ‘Scholars’ – Get Lost!!

Adam Created By Angel?” Islamist ‘ScholarsCall the Cops

Cops – “Islamist ‘Scholars’ Can Veto Religious Liberty”

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

    I am staying neutral.

It was several years ago that I drew readers’ attention to Kemal Ataturk’s present-day political heirs, ‘the so-called “secularist” and “progressive” nationalist Kemalists,’ whom Western observers often deem an infinitely more promising alternative to Erdolf.

    But they’re not, actually.

They too are as revanchist as Erdolf, ‘dreaming of expanding Turkey’s borders into Greece.’

This time, Sözcü newspaper has joined the choir of Turks dreaming of occupying Greek islands.

Only Erdoğan is a problem? Kemalist newspaper says Greece is occupying "18 Turkish islands" 5

    …and that’s an ‘opposition’ newspaper!

They are heirs to Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and while he did a dashed fine job of stamping out backward ‘caliphate’ customs,

    …viz. his actions when he…

Ataturk – no uptights at his parties

“…..closed all religious courts and schools,

    – prohibited the wearing of headscarves among public sector employees,

    – abolished the ministry of canon law and pious foundations,

    – lifted the ban on alcohol,

    – adopted the Gregorian calendar in place of the Islamic calendar,

    – made Sunday a day of rest instead of Friday,

    – changed the Turkish alphabet from Arabic letters to Roman ones.”     http://dailycaller.com/2017/05/28/guns-politics-the-rise-of-ataturk/

…at the same time, he also stamped out a million Greeks!

So he did well by the Turks, but oversaw genocide against non-Turks unlucky enough to be within his reach.

However, many fanatics here do not share my positive view on his reforms in Turkey, hence the debate.

    And hence my neutrality!

Death To Corruptors, MUI? Why Not Terrorists?

It’s been a while since I wrote about the MUI…

…Indonesia’s Council of ‘Scholars’ – a state-subsidised body with fancy premises in uptown Jakarta.

But last week’s comments from Ikhsan Abdullah, their ‘Deputy General Secretary for Law and Human Rights, ‘ got my attention.

The prominent ‘scholar’ is very upset by a case of alleged corruption involving ‘mosque grant funds.’

If necessary, he said, corruptors should be sentenced to death in order to provide a deterrent effect

There is much to be said for capital punishment, not least that it’s 100% a deterrent – how many executed crims have re-offended?

Most Brits would love to see restoration of the death penalty, for various categories of atrocious crime, esp terrorism.

But no way will the UK’s jellyfish elite allow a referendum.

But strangely, here, where Indonesia’s excellent security forces do good work taking out jihadist scum, despite bitching from undesirables….

Jakarta Echoes of Gibraltar – How Dare You Kill Terrorists?

…the MUI has not so far called for evil sectarians to be put down.

Quite the contrary, in the case of a particularly evil sectarian, not that long ago.

In fact, when the authorities began talk of releasing the savage, what did the MUI have to say?

A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Far wiser, surely, to do what was done, righteously, to the Bali Pigs…

.. though sadly there’s been no terrorist executions since, as far as I know.

Good question, mate. It took a long time for Indonesia to shoot those b. 3 Bali –tards that murdered so many Australians, but they did shoot them finally.
But it’s a little tricky trying to explain why Australia doesn’t have the balls to shoot terrorists.
I never heard a good argument why we shouldnt.

Allons, Tous Le Jours! Fire The Moron!

One learns something new every day, and this week I have learned that a posh cake store named Tous Les Jours is ‘South Korean,’ or so the Jakarta Post tells us.

    Why a French name?

Lord knows, but mention of The Lord brings us to His Big Day, namely Christmas, and that’s why the cake store’s in the news this month, when people are preparing to celebrate the major Christian holiday.

It’s a weird story, for the store is not located in some benighted village in Aceh Province but in one of Jakarta’s glitziest malls, Pacific Place.

Yet there appeared therein a nasty notice blaring Islamist bigotry  – that it would ‘reject requests for Christmas greetings to reportedly obtain halal certification.’

However, one’s natural disgust at such news fast became confusion….

    Image result for mui"

….for the Islamic authority responsible for such ‘certification,’ the MUI, quickly dissociated itself from any such sectarian nonsense – and the head office of Tous Les Jours also disowned the notice – it was not an “official policy issued by the management.”

Image result for toujours bakery indonesia l"

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), which is in charge of conducting the halal assessment, however, claims no companies were asked to refuse to write holiday greetings of faiths other than Islam to gain halal status.

So the MUI didn’t require the store to indulge in crass bigotry, and the company’s bosses didn’t either?

    WHO DID?

Unfortunately, sometimes, a lot of these stories just slither down the drain of public amnesia and nobody is held to account.

I used to try to keep attention focused on the scandal of businesses collaborating with fanatics, as in the shameful way Gramedia worked hand-in-glove with, yes, the MUI, in its notorious book-burning…

…but nobody here gave a tinker’s cuss, or if they did, they never organised a well-deserved boycott of the book-burning media magnates.

On this occasion, however, it shouldn’t be hard to nail the moronic individual who authorised the notice.

I hope all the media attention doesn’t melt away, not until the SOB is identified and fired.

Ross, this will be swept under the carpet and the moron/jihadist responsible will keep his job or at best get transferred.
Nobody here likes a public fuss about these problems.
That was why Gramedia got away with their Hitler copy-cat stunt and why you should write another book about our good times in Indonesia, so people will know it was fun while it lasted.

          It’ll just blow over.

The trouble is, people like those Gramedia executives have no shame.

Bog-Busters In Indonesia? Trans-Freaks Arouse Islamic Ire!

Preface – for the benefit of North American readers, the word ‘bog’ is UK slang for ‘toilet’ in British slang!

Not all Indonesia toilets as as awful as this – there are many much nicer!

But men ought not to be using those meant for women

While I can’t immediately recall many, if any, occasions on which I’ve found myself at one with the ‘scholars’ of the MUI here in Indonesia…

…and in fact can recall innumerable times when they have appalled me…

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

Bali Hindu King – Don’t Kill Our Cows! Muslim ‘Scholars’ – Get Lost!!

Islamist ‘Scholars’ – “Don’t Complain if You’re Attacked!”

…today I read that the Indonesian Scholars Council are quite rightly condemning cross-dressers, who use their gender-bender outfits to gate-crash women’s toilets.

The MUI’s branch in South Sulawesi has issued an angry reminder that men are not to dress as women, after males have been reportedly sporting not only head-scarves ( hijabs) but even face-veils to hide what they really are!
There’s even a name been coined for the freakos – crosshijaber –
    – and the MUI branch chairman, a Mr. Renreng, has warned them not to show up in his province.
This comes after the bizarre phenomenon has been raised in the DPR (parliament) Anggota DPR Minta Kemenag Bina Crosshijaber and by both the mainstream Muslim organisations, the NU and Muhammadiyah.

( you can use Google Translate for the above links)

With Hallowe’en approaching ( an annual event which the NU and Muhammadiyah dislike! ) people in the West can expect weirdly costumed characters to appear in their streets.

But of course many Indonesians, not just Muslims but also the large Christian minority, are fully aware that the trans-freaks are not a fun phenomenon…

Macy’s has fired a Christian woman for refusing to violate her religious beliefs. Her offense? She prevented a man dressed as a woman from entering the women’s dressing room.  https://rossrightangle.wordpress.com/2011/12/08/boycott-macys/

….but seriously maladjusted individuals who refuse to seek help but are ever more arrogant in their assertion of  ‘rights.’

Few public figures are as brave as America’s Ben Carson.

Bravo Ben Carson! Freak Fans Flushed Out – Now Fire Them

So Sulawesi’s Mr. Renreng is wise to warn against the trans-freaks.

They may seem laughable as they mince about in women’s wear.

Yet when they start transgressing the bounds of decency, invading toilets ( bog-busting) and changing rooms, where women and girls should be able to feel safe from prurient perverts…

Hallowe’en Horrors? But Are Target Toilets Scarier?

…it’s time to put them in their place!

    • Gracie 09:35 on October 15, 2019 Permalink | Reply

A very good alert to let Indonesians see how aggressive these trans are and how decadent Western society has become.

It is important also to ignore the distinction between cross-dressers who pretend they are female and the insane transgenders who cut away at their organs to try to make fantasy into reality.
Giving any of them access to women’s rest-rooms and changing rooms is criminally dangerous.

That story about the Christian woman in New York made me angry.
Do most stores there not respect women?
If I go to New York, I will never visit Macy’s.
Are London stores as bad as Macy’s?

We talked about this after my local staff read your blog today as they usually do.
Some of hem refused to believe any store would allow men to use womens restrooms.

I have thought about leaving for home in the next few years but now?

Prabowo Faces Jakarta Post Quadrennial Gibbering!

And off we go again, an outstanding display of double-standards by the Jakarta Post, which re-hashed its long-winded explanation from four years ago on why it is anti-Prabowo and pro-Jokowi!

We are encouraged that one candidate [Jokowi] has displayed a factual record of rejecting faith-based politics. At the same time we are horrified that the other [Prabowo] affiliates himself with hard-line Islamic groups who would tear the secular nature of the country apart…    https://www.thejakartapost.com/academia/2019/04/09/we-may-ruin-our-incredible-democratic-achievements-since-1999.html

The Jakarta Post unequivocally deplores religious thugs who forward an intolerant agenda.

    Oh yeah?

How often does it get thus HORRIFIED at involvement with such unspeakable people?

Has the JP a consistent record of being ‘HORRIFIED’ by people who collaborate with religious thugs who forward an intolerant agenda?

Regular readers here at RRA will remember the infamous Nazi-style book-burning in Jakarta, sponsored not only by the most backward Islamist fanatics…

…but by Indonesia’s largest publishing empire, Gramedia, of which, last I heard, the Jakarta Post is part.

That was a Hitlerite atrocity against free expression.

If the Jakarta Post, even so late as this election eve, now condemns its Gramedia overlords, then perhaps they may be forgiven the sin of selective indignation.

“A Wise And Noble Step?” Islamic ‘Scholars’ On Terrorist Unleashed In Indonesia!

It’s always a little difficult for us foreigners here in Indonesia to comment critically on the release of terrorists.

That’s because many Western countries have responded to the terrorist threat on their own territory in such an insipid and ineffectual way.

In France ( French terror police says 15,000 Islamic radicals on watch list  –Isil priest killer was tagged and on terror watch list ) and Germany (Hinder Dangerous Jihadists? OMG…That’s ”Hardline!”  –Jihadists Known To Police ‘A Common Element?’ Outrageous!  .

…evil men are free to roam the streets

    Most certainly in the UK…

Image result for ISIS theresa leaveeu

…where the spineless government of Theresa May has chosen to open the door to the return of rats on the run, jihadist scum who went off to join the ISIS rape-gang and now come scuttling ‘home,’ not to face a firing squad, as should be the case, but to batten onto the public purse.

However, the release of a wicked old man, who has never recanted his infamous exhortations to  violence and expressions of sectarian hate….

…has shocked many here, not just us foreigners, but many Indonesians too, although some of us were not overwhelmingly astonished.

Less than a year ago we recognised the possibility of such a move, when the brute got remission Terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’asyir gets 3-month on the country’s national holiday.

Independence Day Brings Bigot Ba’asyir Nearer Release!

At that time, we reminded readers of his vile ranting incitement against tourists in Bali, that video that exposed his backward bigotry for all the world to see..

In the video, Bashir urges those in the village to beat up tourists that disrespect Islamic ways, saying, “If there are infidels here, then beat them up. Do not tolerate them.”

Later in the sermon, he likens non-Muslims to crawling “worms, snakes, maggots.” He also says infidels ruin moral values by exposing their skin at the beach.

    Worm about to turn?

“Take a look at Bali”, he said.

At the very least, one might have hoped the terror convict would be required to issue a public retraction and apology for his nauseating words.

But evidently not- check out reports over the past three years alone.

Imprisoned terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’asyir has officially pledged his allegiance, or bai’at, to join the jihadist movement of a militant group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, or ISIS, according to an official…

Ba’asyir, the spiritual leader of the Indonesian terror network Jamaah Islamiyah, made his bai’at to ISIS with 23 other prisoners in a praying room of what was supposed to be the highly secured Pasir Putih penitentiary on Nusakambangan Island off Cilacap, Central Java.

Jailed Terrorist Convict Ba’asyir Pledges Oath With ISIS

Okay, that’s only one report, but it is hardly the only one!

Terrorist convict Abu Bakar Ba’€™asyir is set to lose his long-held position as the region’€™s spiritual leader of a terrorist network after expelling his sons and top aides from his organization, Jamaah Ansharut Tauhid (JAT), following their refusal to support the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), also known as ISIS.

And check out another post on our blog…

So Will Bigot Ba’asyir Be Unleashed, Since God’s On His Side?

…which touches on the mind-set of the Islamic ‘scholars’ who are rejoicing at the beast’s release.

        MUI – Indonesian Scholars Council

President Jojowi’s decision to uncage Ba’asyir is, we are told, based on ‘compassion’ – a virtue never part of Ba’asyir’s character – but needless to say, questions have been asked about the timing, just a month or three before the election in which Jokowi faces his old foe Prabowo.

BUT…we have been warned not to ask too many questions!

Image result for Zainut Tauhid Saadi

MUI’s Saadi  – ” “MUI thanks God for the decision…”

MUI Vice Chairman Zainut Tauhid Saadi urged the public to not harbor any assumption or make any allegation related to the release of Ba`asyir, as it could erase the legal essence.

Not exactly sure what that means, but Saadi’s other words are clear enough. The ‘scholars’ of the MUI have welcomed the uncaging of the terror convict as ‘a wise and noble legal step…’

And Saadi reminds us that MUI Chairman Ma`ruf Amin had once proposed the release of Ba`asyir early last year on health and humanitarian grounds.

    MUI’s Ma’aruf Amin – the next Vice-President of Indonesia?

Almost exactly the words now used by President Jokowi this month.

And President Jokowi, please note, has chosen MUI’s Ma’aruf Amin as his Vice-Presidential running-mate in that April election.

Time to get going, if you haven’t gone yet.
At least SBY had three terrorists executed.

Truly, Jim, I admit its the worst news here since Ahok was sent to prison.
I am waiting to see how many more terrorists Jokowi will release.

I get home late on Mondays so only now have read this and I so much agree.
We are all shocked by what has happened and worry also that if the government can let one devil be loosed, what next?
There are many more terrorist prisoners who want to get free and kill more innocent people.

Terroris like him is very bad news for Indonesia. ISIS hates our democracy and our freedom.v
Densus88 shoot them and we cheer.
Why must our presiden let this man free?

    • Wahyo 08:19 on January 22, 2019 Permalink | Reply

Not ever should he be released. He has no soorow for his criminal actions.

    • Heru 12:52 on January 22, 2019 Permalink | Reply

      Wise and noble?
Since when it was wise to let so very bad a man out of prison when he is not finished his sentence and will not regret his crime. Since when it was noble to let out an Indonesian who does not respect Indonesia but instead respects ISIS.

‘Scholars’ Tell Parents “You’re ‘Allowed’ To Save Your Kids!”

The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has allowed the country’s Muslims to receive a government-sponsored vaccine for measles and rubella…

MUI Allows Indonesian Muslims to Receive MR Shots

The organisation is chaired by Ma’ruf Amin, who was recently controversially announced as Indonesian President Joko Widodo’s running mate in next year’s presidential election.

However, the fatwa also states that the use of the product will be allowed for the time being due to the lack of viable alternatives…

    How gracious of them!

It is a very bad thing this school did.
It is an insult for our Independence Day and it also offends Muslim people who hate ISIS same like you do.
It is also very wrong to use children like this.
Somebody should ask Ma’aruf Amin what he thinks.

      Very big of the ‘scholars.’
I find it stunning that any parents would give a toss what the MUI says when the health and safety of their children is at stake.

Drooling Pigs – ‘Moral Vigilantes’ Arrested In Tangerang!

While it’s still International Day to Stop Violence Against Women, I have to mention four sleazy scumbags.

Four people suspected of making a couple strip naked and forcing them to march on the streets have been arrested in the Tangerang Regency of Indonesia.

This kind of thing is nothing new. I remember being shocked when I read a similar report back in 1999, when I was still new to Indonesia.

In those days, technology was not as advanced as 2017, so only photographs were taken.

Now what is ludicrously described as an act of ‘moral vigilantism’ which took place on Saturday (11 November) was filmed and the video went viral.

The unwed couple were accused by locals of performing an unspecified “immoral act” inside a home in a village.

According to Tangerang Regency police chief Sabilul Alif, the couple were pushed into the street by the vigilantes who rebuked them for being “indecent.”

    ‘moral vigilantism?’

But the tail-end of the report is more than disturbing, the reminder that in January, two consenting adulterers in Tangerang were forced to march in public, but those responsible were not charged with any crime.

And a similar desecration of justice occurred elsewhere, in August – again, no charges brought against the scabrous brutes who had  a couple paraded through the streets in rural Indonesia..    http://www.ibtimes.co.uk/indonesian-couple-stripped-naked-beaten-paraded-1647186

Yet the man thus bullied was charged with adultery!

OK, we can say that such displays of a moronic mind-set are confined to uneducated ignoramuses.

But where do they get this sicko mentality from.

It’s obviously to do with having a dirty mind and a zeal for humiliating women and for making the most of an opportunity to be voyeurs, grubby adolescent panting at a chance to see a woman’s private parts.

But who passed the laws that allow people to be ‘charged with adultery.’

Who arrogates to themselves the right to decree what constitutes the proper penalty for adultery?

I suppose we should just be glad it’s not those benighted ‘scholars’ who are forever yapping about their prescribed remedies for everything that goes wrong, or even just goes on, rightly or wrongly.

The fanatic Islamists of the state-funded Indonesian Council of ‘Scholars’  -the MUI would make life even more unpleasant if they had their way.

Get a load of this geezer!

Syamsul Maarif,  General Secretary of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Jakarta

“If the act of adultery is by a married person, then stoning is the sentence, while if unmarried, then it’s whipping,” he said.

One hopes and prays that ‘scholars’ like Syamsul Ma’arif,  NEVER get close to governing Indonesia.

Actually, they are very close indeed.

They are pathetic and I wouldn’t even call them animals but you make the most important point about this when you describe those Islamist ‘scholars.’
They talk that rubbish and still get funded by the government? Does the government take their advice on anything important?
I wonder how long you can hang on there writing the good things you write. It sounds to me like Indonesia is in real danger of going down the Iran road.

If these morons are taught shariah law from childhood then it’s only natural that they have no respect for women, who under shariah law, are second class human being, forced into head-coverings while the men aren’t, and allowed to marry only one husband while the men can enjoy up to four wives. There’s the unjust inheritance laws too. All bad.

Second class people get second class treatment, and from what I have read, those scholars ( are genuinely educated in anything worth studying?) are very influential.
It was their extremist agitation that forced the government to issue the discriminatory laws against the Ahmadiyya Muslims, wasn’t it?
      Stoning? Whipping? In 2017?
Great, if it’s done to the four droolers your story is about.

Always happy to see you giving attention to Indonesia. Tangerang is just across the Jakarta city boundary and it isnt nice to think this kind of thing is going on around the corner from where we live but as you say it isnt anything new.
MUI never get any better. Nothing they say or do would shock me anymore.
